Tom Clark reaches his fourth First Class century for Sussex.

The Haywards Heath born batter has played superbly on his First Division debut.

100 from 223 balls and hitting 15 boundaries.

  2. Middlesex all outpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 4 April

    Middx 260 v Lancs

Well bowled Tom Aspinwall, who has Henry Brookes lbw to finish with 4-32 as Middlesex are bowled out in the 69th over at Lord's.

The home side will be disappointed with that, having been 215-3, especially as it is Lancashire's younger brigade that have done most of the damage.

Ollie Sutton marked his first Championship appearance with the wickets of Ben Geddes and Jack Davies, while opener Sam Robson's 70 was the top score for Middlesex.

  3. 50 runs

50 partnership for Somersetpublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 93-3 v Worcs 154

Tom Abell is finding his timing and pulls out a fine on drive for four off Matthew Waite to bring up the 50 partnership with Tom Banton (33).

He then picks up a second boundary of the over to move to 25.

  4. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 273-6

George Drissell enjoyed a little fortune earlier when he so nearly dragged on to his own stumps.

But he cashes in with a nice drive down the ground off Farhan Ahmed for his first boundary as Durham eye a second batting point.

Lyndon James returns from the Radcliffe Road End.

  5. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 285-4

Home skipper Alex Davies is in a pickle.

His seamers are getting picked off as Vishwa Fernando is driven to the long-on rope by John Simpson and his spinner Tazeem Ali is also suffering.

Tom Clark has moved to 93 not out.

Sussex are on top and who would have expected that this morning when they were 40-3?

  6. Postpublished at 16:49 British Summer Time 4 April

    Somerset 84-3 v Worcs 154

Tom Abell enjoys a little fortune as he almost chips a Matthew Waite delivery straight to the man at midwicket.

Fortunately for him it drops short and he picks up three. A good probing over from Waite.

A more convincing drive through the covers almost gives Abell a boundary off Tom Taylor, but a piece of super committed fielding on the boundary rope keeps it to three.

Abell (17) and Tom Banton (33) have now put on 45 and are dragging Somerset back on to the front foot.

  7. Postpublished at 16:48 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 246-3 v Surrey

Surrey have taken their slips out now which is never a good sign for a team.

We are back to trying to frustrate Essex and Jordan Cox in particular who likes to get on with things.

  8. Five-wicket haul for Luis Reecepublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 4 April

    Derbys v Glos 207-9

Three wickets since tea for Luis Reece, who completes his fifth first-class five-for by having Marchant de Lange leg-before.

Derbyshire only won one of their 14 Championship games last season, but they have certainly laid an initial foundation for the possibility of one here.

  9. wicket

    Gohar b Aspinwall 6 (Middx 254-9 v Lancs)

Tom Aspinwall claims his third wicket of the innings by bowling Zafar Gohar in the third over of the final session at Lord's.

Middlesex do, though, have a first batting point - but a second looks a distant prospect with last man Henry Brookes now out in the middle.

  10. Postpublished at 16:45 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 274-4

John Simpson goes for the reverse sweep against Tazeem Ali again - he still gets four runs like the previous one but this time it's a thin connection that goes just past his stumps.

Warwickshire are leaking runs at a fair old lick.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 30.5 overs

    Gubbins c Hill b White 9 (Hants 86-2 v Yorks 121)

Good delivery from former Northants paceman Jack White and Nick Gubbins edges to first slip, where George Hill takes a fairly routine catch.

That will put a bit of belief into Yorkshire as Toby Albert comes out to bat for Hampshire - remember James Vince is on a white-ball only contract this season.

  12. Division Two updatepublished at 16:42 British Summer Time 4 April

Keith Dudgeon has his first County Championship wicket, bowling Northants opener Ricardo Vasconcelos for a single at Wantage Road. The home side are 18-1, replying to Kent's 231 all out.

They are back out at Derby and Marchant de Lange wallops Anuj Dal for four as Gloucestershire pass 200 in the 66th over of their innings.

Leicestershire are still waiting for their first post-tea success with Glamorgan now 201-8 after 69 overs at Sophia Gardens.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 4 April

    Clark c McCann b Tongue 45 (Notts v Durham 264-6)

A tough day for Josh Tongue just got a little tougher as Graham Clark sweeps him over the short boundary into the Smith Cooper Stand for six.

Just three balls later the Notts bowler gets his revenge.

Tongue draws an outside edge from Clark and Freddie McCann does the rest with a good low catch, diving to his right, at second slip.

Clark falls five runs short of a half-century and an important 93-run stand ends.

Tongue has 2-84 and George Drissell joins Colin Ackermann in the middle.

  14. 100 runs

100 partnershippublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 265-4

We're going through John Simpson's full repertoire now.

He has already dumped Tazeem Ali over long-on for a six and now he reverse sweeps the spinner for four and that brings up the 100 partnership between the Sussex skipper and Tom Clark.

  15. Postpublished at 16:36 British Summer Time 4 April

    Essex 244-3 v Surrey

Jordan Cox angles a Kemar Roach delivery away to the vacant third-man boundary all along the ground.

He now has 72 from 96 balls and there are ominous signs for Surrey.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 65 overs

    Van Buuren c Chappell b Reece 67 (Derbys v Glos 198-7)

First ball after tea and Luis Reece removes Graeme van Buuren with the help of Zak Chappell's catch.

And it's two in the over as he bowls Zaman Akhter - who helped van Buuren add 60 for the seventh wicket - for 24.

Left-armer Reece now has 4-46 from 18 overs.

  17. Postpublished at 28 overs

    Hants 78-1 v Yorks 121

The action resumes at the Utilita Bowl and Dom Bess' second delivery offers the tiniest hint of turn.

Just one single from it as Nick Gubbins moves to five not out.

  18. Sussex 'very much in control'published at 16:32 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 254-4

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

It's turning into a difficult day for Warwickshire having started so well with those three early wickets from Ethan Bamber.

The bowlers need to maintain a little bit of control, but it's not really happening at the moment.

A flurry of wickets could change things. but at the moment it's very much Sussex in control.

  19. 50 runs

50 for John Simpsonpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 4 April

    Warks v Sussex 254-4

Fifty from 68 balls for the Sussex captain John Simpson.

It's his 72nd in the First Class game and everything is going the way of Sussex.

  20. Durham earn first batting pointpublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 4 April

    Notts v Durham 253-5

Farhan Ahmed's 11th over costs just the single to Graham Clark. Tidy stuff.

Josh Tongue is back on from the Radcliffe Road end for his 15th over.

He's been expensive today, but this over is tidy enough until Colin Ackermann drives his final ball for four.

Ackermann goes to 109 and it takes Durham to their first batting point.
