So far, India have looked like a bottle of fizz with no fizz in it. They've really gone flat. The bowling has been nowhere near what we've seen them do throughout this series so far.

Shardul Thakur is still bowling far too straight, surely he's not going to bowl another over.

India need to change the tempo, they look a bit sluggish in the field, their body language isn't great. England have come out with real intent, some great shots. You just wonder if this is the session that might break them.

They need to change it up a bit, maybe look at the spinners. Jasprit Bumrah hasn't looked quite himself in this innings.

Shardul Thakur's figures don't improve as Zak Crawley finds the boundary twice in the space of three balls.

The England opener clips off his pads to the ropes at long-leg, then sends an edge between slip and gully.

Crawley now has 60 to Duckett's 57, having been on zero to his partner's 26 at the end of the sixth over.

  6. Eng 111-0published at 22 overs

A Ben Duckett single and a leg-bye come off Jasprit Bumrah's fourth over since tea.

He's conceded seven runs in that time, Shardul Thakur has cost 27 from the same number of overs.

Zak Crawley today has played against Jasprit Bumrah, leaving the ball outside off stump, letting it come to him. Maybe later the cracks will open up and it will stay a bit lower but his discipline has been excellent today.

  13. Eng 102-0published at 20 overs

Jasprit Bumrah sends down a maiden to Zak Crawley, who stands still on 47.

It's got a fair bit sunnier in Manchester over the last hour or so, it's looking rather pleasant out there.

England made it to 96 in just 18 overs. That's pretty rapid. Took India 30 overs to reach that figure.

Ben Duckett has played really well. He's played with good balance this innings, the field is spread and he's just finding all the gaps. It's been a typical Duckett style innings from him.

Re Dan @ 15:40: Controversial as it would require Joe Root to get a few low scores in this and the next Test - but wouldn’t it be class if Root went past Ricky Ponting in the first Test down under?

    Dan

Tomorrow please. We don’t want to see him out there today!
