If there isn't a breakthrough in the first 40 minutes, Ben Stokes will come into the bowling attack. He does such a good job at putting himself in to bowl for the right amount of time as captain. A lot of people struggle to do that.

I understand the argument that it is an entertainment business and people have paid money to watch it and that it's not great when one side is then at a disadvantage.

It's been kept this way for so many years and it's been fine, I don't think we should change it. If they do, I feel as if teams will bend t he rules. it will also take so much management with independant doctors and stuff like that.

If you've broken a bone, that is a serious injury. Then it's the question of how do we decide what a serious injury is, it's such a grey area. Maybe we need to set a certain time period that a player is out for before you can have a substitute.

Not having Rishabh Pant is a massive blow for India. What we have seen with this India side is that when one person is out, someone else always steps up.

Injuries do happen, it is the unfortunate thing about cricket. Did Rishabh Pant need to play the reverse sweep? At best he's gong to have 20% success with that shot. India can just go out and play freely though, they have got themselves in a good position.

Pant off injured after ball from Woakes hits his foot

A reminder that Rishabh Pant retired yesterday after being struck on the foot by a Chris Woakes delivery.

He is unlikely to return to the field in this Test, and we're expecting an announcement on his prospects from the India camp at some point today.

England take four wickets & Pant injured on hard-fought first day

Four wickets. 264 runs. A big lump on Rishabh Pant's foot.

An absorbing day one of the fourth Test at Old Trafford had plenty of intriguing action with neither side running away with it.

England will look to limit India's lead in the morning session, while Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur, who both resume on 19, will be keen to press on.

Plenty to look forward to, you'll want to stick with us.
