  1. LANCASHIRE DRAW WITH NOTTSpublished at 16:53 British Summer Time 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 270-4

    They've shaken hands.

Joe Clarke finishes unbeaten on 115, Lyndon James on 47.

James Anderson heads off, possibly for the final time in a Lancashire shirt, after a game which will live long in the memory for his fine 7-35 before lunch on day three - including a spell of 6-19 in 10 overs with wickets in six consecutive overs.

There is some rain off the coast and with six wickets still needed and Notts 43 ahead with 20 overs remaining, Keaton Jennings has offered the hand.

The two sides are rubbing shoulders just outside the relegation zone and have seen Worcestershire close the gap, but they will come back at the end of August trying to ensure their survival for another year.

  2. SURREY BEAT ESSEX BY 145 RUNSpublished at 16:50 British Summer Time 3 July

    Surrey 262 & 278 v Essex 180 & 215-9

Jordan Clark traps Shane Snater lbw with the first ball of the new over after Harmer's departure with the last ball of the previous over and that's it - Surrey win this top-of-the-table clash!

After Essex battled away well for long periods it all comes to an end in the blink of an eye.

No Jordan Cox for Essex of course, so nine wickets wraps up the game.

The win sees Surrey stretch their lead at the top of the table over second-placed Essex.

  3. wicket

WICKET Harmer c Foakes b Worrall 7published at 16:48 British Summer Time 3 July

    Surrey 262 & 278 v Essex 180 & 215-8

Cracking ball from Dan Worrall and it's too good for Simon Harmer.

    One to go...

  4. Spin at both endspublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 3 July

    Gloucestershire v Glamorgan 486-6 - Target 593

It appears that the umpires have taken a light reading and are asking Gloucestershire captain Graeme van Buuren to bowl spin from both ends if they want to stay on.

So the skipper is going to bowl in tandem with Ollie Price.

  5. wicket

WICKET Banton c Yates b Barnard 81published at 16:46 British Summer Time 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 282-4 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

Ooh what's this, a Taunton twist?

Tom Banton hits it straight to mid-wicket to end his fine innings for 81.

Ed Barnard's celebration shows you how important that breakthrough is for the visitors.

  6. Postpublished at 16:46 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 11-0 - target 179 v Kent

Good shout for lbw against Toby Albert from Grant Stewart and his teammates.

The Hampshire batters sneak a leg bye but not sure that was drifting down leg nearly as much as the umpire might have thought it was.

Either way he remains. The first three overs have cost 11 runs, meaning the required rate has ticked above six.

  7. Postpublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 3 July

    Gloucestershire v Glamorgan 485-6 - Target 593

Timm van der Gugten hits back-to-boundaries off Matt Taylor to add eight valuable runs and get his innings moving.

It also pushes the run-rate back under four.

Now Sam Northeast takes on Zaman Akhter with the hook shots and gets another four.

    The Glamorgan skipper has 165.

  8. 100 runs

100 for Joe Clarkepublished at 16:40 British Summer Time 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 246-4

Glorious cut shot to the rope from Joe Clarke brings up his fourth ton of the season - his 24th in first class cricket - from Luke Wells' first ball.

    185 balls, 11 fours and a six.

He follows up with a straight drive for another boundary.

The pressure is off, by the looks of things.

  9. 100 runs

100 stand for Nottspublished at 16:38 British Summer Time 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 242-4

Do I spy Nathan Lyon swapping the bails at Southport? Cheeky grin on his face.

He'll do anything to try to break this stand between Joe Clarke and Lyndon James which has now reached 108 after three boundaries in the span of six balls.

The lead is up to 15.

Luke Wells takes over the bowling at the other end. No sign of James Anderson. I wonder if we will...

  10. Hampshire begin their chasepublished at 16:33 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 0-0 - target 179 v Kent

Fletcha Middleton and Toby Albert walk out to begin the chase... 179 needed in 31 overs. That's 5.77 an over, maths fans!

Grant Stewart will open the bowling.

All three results still possible, in theory at least.

  11. Postpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 3 July

    Glamorgan 467-6 - Target 593

Timm van der Gugten is living a charmed life out there.

