Seems to be the run of things for Afghanistan today.

Just getting carried away, Rashid Khan. Still a lot of time left, if someone like him stays in, then they can do a lot of damage.

Very disappointing. These are the wickets that peg you back.

  2. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 45.3 overs

    Rashid c Maxwell b Dwarshius 19 (Afg 235-8)

That's the end of Rashid Khan's cameo.

He slashed the previous ball for four, but Ben Dwarshius gets his revenge as Rashid slices a top edge straight up in the air and Glenn Maxwell makes no mistake running in from long-on.

A hint of desperation from Rashid Khan. They needed that boundary and he has managed to chalk it past Josh Inglis.

The main thing that Afghanistan need to do is not get bowled out before the 50th over.

That would be criminal on this pitch.

  4. Afg 230-7published at 45 overs

A streak of luck for Rashid Khan, who charges at a slower ball from Nathan Ellis and gets an outside edge down to deep third.

Ellis just gives a wry smile in response.

This is good from Rashid Khan, he has played a gem and he's been busy. He's scampered ones into twos.

  6. Afg 223-7published at 44 overs

Canny bowling from Ben Dwarshius, who concedes just six from the over without a boundary.

But Rashid Khan is looking proactive, running well between the wickets, as Afghanistan seek a big finish.

  7. Afg 217-7published at 43 overs

Rashid Khan connects well with a sweep but is denied a boundary by a sprawling Matt Short at deep square.

Still, 12 from the over is a very good result for Afghanistan there.

It looks like Afghanistan have decided that Adam Zampa is the one they're going to go after.

Or maybe Azmatullah Omarzai can just do it, instead.

Adam Zampa's first ball is smoked for six.

If Australia can't complete this run chase then they're watching the England game tomorrow.

Australia would need England to win and for the net run-rate to go there way.

  11. Afg 205-7published at 42 overs

Rashid Khan has provided plenty of magic for Afghanistan during his career so far, and they need something special here.

Just four singles off Nathan Ellis' seventh over.

  12. Afg 201-7published at 41 overs

Steve Smith has managed his bowlers brilliantly in the middle overs.

Adam Zampa whizzes through another, and he still has three remaining.

    A big wicket.

That brings the hitters in a fraction too early for Afghanistan. Gulbadin Naib tried to heave that away to the leg-side and gets a top edge.

Josh Inglis as safe as houses, takes the catch.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 40 overs

    Gulbadin c Inglis b Ellis 4 (Afg 199-7)

But it doesn't cost very much!

Another short ball, another top edge, and Josh Inglis steadies himself underneath it to take a simple catch.

10 overs to go and Afghanistan are struggling.

Almost an absolute belter, the elbow hits the ground. It was a fantastic effort, but it goes down.

  16. dropped catch

Gulbadin dropped on threepublished at 39.3 overs

    Afg 197-6

Oh, Matt Short! That would've been spectacular.

Gulbadin Naib miscues a short ball from Nathan Ellis, which flies towards Short at mid-wicket, where he leaps full-stretch and gets one hand to it.

He has it, but the ball just pops out as he hits the ground. A big chance.

  17. Postpublished at 11:42 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February

He also contributed to the run out of Mohammad Nabi a few overs ago to leave Afghanistan wobbling at six down.

  18. Afg 197-6published at 39 overs

Well, there is a boundary, but it flies off Gulbadin Naib's helmet as he gets in a right tangle trying to play a Spencer Johnson short ball.

That completes Johnson's spell - he finishes with 2-49.

  19. Afg 190-6published at 38 overs

Just four from Nathan Ellis' over, but Afghanistan are desperately in need of some boundaries now.

Australia made chasing 351 look like a walk in the park against England so at the moment, they'll be full of confidence.

  20. Afg 186-6published at 37.1 overs

    Weird.

Josh Inglis is utterly convinced that Azmatullah Omarzai has nicked one behind, but it's the quickest review you'll ever see as you could fit a bus through the gap between bat and ball.
