We see this a lot from Phil Salt. His hand-eye coordination is so good that sometimes he just doesn't move his feet enough. He just dragged that shot on to his stumps.

Matthew Potts coming into the attack and making an early impact. That's a big moment, everyone knows how destructive Phil Salt can be.

Matthew Potts with his first ball...

He beats England team-mate Phil Salt for pace and roars with delight. It's all Durham at Old Trafford.

That is an unbelievable strike from Ben McKinney!

I would love to know the distance of that one because he picked up the length so early. He got inside the line of the ball as well, which is the first thing you want to do against short-pitch bowling.

  5. Originals 20-0published at 10 balls

Ben McKinney used to play football for Sunderland, of course. In another world he could have been playing central midfield with Granit Xhaka yesterday.

Have a read of his backstory here.

  6. Redmayne falls early for Spiritpublished at 3 balls

Women's competition: London Spirit 3-1 against Birmingham Phoenix

London Spirit opener Georgia Redmayne has fallen early at Edgbaston, caught behind by Amy Jones off the bowling of Megan Schutt off the third ball of the day.

It was initially turned down by the umpire, but Phoenix was convinced and the review showed a strike off the bottom of the bat.

  7. 6 runs

    Originals 20-0published at 9 balls

Hoiked for six by Ben McKinney! That's gone into the top tier.

Manchester Originals have brought in an extra batter today. Matthew Hurts has effectively replaced Tom Hartley because Rachin Ravindra will also offer them a bit of slow left arm. I think that strengthens their batting line-up, which I think you need to do here at Old Trafford.

You have to be quite smart here. You have to run well and try to target the pockets. The key will be keeping the scoreboard ticking over because dot balls can put pressure on.

  9. Originals 14-0published at 7 balls

    Here's Ben McKinney first boundary.

He guides Jacob Duffy like Regis le Bris guided the Black Cats back to the Premier League.

  10. Originals 9-0published at 5 balls

    Salt 9, McKinney 0

Ben McKinney gets an inside edge onto pad to his first ball. Manchester Originals had a day off yesterday. I wonder whether McKinney travelled back to the north east to watch his beloved Sunderland's glorious start to the Premier League season.

  11. Originals 8-0published at 3 balls

    Four more!

I'm not sure about this plan from Harry Brook.

  12. Originals 4-0published at 2 balls

First ball, have a look. Second ball, why are you letting this part-timer bowl to me?

    Dismissive from Phil Salt.

  13. Originals 0-0published at 14:30 British Summer Time 17 August

Dan Lawrence to Phil Salt to start.

Salt, Buttler, Klaasen and Ravindra are four handy names in the top five.

Originals have batted first at home 12 times – the most by any team at home in the men's Hundred – and have lost six of those, joint most with Welsh Fire at Cardiff.

Sonny Baker features again today, having had an impressive start to the tournament and received his first England call-up on Friday.

I spoke to him yesterday about his journey to this point, his future and how he's found sharing a dressing room with Jimmy Anderson and others.

He's a really interesting character who loves bowling fast. I was taken aback when he told me he eats bone broth in an attempt to keep the stress fractures away. Have a read below.

    Table

Superchargers were knocked off the top of the table by Oval Invincibles blitz last night. They can reclaim top spot by winning today.

Originals are sixth, already eight points (two wins) off the top three. Phil Salt, Jos Buttler and co really could do with a win today.

Meanwhile, over at Edgbaston, London Spirit captain Charlie Dean has won the toss and chosen her side to bat first against Ellyse Perry-led Birmingham Phoenix in the women's game.

Spirit will be chasing their fourth win from five games today to go level on points with leaders Southern Brave, who are four points clear.

Phoenix, meanwhile, are currently second from bottom with their only win from four games coming against Trent Rockets in their opener last week.

Birmingham Phoenix: Georgia Voll, Emma Lamb, Ellyse Perry (captain), Amy Jones (wicketkeeper), Marie Kelly, Ailsa Lister, Em Arlott, Mary Taylor, Megan Schutt, Hannah Baker, Phoebe Brett.

London Spirit: Georgia Redmayne (wicketkeeper), Kira Chathli, Cordelia Griffith, Grace Harris, Danielle Gibson, Charli Knott, Issy Wong, Charlie Dean (captain), Sarah Glenn, Eva Gray, Bex Tyson.

We will be bringing you the major updates from this game as it happens, but if you want to catch ball-by-ball updates from it, do tune in to our live audio commentary from BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra here.

New Zealand international Rachin Ravindra is in for his Hundred debut today - a big boost for Manchester Originals.

In theory they have also strengthened their batting with Lancashire wicketkeeper Matty Hurst coming in too. Tom Hartley and Mark Chapman drop out.

    The Superchargers are unchanged.
