Summary

  • Australia retain Women's Ashes at earliest opportunity - report

  • England's last seven wickets fall for just 45 runs

  • Dunkley's 59 off 30 balls gives England brief hope

  • Australia pile up 198-7

  • Mooney hits 75 off 51 after being dropped on 16

  • First of three T20s, Sydney

  1. Aus 148-4published at 15.2 overs

Time for Mooney to carry on upping her boundary count.

She pulls Lauren Bell's first ball past Ecclestone at short fine-leg for four, then lifts the following delivery over the ropes at backward square for back-to-back fours.

That's four successive boundaries for Australia.

  2. 6 runs

    Aus 140-4published at 15 overs

    McGrath accelerates!

She lashes Glenn past third for a rather ugly four, then lofts the England spinner over mid-wicket for an over-closing six.

    She's on 18 from six.

  3. Aus 129-4published at 14.3 overs

Well, after Bouchier seems OK to continue after some work with the physio - I thought that was the end of her evening.

McGrath manages to chip the next ball in the vague direction of Bouchier but the England opener decides against attempting a diving catch - I don't think she would have made it anyway.

Prior to that injury McGrath had swept Glenn for four through backward square.

This is not good news. Maia Bouchier lands on her shoulder badly.

It's never a good sign when your fielder doesn't move.

  5. Aus 128-4published at 14.2 overs

This looks painful for Maia Bouchier.

She goes to gather a McGrath drive down at long-on and hits the turf awkwardly, and she looks in significant discomfort.

    On comes the physio.

England are chipping away here. Annabel Sutherland likes to take the game on, she gives opportunities and just whipped into mid-wicket.

It was a good catch from Danni Wyatt-Hodge, she very rarely drops anything in the field.

  8. Aus 122-4published at 14 overs

Stand-in captain Tahlia McGrath gets off the mark straight away, knocking the ball to short fine leg for a single.

Dean finishes with figures of 1-38, with 17 of those runs coming from her first over.

  9. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.5 overs

    Sutherland c Wyatt b Dean 3 (Aus 121-4)

Dean gets in on the wickets!

Sutherland's innings lasts just four balls as she lofts the ball to Danni Wyatt-Hodge at deep mid-wicket.

The England fielder has to take a few steps in from the boundary and takes the catch comfortably.

It's minus eight Celsius here in Transylvania. Cricket not improving my mood either. Come on England - you can do this!

Amy Jones was so quick, great work from her. It was the change of field for Sophie Ecclestone, not having deep square leg.

Ellyse Perry comes down the wicket, tries to slog sweep the ball and gets herself in a tangle. Great bowling from Ecclestone.

Australia's record when Beth Mooney scores 50+ in T20 internationals:

    21 wins

    Two losses

Two ties (lost both Super Overs)

  13. Aus 113-3published at 13 overs

Annabel Sutherland is next up for Australia and she takes two from Ecclestone's final delivery with a knock into the covers.

  14. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.3 overs

Perry st Jones b Ecclestone 7 (Aus 114-3)

    Nothing behind the line!

Perry had advanced way down the pitch to attempt a big heave, but got nothing on the ball and Jones removed the bails.

The Australia batter did well to reach her foot back as far as she did - but not far enough, just tickling the line and not reaching her crease.

Now, has Amy Jones stumped Ellyse Perry off Sophie Ecclestone?

England's spinners have been expensive today. The spin unit of this side is usually so consistent, it often quietens teams down.

Sophie Ecclestone to Ellyse Perry is a good match up now and England want to try and get a short mid-wicket in.

Beth Mooney has scored 22 off 14 coming down the track so far today, hitting three boundaries and facing only three dots.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Beth Mooneypublished at 12 overs

    Aus 111-2

Back comes Sarah Glenn and she starts with a full toss - Mooney doesn't need asking twice and she smacks it down the ground for four.

The Australia opener then turns a single off her pads from the penultimate delivery of the over to bring up her fifty from 37 balls.

It's been a fine innings, featuring seven fours thus far.
