    James WhartonImage source, Rex Features

This is turning into some knock from James Wharton.

Having brought up his maiden first-class century yesterday, the Yorkshire number three moves to 150 off 180 balls.

Wharton has clattered 20 fours and four sixes at Queen's Park.

Two more and he will have doubled Derbyshire's entire first innings total.

  2. wicket

WICKET Browne c Smith b Worrall 12published at 11:49 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 12-1

Dean Elgar pushes defensively into the off side and then flicks the last ball leg side for no run to see out the over.

Nick Browne defends down the pitch to Dan Worrall and then leaves a wider ball outside off.

Out! Dan Worrall strikes with the fifth ball of his third over.

That ball swings in and holds its line, forcing Nick Browne to play it.

The ball takes the outside edge as Browne tries to defend and is taken waist high by Jamie Smith at third slip.

Tom Westley is in at three.

  3. 'Early lunch at Chester-le-Street'published at 11:48 British Summer Time 1 July

    Durham 190 & 33-3 v Worcs 112 - Durham lead by 111

    Trevor Owens
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

There will be an early lunch at 12:30 at Chester-le-Street with a view to play then starting at 13:10 - assuming there is no further rain.

  4. Cox to miss rest of crucial clashpublished at 11:47 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 12-0

Essex have confirmed that Jordan Cox will play no further part in the match against Surrey after surgery on his appendix overnight.

The club say their leading red-ball run scorer this season is likely to need a two-week recovery period.

Frustratingly for Essex, no replacement is allowed for the rest of the clash at The Oval.

  5. ouch!

Elgar struck on the arm by Jordan Clarkpublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 12-0

Dean Elgar has one hand off the bat defending his wicket against Jordan Clark as he deflects the ball just short of the keeper.

That struck the arm and he has peeled off his glove and backed away to square leg.

That ball got up a bit on a length. Painful.

The physio is coming on with the magic spray.

That might have hit him on the elbow.

  6. Postpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 1 July

    Hampshire 335-4 v Kent

James Vince made 166 last week, he has 175 and counting this week.

He is expending the absolute minimum of effort. He stands in his crease and swats Charlie Stobo's latest offering to the deep cover boundary for his 26th four.

Three balls later that becomes 27 and number 28 comes up from the fifth delivery. All through the covers. All without needing to move his feet. Not even a step offered towards a run.

He is in the zone and going through the gears.

  7. Postpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 12-0

More runs for Nick Browne, flicking Dan Worrall fine past a diving keeper for four.

There is a leg slip in place for Dan Worrall but the position is too wide to stop that shot.

Dan Worrall is getting the ball to nip back sharply off the pitch and swing away as Browne defends carefully down the ground.

  8. Postpublished at 11:36 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 8-0

Jordan Clark will bowl from the Pavilion End.

Three slips in for Dean Elgar, who is squared up with a play and edge outside off by the second ball.

The ball drops in front of third slip.

Elgar tries to push into the off side but the ball is picked up on the ground at point.

    Maiden over.

  9. It's raining at Southportpublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 1 July

    Lancashire 344-8 v Notts

We were hoping the players would be on the field by now, but sadly another sharp shower has swung in from the Irish Sea and the 11.30 BST start has been delayed again.

The players were warming-up on the field when the heavens opened.

    Cruel.

Further updates when we have them...

  10. wicket

WICKET Hill c du Plooy b Roland-Jones 8published at 11:35 British Summer Time 1 July

    Leics 179 & 63-4 v Middx 86 - Leics lead by 156

This game is in a hurry.

Leus du Plooy shells Lewis Hill off the bowling off Ryan Higgins at second slip.

But he makes amends in the next as Toby Roland-Jones gets extra bounce which catches Hill's bottom hand and bat handle and loops up to du Plooy.

The drop costs just five runs.

    Roland-Jones has 3-17 and will fancy a five-for.

    Harry Swindells joins Lewis Goldsworthy.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Jonathan Tattersallpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 1 July

    Derbys 76 v Yorks 315-5

    Jonathan TattersallImage source, Rex Features

Yorkshire continue to dominate as they pass 300 and Jonathan Tattersall brings up his 15th first-class half-century as he takes a couple off Zak Chappell.

