    Roderick lbw b Overton 6 (Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 16-1)

    Breakthrough at Taunton.

Worcestershire's mammoth task gets a little tougher as they lose Gareth Roderick early.

It's a beauty from Craig Overton as he pitches it middle and leg and gets it to nip away off the seam, hitting Roderick on the back pad. Absolute plummers.

Kashif Ali joins Jake Libby with it all to do.

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 148-4

Dan Lawrence comes in against his former side and with his first ball goes for a slog-sweep against Simon Harmer and the ball hammers into Charlie Allison at short-leg.

    He will need some treatment.

  5. Postpublished at 11:58 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 338-6 v Durham 378

Matthew Potts fizzes one past the outside edge of Matthew Montgomery's forward push.

Not sure how many more Durham skipper Alex Lees will give the England paceman.

Just the over before the Notts batter was induced into a play and miss by a lovely piece of bowling from Paul Coughlin who has replaced Ben Raine from the Stuart Broad End.

  6. Yorkshire lead reaches 100published at 11:56 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hants 249 v Yorks 121 & 228-6

Before this game, Ben Cliff had scored the grand total of one run in first-class cricket.

He managed two in Yorkshire's first innings but is looking good here and cover drives Brett Hampton for four to advance to 20 not out.

Liam Dawson continues from the other end and Adam Lyth strokes out to deep extra and takes one - the visitors lead by 100.

  7. Postpublished at 11:55 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 11-0

Jake Libby will be a relieved man as he shoulders arms to a Josh Davey delivery which jags in sharply and just misses top of off.

Gareth Roderick breaks a run of 11 successive dots with a scampered single as he pushes Craig Overton.

But it almost brings the demise of Jake Libby who has to sprint to make his ground just ahead of a direct hit from sub fielder Alfie Ogborne. There's danger everywhere.

    Two in two balls!

Simon Harmer gets one to just deviate off the straight and Rory Burns edges to Michael Pepper.

Two big wickets for Essex - the door might be opening.

Former Essex man Dan Lawrence is in.

Nice take by Pepper by the way.

    Off-stump out of the ground.

Jamie Smith drove Shane Snater's first ball to the boundary but the final delivery of the over has the England batter on the walk, driving, missing and the off-stump cartwheels towards the slips.

Rob Yates batting for WarwickshireImage source, Rex Features

Rob Yates is now out for 115, but he certainly enjoyed the second day at Edgbaston.

“I couldn’t have asked for a better personal start - I’m in a really nice position overnight and the game’s in a nice position overnight," he said, at the end of Saturday's play.

“It’s a really good cricket wicket. There is enough there to keep the bowlers interested but also enough there for the batters.

"We’re saying there is a game to be won here. No four-day games are won easily and crazy things can happen - but we have a big job to do first just to get level with them so we won’t be getting too far ahead of ourselves."

  11. Postpublished at 11:49 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 331-6 v Durham 378

Lyndon James guides Matthew Potts down to the third man boundary to get off the mark.

It brings the deficit down below 50 runs.

Notts are also closing in on a third batting point as they look to nudge ahead of their opponents on bonus points. It's honours even at five-all.

  12. wicket

    Du Plooy c Hurst b Bailey 0 (Middx 260 & 7-3 v Lancs 359)

    It's all happening at Lord's.

Tom Bailey starts a new over by having Sam Robson leg-before for three and two balls later sends Leus du Plooy on his way.

Middlesex trail by 92 - are they going to succumb in three days?

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 142-2

We are 45 minutes into play at Chelmsford and Simon Harmer is on to bowl for Essex.

He, like everyone else, found the pitch unresponsive yesterday - will there be anything in it for him today?

    Northeast b Holland 0 (Glamorgan 229 & 10-2 v Leics 427)

Ian Holland is on a hat-trick.

The medium-pacer has Zain Ul-Hassan lbw for seven with a perfect yorker and then cleans up Sam Northeast via the inside edge with his next delivery.

But there is no treble as Kiran Carlson survives.

  15. 'Sussex are keeping the door ajar'published at 11:45 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 255-5 v Sussex 528

    Clive Eakin
    BBC CWR Sport

Another sunny day at Edgbaston and although runs continue to be plentiful Warwickshire have looked under a bit of pressure during the first 40 minutes of the day.

Ollie Robinson has bowled a testing spell from the Birmingham End and produced an excellent delivery to end Rob Yates' innings of 115.

Robinson should have had Dan Mousley for a duck but Tom Alsop spilled the chance at slip.

The bowler’s luck changed when night watcher Ethan Bamber hit a full toss straight to mid-wicket.

Warwickshire remain a long way behind and while a draw is still the odds on favourite Sussex are keeping the door to victory ajar.

  16. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hants 249 v Yorks 121 & 218-6

This wicket looks like it is pretty flat now so it's no wonder Hampshire have turned to the left-arm spin of Liam Dawson.

Ben Cliff is doing a doughty job for Yorkshire, keeping Adam Lyth company as they look to stretch their lead to a defendable number.

He is 15 not out, Lyth has 67 and they are 90 in front.

  17. Worcestershire begin their second inningspublished at 11:44 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 5-0

Worcestershire begin their second knock, needing an imposing 516 runs to avoid an innings defeat.

Craig Overton bustles in to open the bowling.

His opening over goes for five, all to Gareth Roderick who gets up and running with a boundary. He top-scored first time around with 58 and put on 70 with Jake Libby.

They'll need a few more before we can start talking draw territory.

Josh Davey begins his work with a maiden to Roderick. Libby yet to face.

  18. 'Kent were excellent right through'published at 11:42 British Summer Time 6 April

Kent beat Northants by 145 runs

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio Kent

Kent will be really pleased at the start of a new new chapter under Adam Hollioake, they've been excellent right through.

It's been a fantastic game of cricket. Northamptonshire have played their part as well in what's been a really entertaining game.

  19. 'Kent have been the better side'published at 11:41 British Summer Time 6 April

Kent beat Northants by 145 runs

    Andrew Radd
    BBC Radio Northampton

Many congratulations to Kent, they've been the better side, particularly in terms of their top order, although it had its trials and tribulations.

There were just enough runs from Ben Compton and Zak Crawley in the second innings and Tawanda Muyeye and Jack Leaning in the first and that's been the difference really.

Both bowling attacks have had decent games but Keith Dudgeon has been absolutely superb and whoever was responsible for signing him can be patting themselves on the back this morning.

  20. Division Two updatepublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 6 April

Middlesex have lost an early wicket at the start of their second innings with Nathan Fernandes caught behind off Tom Bailey for three. They are 6-1 after bowling out Lancashire for 359 - 93 behind.

Derbyshire have their first wicket against Gloucestershire with Zak Chappell bowling James Bracey for nine. Ben Charlesworth is now 80 not out for the visitors, who are 29 behind on 140-4 in their second innings.

No joy yet for Leicestershire at Sophia Gardens, where Glamorgan are 10-0 after three overs - 188 in arrears.