Matt Taylor is causing him all sorts of problems, but crucially he can't remove the Aussie-Dutchman.

Van der Gugten has five off 25 balls and things are getting tense.

For the first time in a long time, the required run-rate has crept above the current run-rate as Gloucestershire have turned the screw a bit since tea.

  12. Notts take the leadpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 228-4

Joe Clarke and Lyndon James finish the latest Will Williams over with a couple of easy singles and Nottinghamshire have taken the lead in the match.

Nathan Lyon will return for another spell, maybe his last for the Red Rose this season, seeking not only to find six quick wickets, but also get the Lancs over-rate up as they are lagging at present.

26 overs and change remain, that would become 24 if Lancs did somehow bowl their visitors out.

Not sure we go the distance without hands being shaken unless something spectacular happens very soon.

  13. 200 up from Essexpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 3 July

    Surrey 262 & 278 v Essex 180 & 202-7

Essex are up against it but are still hanging in there as they pass 200 in their second innings.

Simon Harmer and Shane Snater are not trying to score many runs now so it's a case of if Surrey can take the wickets they require.

They have plenty of time to get them so there'll be absolutely no panic yet.

  14. 250 up for Somersetpublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 259-3 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

Tom Abell (81*) and Tom Banton (71*) are still going strong for Somerset who have moved within 151 runs of the required target with a minimum 28 overs remaining.

The Bears have not been able to find a way to remove these two.

  15. Postpublished at 16:19 British Summer Time 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 211-4

Joe Clarke and Lyndon James started slowly but have now added 77 from 30 overs together at Southport. Clarke has 75 himself with James on 30. Making up for lost time.

The deficit is down to 16. No sign of you know who since the resumption.

    28 overs to come.

  16. wicket

WICKET Walter b Lawes 56published at 16:18 British Summer Time 3 July

    Surrey 262 & 278 v Essex 180 & 194-7

Tom Lawes is the man making the difference for Surrey and now he has a fourth wicket.

Paul Walter has looked so unruffled by everything Surrey have thrown at him and batted very well but a Lawes delivery stays low and seems to surprise the batter who ends up playing onto his own stumps.

It looks a bit of an ugly dismissal after such a fine knock and Essex are up against it now.

They are effectively eight down as Jordan Cox is unable to bat so just a couple more needed for Surrey now.

  17. wicket

WICKET Finch c Vince b Abbott 84published at 16:15 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 340

Drama. Five balls before tea Harry Finch skies one off Kyle Abbott and James Vince scrambles behind the stumps and the keeper to pouch it at the second attempt.

    The relief is palpable.

The lead is 178. Hampshire will need to chase 179 in 31 overs after tea. And you can bet they will have a crack.

Abbott ends with 5-89 and has put the team on his back when they needed it most.

  18. Postpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 340-9

Lovely square drive from Harry Finch off James Fuller beats extra cover and races away to the rope to take him into the 80s.

Some loose deliveries creeping in. Hampshire have been in the field for just under 220 overs. Some weary bodies out there. They will hope it's worth it.

Kent lead by 178. One more over until tea. If they get there then there would be fewer than 30 overs left for Hampshire to chase their target.

  19. 'Crunch time for Hampshire'published at 16:10 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 339-9

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

The name of the game here is surviving for as long as possible and it really is starting to get to crunch time now for Hampshire.

Kent might not score too many more now. It's all about the number of balls they survive.

With Harry Finch marshalling the strike and the field set deep for him - unless he finds a gap, maybe and edge or a full-bloodied drive he's going to struggle to find gaps.

  20. 150 runs

150 for Sam Northeastpublished at 16:06 British Summer Time 3 July

    Glamorgan 456-6 - Target 593

Sam Northeast steers one out into the offside and runs through for the single to bring up his 150 off 225 balls.

Northeast is not afraid of going big. He hit 410 against Leicestershire in 2022 and of course, hit the highest-ever first-class score at Lord's against Middlesex in April, his brilliant 335 not out.

An omen for Glamorgan fans - I live texted both of those innings!
