    Notts 368-6 v Durham 378

Ben Raine runs in for his 28th over and is turned through midwicket for four by Lyndon James.

It races away off the bat but slows up dramatically in the outfield and trickles to the rope.

Three balls later, the all-rounder punches off the back foot through the offside this time. Nice shot and it takes him to 34 off just 39 balls.

    Just 10 runs from parity.

  2. Postpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 30-1

It's a long, long way back, but Kashif Ali and Jake Libby are doing their bit and not giving this away.

Kasey Aldridge - the star of the first innings with a super five-wicket haul - comes into the attack as Craig Overton is given a breather after a wicket-taking opening spell.

Ali picks up a couple of runs off Aldridge's opening over.

In the next, Jake Libby survives a moment of alarm when a Jack Leach delivery keeps low. The opener jabs his bat down just in time.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    Bess b Abbott 0 (Hants 249 v Yorks 121 & 239-8)

Big wicket for Hampshire as Kyle Abbott pierces the defences of Dom Bess at the Utilita Bowl.

Adam Lyth - now joined by Ben Coad - is still there on 81, and Yorkshire's lead is a nelsonic 111.

  4. 300 runs

300 up for Warwickshirepublished at 12:29 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 301-5 v Sussex 528

Ed Barnard edges down to the third-man rope and brings up the home side's 300 and a 50 stand with Dan Mousley.

These two have done well to repair the early damage.

  5. Deficit nearly gone at Trent Bridgepublished at 12:28 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 364-6 v Durham 378

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

I said this morning that there are plenty of runs to be had here and Notts continue to make steady progress and have almost wiped out Durham's lead.

Matthew Montgomery was dropped in the slips last night on four and now has 38 from 98 deliveries. Lyndon James, who really enjoys batting against Durham, is on 30 from 36 balls.

Only one wicket has fallen today, that of night-watchman Farhan Ahmed, who was caught in the slips on 17.

At this rate Notts will be start to build a lead this afternoon.

  6. 100 runs

for Ben Charlesworthpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 6 April

    Derbys 391 v Gloucs 222 & 185-5

    Ben CharlesworthImage source, Rex Features

He's a very promising batter indeed and there is Ben Charlesworth's third first-class century, brought up off 174 balls with two runs tucked around the corner from the bowling of spinner Jack Morley.

Gloucestershire need him to keep this going, though, as they are only 16 runs in front.

  7. Holland makes most of new ballpublished at 12:23 British Summer Time 6 April

    Glamorgan 229 & 30-3 v Leics 427

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Seamer Ian Holland blew away the Glamorgan top order to give Leicestershire every hope of a three-day win in Cardiff.

A peach of a yorker accounted for Zain Ul-Hassan lbw, Sam Northeast inside-edged his first ball onto the stumps, and Eddie Byrom followed them back a few overs later as he drove a wide ball to gully.

With talk of the pitch flattening out in the sunshine, Holland has done well to make the most of the new ball.

Earlier, Andy Gorvin finally ended the Leicestershire tail-end frolics as he had Ben Cox lbw for 51 with the second ball of the morning, and although the injured Rishi Patel came out to try to see Chris Wright to a maiden century, his bravery was in vain as Wright was bowled for 74.

  8. 'Somerset are on course'published at 12:21 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 28-1

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

    Somerset are on course.

I did say in my prediction that if Worcestershire were three down by lunch I thought the game might be over today.

On a decent pitch there's no reason why Worcestershire shouldn't bat long but there are so many psychological factors.

There'll be a lot of pressure out there now and a little bit of chat I would imagine from slip and leg slip.

  9. Postpublished at 12:21 British Summer Time 6 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 167-5

Simon Harmer wheels through a maiden - 2-21 from 17 overs for the South African now.

That Shane Snater dismissal of Jamie Smith just opened the door for Essex and Harmer kicked it down.

Surrey need to get to lunch with no further damage.

