  1. 6 runs

Postpublished at 16:30 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 252-4

John Simpson launches Tazeem Ali over the long-one fence for the first six of the innings and brings up the Sussex 250 as well.

Oh, and there's a batting point as well.

  2. Postpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 65-3 v Worcs 154

Adam Finch goes a little full and Tom Banton cashes in, stroking it through mid-wicket for his third boundary.

Matthew Waite comes into the attack for the first time this innings and draws a streaky shot from Banton, but it still finds the rope for another four.

He moves to 21 off 17 balls.

  3. The final session starts at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 231-3 v Surrey

We are back out for the evening session at Chelmsford.

Surrey have been boosted by getting rid of Paul Walter just before the interval and they would dearly like to see the back of Jordan Cox who has moved through the gears to reach 59 not out.

  4. Postpublished at 16:24 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 243-4

Tazeem Ali started the over with a long-hop and finishes it likewise as Tom Clark pulls away to the fence to go to 81 not out.

The runs keep coming for Sussex.

  5. Aspinwall bounces back for Lancashirepublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 4 April

    Middlesex 245-8 v Lancashire - tea

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

A superb fightback since lunch by Lancashire, set up by Will Williams and George Balderson, whose stranglehold was then rewarded with two wickets each for Tom Aspinwall and Ollie Sutton.

Max Holden and Leus du Plooy had just brought up a 50 partnership, but following Holden's dismissal to the bowling of Williams, the Red Rose have taken 5-67.

Aspinwall bowled just three overs in the morning session, going for 21 runs, in the afternoon sun he returned with 2-6 from four overs.

  6. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 239-4

Tazeem Ali drops one short and wide of off-stump and John Simpson takes full advantage by cutting it to the point boundary for four.

Not the best way to return after tea for the spinner.

  7. Evening session begins at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 243-5

Graham Clark (34) and century-maker Colin Ackermann (104) resume their sixth-wicket stand of 72.

Young Notts skipper Farhan Ahmed opens up after tea.

  8. Key wickets encourage Surreypublished at 16:21 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 231-3 v Surrey - tea

    Victoria Polley
    BBC Essex Sports Editor

That was a big blow for Essex to lose Paul Walter before tea.

He looked desperate to get just his third first-class century before the break, having been promoted to open the batting, but took a big swing at one from Matthew Fisher and had to depart.

It was another cheap wicket after captain Tom Westley spooned one straight to Jamie Smith.

Essex have looked positive with the bat but a couple of key wickets will be encouraging for Surrey going into the final session.

  9. Evening session under way at Tauntonpublished at 16:20 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 53-3 v Worcs 154

Somerset resume just 101 runs adrift of Worcestershire's modest first innings total, but have lost wickets at regular intervals.

The twin Toms, Banton and Abell are back in the middle to build on their 14-run partnership.

Banton showed plenty of intent before the tea break.

Adam Finch (1-13) opens the bowling.

  10. Tea at Derbypublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 4 April

    Derbyshire v Gloucestershire 198-6

An unbroken stand of 60 between Graeme van Buuren and Zaman Akhter has revived Gloucestershire at Derby after they were reduced to 138-6.

Van Buuren has hit 10 fours in his 67 not out, while Anuj Dal has been the pick of Derbyshire's attack with 4-26 from 14 accurate overs.

The home side will hope to break this partnership early after tea in the hope of cleaning up the tail before stumps.

  11. Play resumes at Edgbastonpublished at 16:18 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 234-4

Off we go again at Edgbaston where Sussex have done so well to rebuild from 40-3.

That must seem a long time ago now for the home attack.

  12. Tea at Lord'spublished at 64 overs

    Middlesex 245-8 v Lancashire

Zafar Gohar plays out a Luke Wells maiden to end an afternoon session which saw Lancashire fight back strongly.

Middlesex resumed on 130-2, but lost Max Holden for 69 and five further wickets went down for the addition of only 30 runs.

Newcomer Ollie Sutton and Tom Aspinwall have two wickets each, a fine effort by the younger element in Lancashire's attack.

On the plus side for Middlesex, they only need five more runs for a batting point.

  13. Tea at Utilita Bowlpublished at 27 overs

    Hampshire 77-1 v Yorkshire 121

Hampshire's session after bowling out Yorkshire in just 34.4 overs.

The Tykes only added 15 to their 106-5 at lunch as Kyle Abbott and Liam Dawson picked up three wickets each.

It looked like the home side would reach tea unscathed until George Hill bowled Mark Stoneman for 46 off the inside edge.

Nick Gubbins takes a single off Hill to end the afternoon and Hampshire - runners-up in Division One last season - are just 44 behind.

  14. Tea at Wantage Roadpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 4 April

    Northamptonshire v Kent 231

Saif Zaib will start Kent's second innings on a hat-trick

The left-arm spinner ends their first by having Keith Dudgeon lbw and then bowling Nathan Gilchrist.

Northants took seven wickets during the afternoon after the visitors resumed on 128-3, three of them for Raphael Weatherall, including Tawanda Muyeye, who was bowled for 72.

New Northants coach Darren Lehmann will presumably be well satisfied with what he has seen from his team so far.

  15. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 16:07 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 231-3 v Surrey

Jordan Cox and Paul Walter punch gloves after sharing a century standImage source, Rex Features

No century for Paul Walter who was caught down the leg side for 95 but Essex are still in the box seat.

Walter added exactly 100 with Jordan Cox after Tom Westley was out to a soft dismissal off the bowling of Kemar Roach.

Cox took a while to get going but now seems in the groove and there are still plenty of runs on offer on a good pitch at Chelmsford.

Surrey limited the scoring rate early in the session but still conceded 117 runs.

  16. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:05 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 243-5

After moving to three figures with a lovely four down the ground off Josh Tongue, Colin Ackermann picks up a couple more.

Four dots then see out the over and the afternoon session.

Durham had looked in a little peril when Will Rhodes departed, with the score on 171-5.

But Ackermann and Graham Clark (34 not out) have consolidated things nicely.

Can they put the hammer down after tea?

  17. Tea at Sophia Gardenspublished at 64 overs

    Glamorgan 181-8 v Leicestershire

Two young England spinners are in opposition in Cardiff.

Shoaib Bashir blocks out the final five balls of the afternoon session from Rehan Ahmed but Leicestershire will be happy after picking up five Glamorgan wickets.

Ian Holland has figures of 3-40 and Ben Mike weighed in by removing Timm van der Gugten and Andy Gorvin.

  18. Century for lucky Ackermannpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 4 April

    Durham 241-5 v Notts. Ackermann 102

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Colin Ackermann has got a century on his 34th birthday.

He was bowled on 80 by Lyndon James, but the bail jumped off the stump and re-settled back into its groove!

It's his 27th in FC cricket and third for Durham.

It's the first in the County Championship this season as well. It came in 174 balls, 15x4 and 1x6.

He'll enjoy his birthday tea in a few minutes.

  19. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 53-3 v Worcs 154

Worcestershire turn to spin for the last over before tea as Tom Hinley joins the attack for the first time today.

Tom Abell picks up a solitary single to move to six and that's tea.

The Pears have rallied well after slumping to 154 all out, with Tom Taylor's excellent spell and two wickets putting the visitors back in the mix.

Tom Banton is unbeaten off a brisk 13 off 10 balls.

  20. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 16:02 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 232-4

Sussex added 144 runs in that session for just the loss of James Coles after a solid 50.

Tom Clark and John Simpson have accumulated nicely and the Warwickshire attack has looked a lot less threatening than it did this morning.
