  7. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:05 BST 17 September

    Sussex 127-5 v Yorkshire 194

Jordan Thompson beats Jack Carson with a magnificent delivery but the wicket of Tom Alsop is the only one for Yorkshire during an initial 19-over session at Hove following a delayed start.

Both teams need as many points as possible from the game in case Durham somehow manage to conjure up a win over Worcestershire.

John Simpson is 25 not out at the interval and Carson has a single.

  8. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:54 BST 17 September

    Alsop b Milnes 36 (Sussex 126-5 v Yorks 194)

    Tom Alsop can't believe it.

He jams the bat down on a yorker but the ball rolls back onto the leg stump as he desperately tries to block it with his foot.

The bail falls, his innings is over. Jack Carson is the next man in.

  9. Postpublished at 12:53 BST 17 September

    Sussex 126-4 v Yorks 194

John Simpson follows a scoop down to long leg for a couple by using his feet well before driving Dom Bess past mid-off for four. Little sign of turn in the off-spinner's opening over.

  10. Postpublished at 12:50 BST 17 September

    Sussex 119-4 v Yorks 194

Jordan Thompson implores the umpire for a caught behind decision against John Simpson - he doesn't get one.

Simpson was a bit late on that one and it clipped the top of the pad on its way through to the keeper.

Spin now as Dom Bess enters the attack.

  11. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 12:47 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 61-4

A very satisfactory day for the hosts so far and lunch will taste especially sweet for Jack Leach and Archie Vaughan who have combined to reduce Hants top order to rubble.

Somerset marched smartly to the fourth then fifth batting bonus points, Kasey Aldridge's run out the last action with Craig Overton finishing unbeaten on 50

With the ball there is already significant turn and while a couple of the Hants batters will rightly kick themselves for giving away wickets (Nick Gubbins and Toby Albert) Somerset might feel they could have had a couple more.

  12. Postpublished at 12:44 BST 17 September

    Sussex 119-4 v Yorks 194

Good timing by Tom Alsop, who tucks Matt Milnes away to square leg for four. He advances to 35 not out.

  13. Play after lunch at Chester-le-Streetpublished at 12:43 BST 17 September

    Durham v Worcs 320-5

Blue skies up above and action in the middle albeit from ground staff at CLS as the umpires complete their 12:30 inspection.

There will be no play before lunch but play is set to start at 13:20 with 70 overs in the day.

  14. 'Good decision to keep Archie Vaughan on'published at 12:43 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hampshire 61-4

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

That's why I was never captain. I would have whipped him off from the his previous over and I'd have given him a stern rebuke!

Revenge for Vaughan as he gets Toby Albert caught and bowled.

  15. dropped catch

Sundar dropped on 1published at 12:41 BST 17 September

    Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 59-4

That was a very difficult chance for Craig Overton at slip but Jack Leach finds the edge of Washington Sundar's bat and the ball flies quickly to his left at boot level.

Overton is annoyed with himself but that was a half chance at best.

  16. Good news from south Londonpublished at 12:38 BST 17 September

    Surrey 173 v Notts 231 & 219-8

The clouds have lifted somewhat at The Oval.

Play will begin at 13:10 BST with 72 overs left in the day.

  17. Derbyshire 'desperate' for play to resumepublished at 12:36 BST 17 September

    Derbyshire 17-0 v Glamorgan 259 - start delayed

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

The rain finally stopped in Derby at around 12:15 BST, shortly after the umpires had been out for a wander and a chat with the groundstaff.

They’re having another look at 13:30 BST, but it would be a surprise if they start straight after that given the amount of rain that’s fallen.

Derbyshire are desperate to get as much play as possible to open up some sort of route to victory in the battle of third versus second, while Glamorgan’s interests could be best served by further delays.

  18. Lunch at Bristolpublished at 12:35 BST 17 September

    Gloucs 158-5 v Northants 206

They have taken an early lunch at Bristol and hope to resume play at 13:10 BST.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:35 BST 17 September

    Albert c & b Vaughan 29 (Somerset 454-8 dec v Hants 58-4)

And what do you know... Lewis Gregory's decision to keep Archie Vaughan on has paid immediate dividends.

Toby Albert has leaned back and tried to blast that over mid off and clothed it off the toe end straight back to the bowler who takes a simple catch.

That was a horrible shot and another Hants wicket that has rather been given away.

  20. Postpublished at 12:32 BST 17 September

    Sussex 110-4 v Yorks 194

Tom Alsop jabs the bat down on a quicker ball from Jordan Thompson and then adjusts the position of his feet, putting his left one in the way just in case it spins back towards the stumps. It doesn't.
