  1. Postpublished at 68 overs

    Somerset 212-7 & 201 (target 595) v Sussex 294 & 501-7d

Four added in the first over after lunch as Somerset continue to fight what is surely going to be a losing battle.

  2. Play resumes at Hovepublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 14 April

Somerset 208-7 - target 595 to beat Sussex

63 overs to come, Sussex need three wickets, Somerset need a mathematical miracle.

Sussex are trying to seal their first home win in the top tier in nearly a decade.

Ollie Robinson was on the outfield in the interval, going through his paces. The England paceman is hoping to be fit to face Surrey on Friday. One not to miss, that...

  3. Afternoon session begins at Old Traffordpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 221-3 f/o v Northants 496

The morning session of play today belonged to Lancashire and Northants need to find a way to try and take wickets while they still hold the innings advantage.

The afternoon forecast is patchy and they can't afford a lengthy run chase batting last.

Marcus Harris is eyeing up a third score of 50 or more for the Red Rose this season on 43 not out and he will face Calvin Harrison's leg spin to get us started.

Josh Bohannon reached his 4th career century v Northants just before lunch and is now at the other end unbeaten on 105.

  4. Play resumes at the Ovalpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 14 April

Hants 121-4 - target 377 to beat Surrey

256 needed from here and still 69 overs remaining.

The Oval pitch remains a good one though we did see a bit of movement when Matt Fisher bowled in the morning session.

Nick Gubbins is 56 not out and he'll face Dan Worrall first up.

A watchful Toby Albert is at the other end on one from 27 deliveries.

  5. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 114 overs

    Notts 375-9 & 347 (lead by 355 runs) v Essex 367

And that is finally lunch, 40 minutes late, but enough for Jack Haynes to post a PB in first class cricket having raced to an unbeaten 135 (in 208 deliveries).

No news about a declaration (yet) but Notts have a 355 lead with 56 overs left in the day. Back here at around 2.15pm for what will be a delayed middle session.

  6. Play resumes at CLSpublished at 13:38 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 90-5, target 339 to beat Durham

Kai Smith joins Ed Barnard seeking to stem the Durham onslaught after lunch.

The hosts are halfway to securing a fine victory.

Kent might have made a perfect start to lead the way in Division Two, beating Middlesex by eight wickets yesterday after an opening round romp at Northants, but they have suffered a big blow.

South African right-arm seamer Keith Dudgeon sustained a knee injury in training on Thursday and after undergoing scans his early-season stint at Canterbury has been cut short and he will head home for rehab in South Africa.

Dudgeon - who came recommended by Joe Root - took eight wickets on debut in Northampton, including best first-class figures of 7-36 in the second innings.

  8. Postpublished at 112 overs

    Notts 366-9 & 347 (lead by 346 runs) v Essex 367

Reaching the century has freed up Haynes who has raced to 129 since bringing up his first hundred including three well struck fours in the final three balls of that Sam Cook over.

It is a flurry could signal a lunchtime declaration given we are in an extended session on account of the nine wickets down.

One more over to come and Noah Thain will bowl it.

  9. 'Surely just a matter of time' for Sussexpublished at 13:20 British Summer Time 14 April

    Sussex 294 & 501-7 dec v Somerset 201 & 208-7 - lunch

    Tom AbellImage source, Rex Features

For as long as Tom Abell and Lewis Gregory were together, Somerset's hopes of saving this game were still just about alive, despite the loss of two early wickets to the pace of Jayden Seales.

But when Abell was brilliantly caught by Tom Alsop, looking for the boundary that would have taken him to a well-deserved and classy century, those hopes were finally dashed.

Gregory is still there, the pitch is still perfectly playable and the Sussex attack has been weakened by the absence through injury of Sean Hiunt, but a first victory for Sussex in the first division since 2015 is surely now just a matter of time.

  10. 100 runs

100 for Haynespublished at 109 overs

    Notts 333-9 & 347 (lead by 313 runs) v Essex 367

Jack Haynes celebratesImage source, Rex Features

A nervy first five balls as Essex try their best to put Jack Haynes off his stride and he keeps picking out the fielders, but a cover drive on the final ball of Simon Harmer's over brings his century.

It is his sixth first class hundred but a first under a Notts helmet and he is congratulated by his mate Dillon Pennington and the whole of the home balcony.

