New Zealand would have taken umpire's call.

It's not even close. The ball struck Amy Jones' front pad a good three or four inches outside the line of off stump.

Not out and the White Ferns lose a review.

This looks like it will be umpire's call. The stump looks a long way away.

Melie Kerr into the attack and New Zealand think the leg-spinner has struck first ball.

Googly that hits Amy Jones on the front pad but given not out and, on first viewing, it looked to hit Jones outside the line.

    Optimistic review, I'd say.

Sophie Devine brings herself on. She wasn't able to make the impact she would have liked with the bat in her final ODI - will she do it with the ball?

It's a tidy start from the medium-pacer, an Amy Jones single driven out to deep cover is the only run from the over.

A costly overstep from Jess Kerr.

The no-ball, plus a free hit that Tammy Beaumont whips over straight mid-wicket for four.

And that's a freebie! Full, wide and clattered away backward of point.

Four more from the extra delivery, too - and that's the pick of them. Much too full, still a touch too wide and Beaumont smokes it through point.

    Big over for England.

As soon as your beat the infield here, it runs away for four. Any width as well will get smacked.

More swing for Jess Kerr but this one started far too wide.

It allows Tammy Beaumont to free her arms and smear the ball through the covers for four.

Jess Kerr has been terrific in the powerplay this World Cup, taking four wickets at an average of 19 in the first phase.

With a similar playbook to legendary Australian seam bowler Megan Schutt, she consistently swings the ball back into right handers and regularly finds prodigious movement.

She has found a massive 3.0° of swing on average in the powerplay this WC - more swing than any other seamer and 0.7° more on average than the second place bowler.

Full toss from Rosemary Mair but it surprises Tammy Beaumont and comes off the inside edge and sneaking just past short fine leg.

Not great running, though, as England only get a single when it should really have been two.

I can only assume Beaumont didn't know where the ball had gone initially and that's what cost her.

The over ends with a crunching drive from Amy Jones but no runs thanks to an excellent stop from Suzie Bates at cover.

Short, wide and Tammy Beaumont doesn't miss out on that one.

Cut away behind square with conviction for her first boundary today.

  11. Eng 16-0published at 4 overs

    Target 169

Play and miss from Tammy Beaumont as she goes back to try and cut a slightly wider delivery from Jess Kerr.

It wasn't quite there for the shot as the ball swung back towards off stump but no harm done.

Frustration for Beaumont to end the over as she drills a full toss into the off side but can't beat the cover fielder and has to settle for a single.

  12. Eng 13-0published at 3 overs

    Target 169

Very good over from Rosemary Mair, holding a tight line around off stump to Amy Jones.

The only time she gets a little too straight, the ball bounces off Jones' thigh pad and trickles into the on side allowing England a leg bye.

That should be the only run of the over but Tammy Beaumont gets a bonus single last ball after her solid defensive prod is misfielded at backward point.

Plenty of swing for Jess Kerr with the new ball, she's hooping it back into the right-handers.

Tammy Beaumont, in particular, needs to be careful with that given her status as prime lbw candidate early in her innings.

No issues for her in this over with England taking four singles from it, plus a leg-side wide.

Review survived, Amy Jones gets England going with a couple of shots through the covers.

The first is reeled in before it reaches the boundary but the second - a short, wide one from Rosemary Mair - is hammered to the fence.

Very close but umpire's call with the ball clipping leg stump.

It nipped back and caught Amy Jones on the crease but did slightly too much.

New Zealand keep the review, England still have all 10 wickets intact.

There seemed like two noises. England have had troubles with the in-swinging ball at the top of the order.

It could be a double pad noise?

Have New Zealand made the breakthrough before England have even got off the mark?

They think so as they call for a review as Rosemary Mair hits Amy Jones on the pad.

    Could be close...

    Thanks, Mike.

You've got to back England to be able to knock off these runs but they can't take anything for granted on a pitch that wasn't the easiest to bat on in the New Zealand innings.

It is only likely to get slower and tougher to bat on but 169 should still be well within England's capabilities.

New Zealand are gathered in a huddle on the boundary rope.

Their batting innings was disappointing but they seem fairly cheerful, likely because they're paying tribute to Sophie Devine.

She steps onto the outfield to applause from her team-mates - here's Sam Drury to take you through the first part of her final innings in ODI cricket.
