    Lees c O'Neill b Ahmed 52 (Notts v Durham 102-3)

Colin Ackermann brings up the Durham 100 in the 24th over with a four off Lyndon James who's taken some tap this morning.

Then Farhan Ahmed is back for his second over and strikes with just his eighth ball!

Ahmed floats one up to Alex Lees whose eyes light up, but he succeeds only in chipping to mid-on where Fergus O'Neill adds a comfortable catch to his two wickets. A doddle this debut lark.

Lees looked dangerous and Notts will be glad to se the back of him before lunch.

  2. Division Two updatepublished at 12:41 British Summer Time 4 April

Eddie Byrom's innings comes to an end on 41 as he is caught behind off Leicestershire paceman Ben Green. Sam Northeast is also back in the dressing room and Glamorgan are 78-3 in the 24th over.

Justin Broad has bowled Ben Compton for 12, but Tawanda Muyeye is 43 not out at better than a run per ball with Kent 105-3 in the 24th over against Northants at Wantage Road.

Anuj Dal removes Ollie Price, caught at second slip for 21, his second success of the morning, and Gloucestershire are 65-4 in the 24th at Derby.

  3. Postpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex (84-3)

Oh, hang on Michael Booth thinks he might have the wicket of James Coles caught behind.

The Warwickshire man celebrates on his follow through and those behind the stumps join in before turning to the umpire to find him calling not out and the end of the over.

    As you were everyone.

  4. Postpublished at 21 overs

    Hants v Yorks 84-4

Kyle Abbott is back for another spell for Hampshire, who are on top and looking for another wicket or two before lunch.

George Hill glides one down to third man for four off an open face and is eight not out. Dawid Malan may be the key man now for Yorkshire and he has 22.

  5. Postpublished at 12:37 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 80-3

The threat seems to have gone out of the Warwickshire attack.

Michael Booth has struggled to find a consistent line and length while Sri Lankan Vishwa Fernando has gone for 27 runs from his opening four overs.

Will Ethan Bamber get another go before lunch I wonder?

  6. 50 runs

50 for Alex Leespublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 96-2

Captaincy doesn’t seem to have burdened the batting of Alex Lees.

He welcomes Farhan Ahmed into the Notts attack by taking two off the first ball to bring up his 52nd first-class half-century.

It's come at a brisk pace, off just 60 balls, featuring eight fours. Nice start.

  7. 50 runs

50 for Gareth Roderickpublished at 12:32 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 95-1

Gareth Roderick will be delighted with his morning’s work as he cuts Kasey Aldridge through gully for four to bring up his fifty.

The knock has been well-paced, off 76 balls, and he’s not been afraid to attack.

It’s the 41st time he’s brought up the landmark in his 143rd first-class match.

    Nice start to the season.

  8. 50 runs

for Sam Robsonpublished at 12:31 British Summer Time 4 April

    Middx 90-1 v Lancs

Sam Robson reaches his first half-century of the season - and the first of the season at Lord's - off 60 balls.

Lancashire have now turned to debutant left-armer Ollie Sutton.

    Allison LBW b Lawrence 25 (Essex 78-1 v Surrey)

Surrey's Dan Lawrence celebrates taking a wicket against EssexImage source, Rex Features

Dan Lawrence produces the magic for the champions.

He gives one plenty of air and Charlie Allison retreats right back onto his stumps - big mistake as he is palpably LBW to Lawrence's fourth delivery.

Skipper Tom Westley makes his way to the wicket for Essex.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 19.2 overs

    Bairstow c Wheal b Baker 10 (Hants v Yorks 71-4)

The promising - and much talked about - Sonny Baker is called into the attack by Hampshire captain Ben Brown.

His first ball is swatted unceremoniously through the covers for four by Jonny Bairstow.

The next one is short and wide and Bairstow attempts a Bazball style uppercut. Brad Wheal says thank you very much on the third man boundary.

    A totally unnecessary dismissal.

