His partner may have fallen, but Ben Duckett is keen to keep going.

He expertly guides Mohammed Siraj's first ball between two slips, then powers another boundary through mid-on.

A firm pull brings another single and takes Duckett to 81 - that gives new batter Ollie Pope one ball to face, which he defends.

That is the best Zak Crawley has looked all series. The ball turned from the stump, that's important. This particular delivery turned from the fourth stump and as a batter you have to play that, you can't leave it.

That's out. That's clean. It's a very, very good catch. Zak Crawley is out, terrific innings. India are in a huddle here, they've got an opportunity.

    Crawley c Rahul b Jadeja 84 (Eng 166-1)

That's out, KL Rahul has taken it cleanly.

It's an excellent catch, he had to swiftly get down very low.

Crawley will be very disappointed not to have converted a fine innings into a century, but an excellent contribution nonetheless.

Very smart catch from KL Rahul. It all happened very quickly.

  6. Umpire reviewpublished at 32 overs

Now then, is this the partnership broken?

Zak Crawley sweeps Ravindra Jadeja's last delivery for four, but the India spinner has over-stepped for the second time in this innings and he'll have to bowl again.

His follow-up takes the edge of Crawley's bat and KL Rahul takes the catch just above the ground.

The England opener stands firm - he wants to make sure this hasn't been grassed.

Duckett and Crawley don’t always get the credit they deserve. Well played.

My friend Josh set up a Zak Crawley fan club when he first started watching cricket back in 2021. There are only three members but this innings is vindication for Josh’s hard work and dedication.

The Indian bowlers need to bowl consistently in one area, something they haven't done very well today.

India feel a little flat, the bowlers aren't really helping to lift the fielders.

Somehow the skipper has to get everyone involved, they just need a spark.

A really important feature of these two as a pair is their running and rotating the strike. They can find the boundary but they also pick up a lot of singles.

  18. Eng 153-0published at 29 overs

150 partnership up for England's openers as a short ball from Mohammed Siraj is pulled by Ben Duckett to the backward square boundary.

It's been a superb outing by this pair.

The concerning bit from an Indian perspective is that you don't see the wicket they need coming anytime soon.
