McKinney dropped on 19published at 11:41 BST 24 September

    Yorks v Durham 33-2

Ben McKinney gets a life as George Hill finds the edge but Dom Bess puts a sharp but gettable chance down at first slip.

  2. Postpublished at 11:40 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 39-1

Dillon Pennington replaces Brett Hutton in the attack and his fifth ball is driven beautifully through cover on the front foot by Rob Yates for four runs.

Certainly his best scoring stroke thus far today.

  3. 'Hampshire start well on important morning'published at 11:40 BST 24 September

    Hants v Surrey 39-3

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

We're getting everything in that slip cordon on an important morning for Hampshire.

They have a good record here against Surrey and they now have a bowling point.

  4. 50 runs

Maiden 50 for Josh Thomaspublished at 11:37 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 70-1

Josh Thomas runs Noah Thain to deep third for his ninth four to reach a 51-ball 50, which also included a six pulled over mid wicket.

This is his first half century in first class cricket.

  5. 50 runs

50 and out for Aneurin Donaldpublished at 11:35 BST 24 September

    Kent v Derbyshire 70-1

Derbyshire opener Aneurin Donald was looking for a good time, not a long time, with the bat this morning.

He raced to 55 from 63 balls before being bowled by Mikey Cohen as Kent make their first breakthrough.

  6. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:33 BST 24 September

    Burns c Sundar b Fuller 29 (Hants v Surrey 37-3)

A juggle at first slip but it goes in at the second attempt and the Surrey skipper is gone.

James Fuller angles it across Rory Burns and the opener half plays at it before trying to withdraw his bat at the last minute.

Too late as he gets the edge. Washington Sundar does not take it cleanly with the ball bouncing helpfully up at first attempt but he bags the second offer.

  7. Postpublished at 11:33 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 61-1

Short ball from Charlie Bennett and Josh Thomas pulls away for six runs! He's now on 47.

    Picked up the length superbly.

  8. Postpublished at 11:30 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwicks 29-1

Four runs to Will Young, clipping Brett Hutton away on the back foot through the leg side.

Both opening bowlers have bowled seven each and now Lyndon James is coming on at the other end in place of Mo Abbas.

  9. Division Two updatepublished at 11:30 BST 24 September

Glamorgan, already assured of promotion in the runner-up spot, have lost three wickets inside the opening hour of play against Lancashire in Cardiff.

Top three Zain ul Hassan (0), Asa Tribe (8) and skipper Sam Northeast (20) have all already departed the action. The dependable due of Kiran Carlson and Colin Ingram are at the crease now though to steady the ship with the hosts 52-3.

Middlesex are two down against Glos, with Ajeet Singh Dale claiming both wickets. The hosts are 67-2 with Luke Hollman (23*) and Leus du Plooy (15*) batting.

Kent, who will finish bottom of the pile whatever happens this week, are searching for a first wicket against Derbyshire who are 66-0.

  10. Postpublished at 11:29 BST 24 September

    Worcs 51-4 v Sussex

That has been quite a spell from Ollie Robinson who takes his jumper with figures of 6-0-27-4.

  11. Postpublished at 11:28 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 55-1

Josh Thomas seizes on a wide ball from Charlie Bennett, cutting square on the back foot for four - and that takes Somerset to 50 in the 13th over.

Four more driven away on the back foot and through the off side.

  12. 50 runs

50 up for Worcspublished at 11:24 BST 24 September

    Worcs 50-4 v Sussex

The hitting is not a bother for Worcs with Gareth Roderick driving beautifully but a little too straight as he knocks the non-striker's middle stump clean out of the ground.

They have 50 inside 11 overs.

But the wickets column is keeping pace unfortunately for the hosts with Ollie Robinson on the verge of a five-for inside the first hour.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:23 BST 24 September

    Budinger LBW b Broad 44 (Northants v Leics 70-1)

A much-needed Northants breakthrough after a brutal assault on the bowling by Sol Budinger.

Justin Broad gets the opener on the crease, playing around a straightening ball for a 31-ball 44.

Time for Leicestershire captain Ian Holland to have a bat.

  15. 'Lazy waft outside off'published at 11:21 BST 24 September

    Hants v Surrey 25-2

    Michael Carberry
Former England batter on BBC Radio Solent

It's not a good shot - a lazy waft outside off stump.

I always think you want the left-hander playing as much as possible when the ball is shaping, so I like bowlers staying over the wicket and using the angle.

    Well bowled Kyle Abbott.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:20 BST 24 September

    Patel c Currie b Abbott 0 (Hants v Surrey 25-2)

Good delivery angled across the left hander Ryan Patel, leaves him as it gathers pace off the wicket and it's grabbed low at second slip by Scott Currie.

  17. Postpublished at 11:20 BST 24 September

    Essex v Somerset 47-1

Left arm spinner Simon Harmer is bowling his first spell in the match and Josh Thomas steers the ball through cover off the back foot for four runs.

The fourth ball of the over is pushed to mid on for one.

  18. Postpublished at 11:17 BST 24 September

    Notts v Warwks 22-1

Rob Yates is struggling here as he is stuck on the crease, playing and missing Mo Abbas outside his off stump.

Abbas smiles ruefully, no doubt wondering what more he needs to do in order to find the edge of the bat.

Maiden over. Yates has 10 off 32 balls.

  19. 'Stone dead'published at 11:15 BST 24 September

    Hants v Surrey 19-1

    Michael Carberry
Former England batter on BBC Radio Solent

Dom Sibley gesturing that he might have got a scratch on it, but if he didn't, that was stone dead.

He didn't really get forward and that looked pretty adjacent.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 11:15 BST 24 September

    Jones lbw b Robinson 1 (Worcs 36-4 v Sussex)

Not much doubt about that but it is caught in the slips as well just in case.

Robinson is virtually unplayable this morning and Rob Jones becomes his fourth victim (giving him numbers of 4-19 at the fall of this wicket).

That has angled in low at his pads in front of middle stump. The batsman indicates to the umpire he has hit it even though it is grabbed at first slip but he has been given lbw.
