  1. NZ 53-2published at 9 overs

Chad Soper becomes the sixth bowler of this Papua New Guinea innings and Devon Conway decides now's the time to crack on a bit.

He smears Soper wide of mid-off for four, then lofts a huge six over the same boundary to end the over.

  2. NZ 39-2published at 8 overs

Just a single from the first four balls of Semo Kamea's over, but it's then spoiled by a misfield at cover that lets Kane Williamson's drive through for four.

In fairness, that was going some.

Williamson and Conway are very good players off spin and will look to milk the spinners round here.

  4. NZ 34-2published at 7 overs

New Zealand's batters work Charles Amini's leg-breaks around for five singles, just chipping away their target.

    Geraint Jones

It's not the sort of wicket a batter can just do what they want on and Papua New Guinea's bowlers have taken advantage.

  6. NZ 29-2published at 6 overs

Good response from Nao, just a single from the remaining three balls of the over.

That's the end of the powerplay - Papua New Guinea were 16-2 at this stage, New Zealand would have expected to have been further ahead of that score.

  7. NZ 28-2published at 5.3 overs

    Wallop!

Conway crashes Alei Nao for six over long-on with a great sweeping arc of the bat, his bottom hand coming off the handle at the top of the swing.

  8. NZ 21-2published at 5 overs

Captain Kane Williamson is the next man in - he gets off the mark straight away a shot behind square.

Morea then sends down four dot balls to Conway - he's got figures of 2-2 from his two overs.

That went straight down the fielders throat from the bat and not the dismissal Rachin Ravindra would've liked.

  10. WICKETpublished at 4.1 overs

    Ravindra c Kamea b Morea 6 (NZ 20-2)

A second New Zealand wicket falls!

Rachin Ravindra tries to play the same booming shot over mid-wicket that Devon Conway played in the previous over, but got over the top of the ball and ended up scooping Morea's delivery to a waiting Semo Kamea, some way in from the boundary.

  11. NZ 20-1published at 4 overs

Couple of dots to end the over, this hasn't been a bad start from Papua New Guinea.

That is a classic Devon Conway shot. He got the right length and that's smart batting.

  13. NZ 18-1published at 3.2 overs

    That's more like it!

Conway skips down and lofts Alei Nao over mid-wicket for the first six of the innings.

  14. NZ 11-1published at 3 overs

Captain and opening batter, now Assad Vala brings himself onto bowl his offbreaks in the third over.

His third delivery beats Rachin Ravindra, bounces over the stumps and away for a bye.

The fast bowlers are creating pressure and have to put pressure back on New Zealand and hope the batters make a mistake.

  16. NZ 6-1published at 2 overs

Devon Conway gets off the mark with a rather fortunate four, his edge off Alei Nao running away and being dived over by the fielder at deep third.

This is a really good start by Papua New Guinea.

  18. NZ 1-1published at 1 over

Kabua Morea's dreams of repeating Lockie Ferguson's feat are spoiled by new batter Rachin Ravindra, whose ugly shot off the final delivery of the over sees the ball squirt square for a single.

That's out and it did look like it carried fairly easily. He's managed to under-edge it.

  20. WICKETpublished at 0.2 overs

    Allen c Doriga b Morea 0 (NZ 0-1)

    Allen goes second ball!

Bit of a drive and he inside edges the ball off the bottom of the bat - it's gathered greedily by Kiplin Doriga behind the stumps.

The only question was whether it carried - the umpires take a look and the ball nestles in Doriga's black gloves just above the ground.

Allen walks off before the decision is made on the big screen.
