    Notts v Durham 29-2

New man at the crease Colin Ackermann gets his season up and running with a four off his third ball.

Fergus O'Neill almost gets swift retribution as he pins Ackermann in front, but maybe a bit of bat on that?

A few more oohs and aahs from the slips as he slides a couple more past the edge. Great comeback from the Aussie.

  2. Hat-trick avertedpublished at 11:43 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 40-3

Ethan Bamber comes roaring in with four slips crouched ready but James Coles spoils it for the home support by driving the ball back past the bowler for four.

End of the over, take a breath everyone.

    Bean c Dawson b Hampton 14 (Hants v Yorks 28-2)

Our first look at Hampshire signing Brett Hampton.

He is short and wide in his opening over and Finlay Bean stands tall and cracks it away square for four.

The New Zealander then overpitches but Bean fails to get on top of a flashing drive and the catch is taken at point by Liam Dawson.

    Both Yorkshire openers have gone.

  4. wicket

    Alsop c Yates b Bamber 0 (Warks v Sussex 40-3)

    Bamber on a hat-trick!

What a day he is having as Tom Alsop's stay at the wicket lasts one ball - Bamber gets him nicking one behind.

    Hants v Yorks 18-1

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

My first thought was he's going to get away with that.

That's a big wicket to get Adam Lyth. He got the most runs for Yorkshire last year - averaging 57.

You want to make the most of it. Kyle Abbott had another good season last year with 55 wickets, he's chalked one up already this morning.

  6. 50 runs

50 up for Worcestershirepublished at 11:39 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 52-0

It's been a good start for the visitors as they make good progress at Taunton.

Gareth Roderick picks up a couple off Josh Davey continues into a fifth over to bring up 50 for the Pears off 9.2 overs. Or 56 balls if you like.

    Hughes LBW b Bamber 19 (Warks v Sussex 40-2)

    Another one for Ethan Bamber.

He is enjoying his debut as Daniel Hughes is a second man trapped in front.

Durham in a spot of bother here as the decision to put the visitors in for first bat appears to be paying off.

It's a carbon copy of the first as Fergus O'Neill, in over the wicket angles one across Emiliano Gay who edges and gives Joe Clarke his second catch of the day.

    A seven-ball duck for Gay and O'Neill has 2-13 on debut. Wicket-maiden.

  9. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 24-1

Frustration for Dillon Pennington as Lyndon James grasses a regulation catch off Alex Lees at first slip.

A lifeline for Lees on 17 and another dangerous over from the Notts bowler which costs just the single.

  10. Bamber bowling wellpublished at 11:31 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 31-1

Ethan Bamber has taken his first wicket for Warwickshire this morning having made the winter switch from Middlesex.

He is getting a bit of nip on a wicket which has that early-season green look about it.

The home side are without the injured duo Chris Rushworth and Olly Hannon-Dalby.

  11. Postpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 30-0

Ooof! So close to a run-out as Gareth Roderick drives down the ground and sets off for a quick single.

Tom Lammonby is quick to pick up at mid-on and hurls the ball a whisker over the top of the stumps.

Somerset skipper Lewis Gregory is not a man to et the grass grow under his feet and makes a change after just six overs.

He brings himself on for Craig Overton whose opening three overs has been too costly for his liking. Just the boundary off it to Roderick who moves to 21.

  12. wicket

Lyth lbw Abbott 13 (Hants v Yorks 18-1)

    Kyle Abbott strikes.

Having switched to round the wicket, he beats Adam Lyth's defensive push and his lbw shout is upheld by the umpire.

James Wharton will replace Lyth at the crease. In case you have forgotten, he ended last season by scoring 285 against Northants.

  13. Division Two updatepublished at 11:26 British Summer Time 4 April

Derbyshire have the first Gloucestershire wicket, with Chris Dent caught behind down the leg-side off Luis Reece for two. The visitors are 23-1 in the sixth over, with Ben Charlesworth 21 not out.

Following the early loss of Zain ul-Hassan, Glamorgan are 17-1 in the sixth over against Leicestershire. Eddie Byrom has eight and Sam Northeast is four not out.

    McKinney c Clarke b O'Neill 5 (Notts v Durham 22-1)

    Breakthrough at Trent Bridge!

Fergus O'Neill has found the edge three or four times without reward, but now he has his first wicket for Notts.

Ben McKinney had toiled for five off 14 runs and has had enough. He flashes at a ball outside off stump and is pouched by Joe Clarke behind the timbers.

Emiliano Gay is the new man.

Wicket at Lord's where Nathan Fernandes edges to the keeper, giving Tom Bailey his first wicket of the season.

Max Holden is the new batter, with Sam Robson on four not out.

  16. Postpublished at 11:20 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset v Worcs 22-0

Nice touch from Gareth Roderick as he flicks a wayward Craig Overton shot off his pads for his first boundary.

A flick through the legside is hauled down inside the rope by Jack Leach and they settle for two.

Roderick looks at home already and sends the final ball of Overton's third over through midwicket for another four. He's up to 15 off 21 balls.

  17. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 4 April

Haines LBW Bamber 17 (Warks v Sussex 21-1)

A first Warwickshire wicket for Ethan Bamber.

Tom Haines had found the boundary on four occasions with some attractive stroke play but is trapped in front by Bamber and has to trudge off.

  18. Solid start from Essexpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 16-0 v Surrey

A solid start from Essex as they look to put down an early marker against the champions.

Paul Walter has found the boundary three times while Charlie Allison had to wait two overs before facing his first delivery and has survived an LBW shout from Jordan Clark.

There is a greenish tinge to the Chelmsford wicket but not a lot happening for the bowlers at the moment.

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:17 British Summer Time 4 April

    Crawley b Guthrie 1 (Northants v Kent 8-1)

What a moment for Liam Guthrie - an Aussie with a UK passport - as he marks his Championship debut with the prized scalp of England's Zak Crawley.

Not the start to the season the Kent opener would have wanted as he looks to play himself into form ahead of the summer's Tests.

Daniel Bell-Drummond is two not out and Ben Compton has yet to score.

  20. Postpublished at 11:16 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts 16-0 v Durham

Dillon Pennington is looking handy early on in his spell.

He goes past Ben McKinney's outside edge before the England prospect gets off the mark with a nerve-busting single.

The Notts bowler then lets an aalmighty roar as he wraps Alex Lees on the pads. Nothing doing. Just one from the over.

More frustration for Fergus O'Neill as a McKinney edge runs to the rope for his first boundary.
