  1. Aus 42-0published at 4 overs

    Target 274

It goes from bad to worse for Afghanistan.

The fielder on the boundary wafts a hand at the ball and lets it through for four.

    Afghanistan need to regroup.

Big moment in the game. We will have to wait and see if Travis Head goes on to make a big score.

  3. 6 runs

    Aus 38-0published at 3.2 overs

    Oh dear, oh dear.

Travis Head is dropped on six. Next ball? He absolutely hammers Fazalhaq Farooqi for six.

The camera pans to Afghanistan head coach Jonathan Trott. He does not look impressed.

  4. dropped catch

Travis Head dropped on sixpublished at 3.1 overs

    Aus 32-0

Rashid Khan had put down Travis Head on six and he looks absolutely furious with himself.

It's a routine catch for Rashid at mid-on but he can't hold on.

You suspect that could come back to haunt Afghanistan.

That's Matt Short's onion bag, right there.

Back of the length where he can swat it away. It's a slow swing of the bat, great contact.

A good start from Australia. They're flying along. This is what Afghanistan couldn't afford.

  6. Aus 32-0published at 3 overs

    Target 274

Clearly Australia have plans this evening.

Two fours and a six from the bat of Matt Short.

  7. 6 runs

    Aus 28-0published at 2.4 overs

He certainly isn't holding back, Ryan. You're right there.

In the slot for Matt Short and pulled over deep midwicket for the first six of the chase.

These first 10 overs are going to be an adventure with Matt Short at the crease. He is not holding back.

  9. Aus 22-0published at 2.1 overs

Matt Short is hobbling around at the striker's end but you don't need to run if you're dealing in boundaries.

He swings at Azmatullah Omarzai and gets a big edge down to the rope at deep third.

When you cannot control the swinging ball, if you get it wrong Travis Head loves having a crack at anything short. Head is a dangerous player.

  11. Aus 18-0published at 2 overs

    Target 274

There's a sense of deja vu early in Australia's chase, with Fazalhaq Farooqi having similar struggles to Spencer Johnson when controlling the swing.

Four leg byes, three wides, and a four for Travis Head are included in a 14-run over.

Spare a thought for the umpires who have signalled so many wides that they're in danger of repetitive strain injuries.

He's not a traditional left hand bowler, Fazalhaq Farooqi.

His natural instinct is to bowl it into the left hander. Massive swing.

  13. Aus 8-0published at 1.2 overs

Too much movement and the ball races away for four leg byes. Fazalhaq Farooqi's overs are not going to be short on entertainment.

  14. Aus 4-0published at 1.1 overs

    HUGE APPEAL!

Fazalhaq Farooqi is absolutely convinced that he's trapped Travis Head lbw but umpire Alex Wharf is statue-esque.

We saw a lot of swing from Spencer Johnson's powerplay overs and Fazalhaq is doing exactly the same.

  15. Aus 4-0published at 1 over

    Target 274

Azmatullah Omarzai opens with four dot balls before losing his line slightly to offer Matt Short an early four. Australia's batter barely had to touch that to send it to the boundary.

Fazalhaq Farooqi will share the new ball.

    It is 50-50.

273 in a knockout game is not a bad effort. Especially with a team who backs their spinners as much as Afghanistan do.

  17. Postpublished at 13:06 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February

It's time for Australia's chase. Their target is 274.

Travis Head and Matt Short are out in the middle. It looks like Azmatullah Omarzai will open the bowling for Afghanistan.

Thumbs up for an Australian victory. Thumbs down for Afghanistan.

    It's an excellent point, Eddie.

After Sediqullah Atal (85 off 95) and Azmatullah Omarzai (67 off 63), extras were Afghanistan's third-highest scorer with 37, including an inexcusable 17 wides.

Only time will tell if they will come back to haunt Australia.

I wonder if Australia's extras will be the difference.
