Will the rain stay away while they do?

There's no reason why every tourist who comes to England shouldn't play a game against Scotland. It should be factored in.

The next inspection is at 21:00 BST. I reckon that's the crunch point, mainly because of the mopping-up time. If there's nothing positive by then, I reckon it's toast.

Rock paper scissors, arm wrestling, top trumps, gin rummy… anything to decide a win rather than just admitting defeat to the weather surely?

Just to clarify, the latest we can start is 21:46 BST, not 21:48 as I said earlier. Those two minutes could be crucial...

I think it's hard to make any firm judgements about anything we have seen in the last 10 days, because we're talking about one match. I was looking forward to England v South Africa and West Indies because they were looking like a dangerous team. Australia spoke about wanting to knock out England because they didn't want to play them in the knockouts.

I remember being at Old Trafford this time last year, eating my £9 chicken selects, watching Jimmy Anderson and Stuart Broad play One Bounce pretending like it wasn’t chucking it down. Feeling just as hopeless now as I did then.

It's still beautiful, hot and sunny in English Harbour, just 5 miles away. An hour of this and it will be playable.

  10. 'Who are the next white-ball players?'published at 19:57 British Summer Time 15 June

    Rory Dollard

It's not exactly clear who the next people to play in this team are. It's not as though we have Jason Roy and Alex Hales who were overwhelming candidates to come into the team in 2015. We send 50 or 60 players to overseas franchise leagues every winter, but are there four or five who stand head and shoulders above everyone else waiting to come in? I don't think there is.

England could do with some new names lighting up The Hundred this summer, for instance.

  12. 'How do you prioritise white-ball when Ashes on horizon?'published at 19:55 British Summer Time 15 June

    Rory Dollard
    Press Association

England have actually dropped new faces and new blood into their squads because they don't often have their Test cricketers available. A lot of love went into the Test team at the expense of the white-ball team, partly down to the fact they thought the white-ball team would be ok. But it's not and I don't know how you can reverse that priority when there's an Ashes series next winter.

England's players are on the outfield, taking some high catches. Chris Jordan and Jonny Bairstow are with coach Kieron Pollard, talking to a member of the groundstaff. Some of the Namibia squad are out there too. Optimism? I don't know anymore.

  15. 'A time of renewal'published at 19:51 British Summer Time 15 June

This is a time of renewal for England. This squad needs a fresh look and we need to see how that change will look.

In that Australia game last weekend, it felt like that aura has gone which they had when Eoin Morgan was in charge. Since Morgan, England have got progressively worse. Yes, they won the last T20 World Cup but not with a swagger.