It's come off 87 balls, with six fours, and the partnership with James Wharton reaches 150.

It's looking ominous for Derbyshire to put it mildly.

  12. Postpublished at 11:33 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 8-0

Nick Browne is off the mark fourth ball, clipping a length delivery behind square leg for four runs.

    Superb timing.

Four more driven through the off side, but Dan Worrall comes back strongly, beating the forward defensive just outside off stump.

  13. Essex begin their first innings at the Ovalpublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262 v Essex 0-0

Here comes Dean Elgar and Nick Browne.

The well worn phrase "crucial passage of play" is particularly apt here as Surrey fall a bit below a par score on this pitch.

But that computation could change in the blink of an eye if the hosts strike early this morning.

Nick Browne takes first strike, facing Dan Worrall, bowling from the Vauxhall End.

  14. wicket

WICKET Brown lbw b Stewart 110published at 11:25 British Summer Time 1 July

    Hampshire 315-4 v Kent

Grant Stewart has his man and Kent have broken the partnership.

Stewart gets one to nip back again and it raps Brown on the pads infront of leg stump.

After a long wait, up goes the finger and the stand ends for 259.

Liam Dawson is the new man in, joining James Vince (159*) in the quest for bonus points and a huge total.

  15. 'Heavy showers forecast at Chester-le-Street'published at 11:25 British Summer Time 1 July

    Durham 190 & 33-3 v Worcs 112 - Durham lead by 111

Chester-le-StreetImage source, Trevor Owens - BBC Sport

There is a delayed start at Chester-le-Street and the forecast is for heavy showers throughout the day.

23 wickets fell on day one with Durham due to resume their second innings on 33-3 - that's an overall lead of 111 runs.

Yesterday's clatter of wickets was a record for day one of a County Championship match at Chester-le-Street.

If they do get on, Worcestershire will be keen to get among them early as they won't want to be chasing much above 200 in the fourth innings.

  16. wicket

WICKET Currie lbw b Roland-Jones 10published at 11:25 British Summer Time 1 July

    Leics 179 & 58-3 v Middx 86 - Leics lead by 151

The wickets continue to fall at Grace Road as nightwatcher Scott Currie joins Rishi Patel back in the pavilion.

Toby Roland-Jones is enjoying the uneven bounce on offer and gets one to keep low - ankle-height - pinning Currie bang in front.

Middlesex are doing what they simply have to do.

  17. SURREY ALL OUT FOR 262 AT THE OVALpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 1 July
    Breaking

    Surrey 262 v Essex

    Shane SnaterImage source, Rex Features

Shane Snater beats Tom Lawes with another superb delivery that misses the top of the stumps by a whisker.

    Gone this time!

Superb catch from Simon Harmer above head height as Lawes goes for a lofted drive outside off and edges high to second slip.

Shane Snater wraps it up for the visiting team and ends up with 3-56 as Surrey fall a tad below par.

  18. Postpublished at 11:19 British Summer Time 1 July

    Hampshire 311-3 v Kent

Grant Stewart gets one to nip back at Ben Brown, thudding him above the knee roll, but despite a full-blooded appeal the finger stays down. Possibly outside the line.

Charlie Stobo then beats the edge of James Vince's blade with another decent delivery.

Kent are just not getting the breaks they need if they are to break this monstrous stand.

  19. Postpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 1 July

    Surrey 262-9 v Essex

Dan Worrall is right behind the line of the last ball of the over and he'll pick up a single first ball.

Jamie Porter continues from the Vauxhall End.

Worrall drives the second ball for a single.

Tom Lawes nudges the third ball leg side for one more.

Porter bangs one in short and looks quizzically at the umpire on being no-balled for height. Looked marginal at around head height.

    Four runs in that over.

  20. 'It feels like November out there'published at 11:18 British Summer Time 1 July

    Durham 190 & 33-3 v Worcs 112 - Durham lead by 111

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

The covers are on and it's very chilly.

It's the start of July but it feels like November out there.

At the moment it's a waiting game.

The ground staff have all the big covers on and they've protected the bowlers run-ups as well.