  11. Glamorgan happy to 'grind it out' in Bristolpublished at 13:15 British Summer Time 14 April

    Gloucestershire 546 v Glamorgan 385 & 181-3 - lunch

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Glamorgan's Kiran CarlsonImage source, Rex Features

It’s been a grim survival battle for Glamorgan at a chilly and grey Bristol after Gloucestershire made a flying start to the day, dismissing Eddie Byrom, Sam Northeast and Zain Ul Hassan in the first five overs of the session.

Matt Taylor induced both openers to edge to slip after a century stand, while Ajeet Singh Dale had Northeast caught behind and could have got rid of Kiran Carlson early on with veteran Chris Dent almost pulling off a miracle grab at short-leg.

Both Carlson and yesterday’s centurion Colin Ingram were happy to grind it out against a tiring attack who have now been in the field for 169 overs, but a precarious lead of 20 should leave Gloucestershire in the hunt with the new ball if the weather and light hold.

  13. Milestone for Pottspublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 14 April

Warwickshire 90-5 need another 249 to beat Durham

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Matthew Potts is playing in his 50th First Class match for Durham and has just notched his 200th FC wicket for them.

He returned to the attack in the 30th over and got Sam Hain with his first ball. It was a casual waft which saw the batsman caught behind for two. Next ball Dan Mousley guided a catch to Daniel Hogg at mid-on to get a first-baller.

Ed Barnard saw off the hat-trick ball, but moments after that Ben Raine struck again to get Hamza Shaikh caught behind for 28. Earlier Raine bowled Rob Yates for three and got Alex Davies LBW for 50.

Davies fell in the 25th over and his dismissal sparked a collapse of 4-9 in six overs. It's now lunch.

  14. Lunch at Hovepublished at 67 overs

    Somerset 208-7 & 201 (target 595) v Sussex 294 & 501-7d

The departure of Tom Abell two overs before the end of the session struck a significant and almost certainly fatal blow in Somerset's hopes of salvaging something from this.

Lewis Gregory (26) and Migael Pretorius (1) remain unbeaten at the crease but this has a 'matter of time' feel about it now with Somerset seven down and still 387 runs away from victory.

For Sussex lunch will taste that much better safe in the knowledge they are now unbackable long odds on for a first victory in the top flight since September 2015 and a first here at Hove since May earlier in the same season.

  15. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 14 April

    Lancs 228 & 221-3 f/o v Northants 496

A dispiriting session of play for Northants, who now only have an innings lead of 47.

Resolute batting from Josh Bohannon for his unbeaten 105 and some fine shots on show from Marcus Harris, who lunches on 43 not out.

In truth there is little in this pitch for the bowlers, save for the occasional ball keeping low.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 14 April

    #bbccricket

It's lunch at Bristol where Glamorgan have inched 20 runs ahead of Gloucestershire with seven wickets remaining following-on.

Kiran Carlson (28*) and Colin Ingram (26*) have steadied the ship after three wickets in 13 deliveries in the early morning murk.

At Grace Road Derbyshire's Caleb Jewell (29*) and Harry Came (*8 from 56 balls) are ticking along in their attempt to thwart Leicestershire, who piled on early morning runs before setting the visitors a target of 449 which looks increasingly nominal.

  17. Lunch at the Ovalpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 14 April

    Hants 121-4 - target 377

Hampshire will be delighted with their progress this morning after a fraught passage of play on a gloomy Sunday evening.

Kemar roach bowls outside off stump and Nick Gubbins beats Rory Burns at mid off with a sumptuous drive for four.

Burns may have got a hand to that.

Gubbins gets one more run flicked leg side to move to 56 and Toby Albert sees out the session.

Back in 40 minutes. Just the one wicket for Surrey in that session, Fletcha Middleson LBW to Matt Fisher for 42.

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 105.1 overs

    Hutton c Porter b Critchley 38 (Notts 319-8 & 347, lead by 299)

Right on the cusp of lunch that is straight down Jamie Porter's throat on the midwicket boundary.

Hutton was looking for another maximum off Critchley and has picked out the fielder.

Nervous moments for Jack Haynes at the other end who remains short of a first century in Notts colours.

Shaikh c Robinson b Raine 28 (Warwickshire 90-5 target 339 to beat Durham

It's been well and truly Durham's morning.

Ben Raine temps Hamza Shaik forward in defence but the 18-year-old can only feather an edge through to Ollie Robinson for a routine catch.

In the space of 39 balls Warwickshire have lost four wickets and are staring down the barrel at lunch.