  11. 'Have Somerset made the wrong call?'published at 12:24 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 91-1

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Have Somerset misjudged their own pitch?

Asking Worcestershire to bat might have seemed the right call at 10.30am under overcast skies.

An opening partnership of 70 at five an over between Jake Libby and Gareth Roderick raised significant doubts.

Jack Leach has had Libby caught at slip, but so far it has been the visitors’ morning, especially given the sunshine which we’re expecting for the rest of the day.

  12. Postpublished at 19 overs

    Hants v Yorks 67-3

Jonny Bairstow is being made to work by accurate Hampshire bowling so far in his innings.

One Bazball style swivel and pull failed to make contact with the ball and he has also survived a confident lbw shout from the home side.

The Yorkshire skipper is six not out from 20 balls faced, and partner Dawid Malan has 21.

  13. Postpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 75-0 v Surrey

Surrey have gone through their seam bowling options but can't find a breakthrough.

Matthew Fisher drops one short and Charlie Allison swats it away to the deep backward square-leg boundary.

Former Essex favourite Dan Lawrence is into the attack with his spin variations.

  14. 50 runs

50 partnershippublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 80-2

Colin Ackermann brings up a 72-ball fifty partnertship for the third wicket with Alex Lees (35) in style.

He picks up Lyndon James, on for his third over, and lifts a legside ball over the short legside boundary for the first six of the match.

James' radar goes awry and he sends one wide down the leg which runs away for four.

Just the tonic for Durham. Ackermann looks, as he often does, in control.

  15. Excellent spell by Baileypublished at 19 overs

    Middx 79-1 v Lancs

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire commentator

In front of a well-populated Pavilion, with members busy hustling for their preferred seats and in doing so holding up play on a few occasions, Tom Bailey bowled an excellent opening spell for Lancashire.

Bailey's 1-27 from seven overs didn't do him justice, with 13 runs coming off the final over of his initial spell as he beat the bat and found the edge a number of times.

It was matched by some gritty and skilful batting from Sam Robson and Max Holden, who will be hoping that their efforts to get through that spell will pay off later in the day.

  16. Postpublished at 12:19 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 85-1

Gareth Roderick gets down on one knee and pulls out the reverse sweep, sending Jack Leach's second ball of his fourth over to the rope.

Then he goes big and swats Leach over the top of long-on for a one-bounce four in front of the Ian Botham Stand and Roderick marches on to 43.

  17. Postpublished at 12:17 British Summer Time 4 April

    Hants v Yorks 59-3

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

I think the bowling has been pretty steady.

I think they've tested all the batters so far this morning, there's been a little bit of movement.

Kyle Abbott dropped into that groove for a little, he's caused one or two problems and picked up a wicket.

  18. Overton back into the attack.published at 12:15 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 77-1

Craig Overton returns to the attack with a point to prove after being withdrawn after just three overs which went for 17 runs.

Kasey Aldridge still waiting to turn his arm over for the first time.

Gareth Roderick plays out four dots before the fifth ball squares him up a little and squirts off the inside edge down to the fine leg boundary.

A brilliant diving stop on the rope keeps it down to three. Better from the Somerset man.

  19. Postpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex (64-3)

Sussex have steadied the ship after losing Daniel Hughes and Tom Alsop to successive deliveries with the score on 40.

Ethan Bamber, the man with all three wickets, has finished his first spell with 3-8 from seven overs.

  20. Division Two updatepublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 4 April

This could be a big season for Tawanda Muyeye who is batting at four for Kent against Northants, when he is often at the top of the order. He has 15 not out and the visitors are 58-2 in the 18th over.

Gloucestershire are now 50-2 in the 18th over at Derby. Ben Charlesworth was the second man to go, caught by home skipper Wayne Madsen off Luis Reece for 22.

At Sophia Gardens, Eddie Byrom is still going well for Glamorgan, he is 37 not out in their 61-2 in the 18th against Leicestershire.