  10. Division Two updatepublished at 12:14 British Summer Time 6 April

Gloucestershire are now in front at Derby - but only just and half of their batting line-up are back in the dressing room. Graeme van Buuren is the latest to go, caught off Martin Andersson for 19 and they are 176-5 in their second innings - just seven to the good.

Middlesex are trying to shake the shock of their poor second-innings start out of their system at Lord's. They are now 22-3, still 77 behind, with Tom Bailey having taken 3-16 from his first six overs.

Another wicket for Ian Holland at Sophia Gardens, having Eddie Byrom caught by Rehan Ahmed for two, following his earlier owl-like two in two. Glamorgan are 19-3 and need another 179 to avoid an innings defeat by Leicestershire.

  11. Third batting point for Nottinghamshirepublished at 102.4 overs

    Notts 353-6 v Durham 378

Lyndon James picks up a boundary in successive overs off Paul Coughlin to go to 17 at a little more than a run a ball.

In the next over Matt Montgomery deflects Ben Raine's fourth ball into the legside and eases through for a single which brings up the 350.

James opens the face and guides the ball down to third man and picks up three with some good running.

Still a nice pitch to bat on it would seem.

  12. Postpublished at 12:13 British Summer Time 6 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 160-5

The pressure is ramping-up at Chelmsford.

There is a huge appeal for LBW against Ryan Patel but this time Simon Harmer does not get his man.

The Surrey run rate has subsided to barely 2.5 per over - it's about survival now.

Lots of chatter among the Essex fielders.

  13. Postpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 6 April

    Warks 278-5 v Sussex 528

The home side seem to have settled things down after losing three wickets this morning.

Remember, Dan Mousley was dropped on nought and is now 22 not out.

  14. Postpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 6 April

    Hants 249 v Yorks 121 & 230-7

It is perhaps surprisiging, given he already has four wickets in this innings, that Hampshire have waited until now to give Brad Wheal a go with the ball.

The Scotland seamer has an lbw shout against Adam Lyth but the umpire isn't in a giving mood.

Just a leg-bye from it. The lead is 102.

  15. Postpublished at 12:09 British Summer Time 6 April

    Somerset 670-7 dec v Worcs 154 & 20-1

Jack Leach into the attack in just the eighth over at Taunton.

Not so surprising on a wicket which seemed to be taking a fair bit of turn in the later stages of day two.

Jake Libby is watchful for the first four balls but then dances down the pitch and lofts a shot back over the England spinner's head for four.

The deficit is down under 500.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:08 British Summer Time 6 April

    Lawrence c Cox b Harmer 3 (Essex 582-6d v Surrey 156-4)

Simon Harmer celebrates the wicket of Dan LawrenceImage source, Rex Features

    The champions are weakening.

Simon Harmer finds the edge of Dan Lawrence's bat and Jordan Cox takes a really smart catch at bootlace level.

What is going on at Chelmsford?

  17. Postpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 6 April

    Notts 343-6 v Durham 378

Lyndon James spanks the ball into the short off-side boundary with a lovely late cut off Paul Coughlin to move him into double figures.

Seven away from a third batting point.

  18. Postpublished at 12:06 British Summer Time 6 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 154-4

In Dan Lawrence and Ben Foakes we have got two Essex products at the wicket for Surrey.

The visitors are 428 runs behind.

  19. 'Essex tails are up now'published at 12:05 British Summer Time 6 April

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 150-4

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

This is going to be tough now for Surrey. Not a huge amount has changed but it's been very good bowling from Essex this morning.

I looked at this fixture at the start of the season and I did think how do the Surrey batters do against the Essex bowling attack?

    Their tails are up now.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 12:04 British Summer Time 6 April

    Cliff c Prest b Abbott 20 (Hants 249 v Yorks 121 & 229-7)

    Did that carry?

Ben Cliff is reluctant to go but the umpires confirm that it was a clean catch by Tom Prest, diving forward at second slip.

A good effort by Cliff, though, who helped Adam Lyth add 42 for Yorkshire's seventh wicket.

Dom Bess is the new batter.
