  2. Postpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 281-5 v Northants 496

A timely breakthrough for Northants, who remember have only ever beaten Lancashire on this ground on four occasions.

Liam Guthrie bowls short to Josh Bohannon, who pulls fine for one.

More pads and head gear are being brought on to the field for Calvin Harrison's next over. We have a slip and a forward short leg.

Single to Bohannon to deep mid wicket. He has 146.

Leg slip, silly point and slip in.

Harrison finds the edge at one stage but the ball lands safely as Wells defends.

  3. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 162-5, target 339 to beat Durham

Frustration for Durham as Will Rhodes finds the edge of his old teammate Ed Barnard's bat, only for the edge to fly to keeper Ollie Robinson's right and the left of Colin Ackermann at second slip and away for four.

Barnard has 37* and Kai Smith 29*, their partnership is up to 72 and the required rate is below 3.5 an over.

  4. dropped catch

Allison dropped on 4published at 2 overs

    Essex 9-0 & 367 (target 366) v Notts 347 & 385

Difficult chance off the bowling of Fergus O'Neill arrives to the left of second slip where Lyndon James makes a valiant but unsuccessful attempt.

    Hurst c Vasconcelos b Harrison 8 (Lancs 228 & 276-5 v Northants 496)

Out! Lancashire eight ahead with five wickets left.

There has been some pundit speculation that Calvin Harrison might be a key player and he now has eight wickets in the match.

Matty Hurst edges the ball low to Ricardo Vasconelos at slip off a forward defensive and now Lancashire's Luke Wells is in the middle.

  6. Postpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 165-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

A play and a miss from Toby Albert, now facing the off spin of Dan Lawrence but he gets away with a single to deep mid wicket off the third ball of the over.

Steady progress for Hampshire this afternoon with only very occasional miscues.

Rain stops play at Bristolpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 14 April

Glamorgan 248-4 – lead Gloucestershire by 87 runs

One of those April showers has come to Glamorgan's aid.

Gloucestershire head for the dressing room feeling very hard done by.

The Shire have gone 11 home matches since their last win at Bristol in the county championship, last beating Warwickshire in September 2022.

At this rate the wait will go on...

  8. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 275-4 f/o v Northants 496

Liam Guthrie bowls short from around the wicket to Josh Bohannon who ducks underneath the ball.

He gets a single to square leg off the fifth ball and Matty Hurst goes back and jabs a block into the on side.

    Lancashire are seven ahead.

  9. Postpublished at 14:46 British Summer Time 14 April

Glamorgan 247-4 – lead Gloucestershire by 86 runs

No nerves here... Ben Kellaway gets off the mark with quick-step down the track and an almighty six over long-on off Ollie Price.

The light isn't great at Bristol, though the meters haven't come out yet - though we have spinners on with the old ball at present.

  10. Postpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 162-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

Nick Gubbins moves into the 70s with a thick edge via a flashing drive that scythes the ball past the keeper and down to the boundary for four.

The partnership with Toby Albert is now worth 59.

  11. Postpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 14 April

Glamorgan 239-4, leading Gloucestershire by 78

Kiran Carlson goes for 49, getting a bottom edge to one which rises off the placid track from Ollie Price, with James Bracey taking the catch stood up to the pipes to end that stand with Colin Ingram.

Ben Kellaway is the new batter.

Six overs until the hosts can take a new ball.

    This is not petering out.

  12. Deficit wiped out by Lancashirepublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 271-4 f/o v Northants 496

Lovely footwork and balance from Josh Bohanon as he drives Liam Guthrie through extra cover for four.

Leg spinner Calvin Harrison continues from the Anderson End.

Single to Matty Hurst and Bohannon gets four more runs driven through extra cover and Lancashire are in front by three.

Lovely delivery, too good for the Somerset man, brings an end to an entertaining knock from Pretorius and edges Sussex another step closer to the win.

    Clive Eakin

Kai Smith and Ed Barnard have settled things down.

They've got a partnership going now. They're frustrating the bowlers.

They look pretty comfortable at the moment.

  15. Postpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 156-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

At what stage do Surrey start to get a bit twitchy?

Jordan Clark is into his 11th over of the innings and Nick Gubbins works the ball to square leg for one to reach 67.

A half shout for LBW is turned down next ball as Toby Albert scrambles a leg bye. Missing leg, surely.

  16. Barnard and Smith resisting Durhampublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 14 April

    Warwickshire 141-5 v Durham. Target 339.

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Following a flurry of wickets just before lunch, there's been nothing since.

Kai Smith and Ed Barnard are batting nicely and eating up overs on this final day in CLS. Their 50 partnership has come in 83 balls.

There are 55 overs left in the day and The Bears need another 199 to win at 3.6 an over. That side of things is doable. But a wicket or two will change things greatly. Durham just need to keep plugging away and believe the wickets will come.

  17. 50 runs

50 partnership for Bearspublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 140-5, target 339 to beat Durham

Ed Barnard and Kai Smith have steadied a Warwickshire ship which was taking on plenty of water before lunch with a timely 50-run stand.

Barnard has 29* with Smith on 15*.

Their required rate is a lick over 3.5 an over but with five down, they're taking it a ball at a time.

  18. Postpublished at 14:34 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 262-4 f/o v Northants 496

Lancashire have got the deficit down to single figures as a slip and a gully come in for Raphy Weatherall and Matty Hurst plays carefully into the on side for no run to see out the over.

Josh Bohannon works leg spinner Calvin Harrison past short leg and Lancashire are a hit away from parity.

    Six behind.

Glamorgan 230-3 – lead Gloucestershire by 69 runs

Another boundary off Graeme van Buuren brings up Colin Ingram's half-century, with eight fours and from 117 balls.

The Shire are desperate for a wicket as they seek to end their long spell without a win at HQ.
