Rosemary Mair returns, and the pairing of Amy Jones and Heather Knight work her around for five singles.

They didn't cruise to their fifty partnership entirely without incident - here's how Heather Knight survived an lbw shout from Melie Kerr.

Amy Jones brings her half-century up with a six!

Having seen Heather Knight do it in the previous over, Jones decides she'll have a bit of of that action and clears the ropes at mid-wicket off Suzie Bates' last delivery.

Her 50 comes up off 71 deliveries, while the shot also sees this pair reach a half-century partnership off 51 balls.

    Hello there, Heather.

The former England skipper comes down the track and launches Melie Kerr's penultimate ball of the over high over long-on for six.

Knight then studiously defends Kerr's last delivery.

If another wicket falls it would be a good idea to let Danni Wyatt-Hodge have some practice at the crease.

Suzie Bates comes on to bowl for the first time today and Amy Jones greets her first delivery with a paddle shot that takes the ball to the fine leg boundary.

Two further singles from the over, with Jones now on 43 from 67 balls.

Good call, Amy Jones - she gestured the ball might be bouncing over the top of the stumps and so it proves.

It was a loopy, fairly straight delivery and evidently would have lifted enough off the pitch to clear the wicket.

Knight, who'd brought up England's hundred with a single two balls before the review, survives.

Heather Knight is having a conversation with Amy Jones but this feels like an optimistic review.

Heather Knight given out on the field!

She tries to sweep Melie Kerr's final delivery and is struck on the front pad, or possibly on the forearm.

Either way, up goes the umpire's finger - after consulting with Amy Jones, Knight decides she may as well have a look.

    Thanks Sam.

One single off Lea Tahuhu's fourth over - she's bowled well thus far, taking 1-9.

Regardless, England require just 2.29 runs an over for victory.

  15. Eng 96-1published at 18 overs

    Target 169

Short again to end the over, Amy Jones makes a good connection but has to settle for a single after finding the deep mid-wicket fielder.

With England seemingly cruising to victory, it is time for Mike Peter to come in and take all the glory...

Full and sliding down leg from Eden Carson and Heather Knight won't miss out.

Four more. A drag down this time and Knight again nails the ball past short fine leg.

Possibly, Chris, but I suppose it is about getting players used to their roles as well.

As much as time in the middle might be beneficial, if England want them coming later in the innings, any benefit is lessened if they're having to do a completely different job here.

Also, I think getting back to winning ways is probably the priority today.

Anyway, maiden over from Lea Tahuhu.

Would it have been an idea to give Dunkley or Wyatt-Hodge some time at the crease after that wicket?

  20. Eng 86-1published at 16 overs

    Target 169

Off-spinner Eden Carson is into the attack for New Zealand.

England take seven from it, including a single assisted by Heather Knight as she does very little to get out of Carson's way when Amy Jones punches the ball back down the ground.

Charlotte Edwards' side are now more than halfway to their target with just another 83 runs required.
