A great piece of fielding. London Spirit have got to start thinking about a total that they can defend.

You need 130-140 minimum on this pitch but they have a long way to go for that.

Hayley Matthews is celebrating. Has she gone? Issy Wong is walking off.

'incredible' fielding from Elwiss leads to direct hit run out

    Fantastic fielding from Georgia Elwiss!

Issy Wong pushes the ball into the covers and calls for the quick single - it was probably there but for some brilliant work from Elwiss.

She swoops in the covers, sliding to gather then - with one stump to aim at - throws down the stumps.

Issy Wong doesn't wait for the third umpire, she knows she was well short of her ground.

Hayley Matthews slowed that one up a bit and it went straight up. That is a huge loss for Spirit as that partnership was key.

It's the big one, that's what Fire wanted. The danger player is gone.

  6. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 57 balls

    Harris c Levick b Matthews 18 (Spirit 72-5)

Hayley Matthews takes the big wicket of Grace Harris!

It's round the wicket for Matthews, the ball pitches on leg stump and Harris tries to launch it over the onside.

She mistimes it, though, and the ball goes straight up.

"Oh no," the batter can be heard saying on the stump mic. She knew her fate. Simple catch for Katie Levick.

This is an interesting position in the game. It is a good wicket although the scoreboard probably doesn't show that.

Harris is showing how nice the wicket is and how you can use the pace of the ball to score runs.

  8. Spirit 71-4published at 55 balls

Banged in short by Shabnim Ismail and Grace Harris pulls it dismissively through square leg for four.

Charli Knott adds four more to end the set. It's streaky - an outside edge that goes wide of the wicketkeeper.

Decent recovery from Spirit, you'd expect nothing less from the defending champions, but still plenty of work to be done.

Jess Jonassen tried to use the pitch and bowl into it but Harris was quick to give herself room and get away from the ball.

    Class batting.

  10. Spirit 61-4published at 50 balls

Thumped through point by Grace Harris.

She is quick on her feet, going back and opening up the off side as Jess Jonassen drives the ball into the pitch.

Eight from those five balls in total to take us to the halfway point of the innings.

Brilliant bowling from Rashid Khan. Saw Mark Chapman coming down the wicket and held it back just a touch. Chapman went for a big hit but could only sky it for extra cover.

  12. wicket

    Jack Skelton

Need a wicket? Turn to Rashid Khan.

The all-time T20 wicket-taker adds another to his tally, luring New Zealand's Mark Champan into a leading edge that flies straight up and into the waiting hands of Donovan Ferreira.

Brilliant shot from Grace Harris. That is exactly where you want to hit the ball at Cardiff.

A bit of flight and it's just a chip needed these days.

  14. 6 runs

    Spirit 53-4published at 45 balls

First six of the day in Cardiff - and no surprise that it comes from Grace Harris!

Tossed up by Katie Levick and Harris hammers it back over the spinner's head.

Short straight boundaries at Sophia Gardens but that was six on most grounds.

  15. How's stat?!published at 15:01 British Summer Time 9 August

    Kieran Parmley
    Cricviz analyst

Katie Levick is exceptional when she targets the stumps in the Hundred, taking 10 wickets at an average of just 11.9 with balls hitting the stumps while going at just over a run-a-ball.

  16. Spirit 42-4published at 40 balls

Tammy Beaumont is indeed going for the jugular by introducing Shabnim Ismail.

No more wickets for the Fire this time but just two runs from it as they keep the pressure on London Spirit.

  17. Postpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 9 August

    Sir Alastair Cook
    Ex-England captain on BBC iPlayer

A lot is resting on Grace Harris now as Spirit have lost some solid top-order batters.

This is good captaining from Beaumont bringing Shabnim Ismail in. You are a step closer to victory with her in play.

  18. Originals 66-2published at Invincibles v Originals

    40 balls

    Jack Skelton
    BBC Sport

Despite those two wickets for Jason Behrendorff, Manchester Originals are going well at The Kia Oval.

Phil Salt has marmalised three sixes and Mark Chapman have just hit one of his own.

The visitors are 66-2 off 40 balls.

  19. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 9 August

    Sir Alastair Cook
    Ex-England captain on BBC iPlayer

That went straight through Sophia Dunkley. She will not want to see that fielding again and likewise, Katie Levick will not want to see that ball again.

  20. Spirit 40-4published at 35 balls

No hat-trick for Katie Levick - and she'll really want that hat-trick ball back.

A slow, loopy full toss that Charli Knott thumps away to deep backward square. It should just be a single but Sophia Dunkley inexplicably lets the ball through her legs for four.

Not a ball that those involved will want to dwell on for too long.

Brilliant start for Levick, though. Two wickets to put Fire well on top.
