    Tymal Mills
England pace bowler on BBC Two

Beautiful shot from Babar Azam, he's a prolific timer of the ball.

Babar and Rizwan are two prolific batters in terms of runs but there's always questions marks as to whether they score them quick enough.

  8. Pak 8-0published at 1 over

    Top shot from Babar Azam.

Angled in at the pads by Mark Wood and Babar times it beautifully through the leg-side for four.

Mohammad Rizwan eases the last ball for two and it's eight from the first over.

  9. Pak 1-0published at 0.3 overs

    Some start from Mark Wood!

His second ball is a brilliant 95mph delivery that swings away late to beat Mohammad Rizwan.

Pakistan do get away next ball, though, a little inside edge onto the pad from Rizwan earns him a single into the off-side.

  10. Pak 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Good ball to start from Mark Wood, bringing Mohammad Rizwan forward to defend a swinging delivery.

There is a tinge of green in the surface.

Right then, the players are ambling out towards the middle and it looks like Mark Wood is going to open the bowling.

The flags on top of the pavilion are being blown all over the place, windy but, crucially, dry for now at The Oval.

Big news today as the BBC has signed a new four-year audio deal with the International Cricket Council (ICC) to broadcast all major global tournaments.

It means the BBC will have ball-by-ball commentary on every tournament, starting with the Men's T20 World Cup from Sunday, where England are the defending champions.

    The four-year period covers a men's and women's 50-over World Cup, two Women's T20 World Cups - including the 2026 event in England - and another men's T20 tournament in 2026.

BBC will also broadcast commentaries from the returning men's Champions Trophy in 2025 and the new women's T20 event in 2027.

The deal also includes Under-19 World Cups.

With this game being live on BBC TV it feels like all of the great and good are in town.

There are at least four former England captains here, plus their greatest ever bowler and another T20 World Cup winner in Tymal Mills.

Add in Ramiz Raja, Pakistan's former captain, and you'd forgive me for feeling a little out of place.

  16. 'No excuses' over England's rain-hit warm-uppublished at 18:20 British Summer Time 30 May

Mark Wood says England will have "no excuses" at the T20 World Cup, despite their disrupted build-up.

England planned this month's four-match series against Pakistan as their warm-up to the tournament but the first and third matches were washed out without a ball being bowled.

Tonight's T20 at The Oval is their last before their World Cup opener against Scotland in Barbados on 4 June, but more rain is forecast.

"You want the games to practise stuff, but it’s a fine balance," Wood said.

"One or two of us might feel like we need a game or two to get going, but there will be no excuses.

"We’re a professional side, we’re the England cricket team, we’ve got everything we need.

"We should be able to adapt, and when we get out there that’s when the time to turn it on is."
