Out walks Joe Root - without wishing to curse him, a big score here could move him second from fifth in the all-time Test run-scorer list.

He needs 30 to pass Rahul Dravid, 31 to bag Jacques Kallis and 120 to surpass Ricky Ponting - after that Sachin Tendulkar is some way off.

Root gets off the mark with a single behind square, before Ollie Pope strikes out to the ropes at mid-wicket.

The ball is fielded by Shardul Thakur but his foot touches the rope - that's four and England's 200.

Duckett has played magnificently but that got a bit big on him and he's feathered it behind.

Out of nowhere! It was short and wide and he flashed with the blade.

That's the first live bullet the AK47 has fired.

Flashes at it and caught behind!

Anshul Kamboj has a first wicket in Test cricket and he's denied Ben Duckett a century.

It's a loose shot from the England opener, wafting his bat and edging behind to sub wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel.

Duckett looks very despondent as he walks off.

jambarrell: The Ian Bell fan club was a tough gig and he averaged mid 40s, goodness knows how tough the Crawley club membership must be.

Anshul Kamboj's initials are AK. He has the number 47 on his back in the IPL for Chennai Super Kings. This AK47 is firing blanks on debut.

If only there a way I could respond to that, Ian - but alas I can't think of a reply...

Anyway, Anshul Kamboj's has returned in place of Mohammed Siraj - the debutant has conceded 29 runs from his first five overs in Test cricket.

Six runs come from his sixth, as Ollie Pope cuts his fourth delivery for four past gully - that's his first boundary.

As a batter, this could move towards not being a good pitch. If it's turning all the time you have time to get used to it. If it starts to spin every odd ball, it gets difficult because you have no idea where it's going to go.

We're starting to see it turn a bit now.

  12. Eng 186-1published at 36 overs

Ben Duckett takes a single to move into the 90s, before Ollie Pope knocks Ravindra Jadeja into mid-wicket and hurries through a two.

The England number three then edges onto his pads, and then sees a delivery pass sharply past his bat.

Dhruv Jurel whips off the bails and appeals for a stumping, but an umpire's check confirms Pope was in his crease.

Imagine, in years to come The Zak Crawley Fan Club and The Fans Of Zak Crawley could play a fiercely contested one-day match.

The plan of attack to Ben Duckett is to cramp him outside that off stump but if you do then just slightly lose it it drifts and he just clips it.

For the second over in a row, Ben Duckett hits Mohammed Siraj's opening delivery for four.

He hits the India seamer off his pads and the ball skips away to the ropes.

One further single takes Duckett to 89.

Ah, but is he Zac or Zak, Silas?

Do we need a second fan club - a Judean People's Front v People's Front of Judea situation?

Meanwhile Ollie Pope sends Ravindra Jadeja through mid-wicket for two to get off the mark.

In the three years before Ben Stokes took over as skipper, England's run-rate when batting in the second innings of a match was 2.84. The slowest of the big Test playing nations.

England's win percentage when batting second was 29.4% in this period.

Since the Stokes/McCullum era, their run-rate has been 4.38 when replying to an opposition's first innings total, the highest, by a margin, of all Test teams, and the corresponding win percentage has rocketed to 65.2%.
