The Aussies have been told to play with freedom given they would be extremely lucky to be out ‘caught’ by this England team!

What a wonderful strike that is from Annabel Sutherland.

Glorious shot, as good as it gets, beautifully timed, great balance.

  4. Aus 257-3published at 81 overs

    Lead by 87

New ball taken but the runs keep flowing. They're coming more quickly if anything.

Just the 12 from Lauren Bell's over with Annabel Sutherland plays a gorgeous straight drive that races to the rope.

Beth Mooney doesn't want to be left out and drills a brilliant cover drive to the fence a couple of balls later.

  5. new ball

New ball takenpublished at 07:44 Greenwich Mean Time

No hesitation from England. They take the second new ball at the first possible opportunity.

I think England would've dreamed of a few centuries here at the MCG, probably not with the ball in hand.

  7. Aus 245-3published at 80 overs

    Mooney 29, Sutherland 116

Good chase from Maia Bouchier to save a run as Beth Mooney tucks the ball off her hip and down towards the fine leg boundary.

Sophie Ecclestone has now brought up her century, she's got 1-102 from her 30 overs.

Australia's lead is up to 75 and the second new ball is now available.

This is where Australia can really put the sword to England. It's difficult to tell where England are trying to get a wicket.

  9. Aus 241-3published at 79 overs

    Lead by 71

England will have a decision to make at the end of the next over.

Do they take the second new ball or not?

They need wickets and the extra pace and bounce it might bring them would help in that regard, it may also help Australia up the run-rate with the ball going more quickly to the boundary...

Unfortunately it's not getting any better for the England U19s team, who are in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup against India. They've collapsed from 81-2 to 92-8. You can follow that one with radio commentary here.

Sophie Ecclestone has bowled well but surely she's feeling the time now. There's another session left yet.

  12. Aus 238-3published at 78 overs

    Lead by 68

Sophie Ecclestone tempts Annabel Sutherland with a pair of deliveries tossed up wide of off.

Sutherland goes after them both but plays and misses on each occasion. Still no edge though.

Grace Harris spoke about embarrassing England. Generously, England are doing a decent job of that themselves. Six dropped catches, some of them dreadful.

  14. Aus 236-3published at 77 overs

    Lead by 66

The good fielding doesn't last too long as the mid-wicket fielders dives over the ball at the start of the Ryana Macdonald-Gay over.

Just three from it in total but England have done themselves no favours in the field today.

The damage may already have been done but they'll want to at least try and put it right, starting in this last half hour before the dinner break.

With Annabel Sutherland pushing the scorecard ahead, Sophie Ecclestone toils hard at the other end finishing the 1,402nd over of her international career.

Since Ecclestone made her debut in July 2016 v Pakistan at Bristol, no bowler has bowled as many overs as the left-arm spinner in women's internationals.

Most balls bowled in women's internationals (Since Ecclestone's debut)

    • Sophie Ecclestone - 8,412
    • Deepti Sharma - 8,148
    • Ash Gardner - 5,723

    • Melie Kerr - 5,692

That was a superb fielding effort. That's what they're capable of.

Good fielding by England. Yes, you read that correctly.

Too short from Sophie Ecclestone, allowing Beth Mooney to go back and pull but Maia Bouchier dives to her left at square leg to make an excellent stop.

Ecclestone then bowls a ripper than beats Annabel Sutherland on the outside edge. The England spinner can't believe that didn't find the edge.

There's going to be no love lost. As much as you've got to feel for England, Australia are going to put their foot down.

Heather Knight is stood with her hands on her hips, shaking her head, after another misfield.

This one in the covers by Lauren Filer turns a single into a three. Add that to the four byes early in the over and it is an expensive one.

To say England look frazzled out there is a major understatement.
