  1. Postpublished at 17:26 3 July

    Gloucestershire v Glamorgan 527-7 - Target 593

There is no pressure on Glamorgan captain Sam Northeast in terms of run-rate.

That means he can carry on batting as he has done all innings, pushing into the offside for a couple and flicking into the legside for one.

He has 178 off 268 balls.

    Glamorgan need ONLY 66.

  2. Postpublished at 17:25 3 July

    Hampshire 89-1 - target 179 v Kent

Four singles off Matt Parkinson's first four balls before Fletcha Middleton picks a flighted delivery and cracks it to the deep extra cover boundary past the despairing dive of Charlie Stobo.

Nine off the over in the end. They need 4.7 an over from here.

  3. 'Not losing early wickets was key for Hants'published at 17:23 3 July

    Hampshire 80-1 - target 179 v Kent

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

Hampshire not losing early wickets was key.

It was a good start, it wasn't exciting but it was just the sort of start Hampshire needed as a platform to what we're seeing now.

  4. Postpublished at 17:21 3 July

    Hampshire 80-1 - target 179 v Kent

Nathan Gilchrist is brought on to replace Grant Stewart.

    Ten off the over.

The target is under 100 runs away now.

Matt Parkinson coming on at the other end.

    Now or never.

  5. Highest county fourth innings scorepublished at 17:19 3 July

    Gloucestershire v Glamorgan 519-7 - Target 593

Glamorgan are already into record territory. This is already the highest ever fourth innings score in the history of the County Championship.

They need 74 to win with three wickets left.

Who are the favourites? Thumbs up for Gloucestershire, thumbs down for Glamorgan.

  6. Postpublished at 17:18 3 July

    Hampshire 70-1 - target 179 v Kent

Fletcha Middleton slaps Charlie Stobo back past the stumps at the non-striker's end for a boundary and two balls later James Vince picks Stobo up off a length and sends the ball to the rope at deep midwicket via a couple of bounces.

The final ball is sent towards long-on by Middleton but Matt Parkinson's valiant attempt at a diving catch just inside the rope comes up agonisingly short. He watches as it cruelly rolls the final few feet to the rope. 15 off the over.

    Middleton has 31 from 25.

The required rate is down to 5.2 and the hosts are well above it at present.

There are clouds around and the lights are on but Kent are going to have to do it themselves.

  7. Six for James Rewpublished at 17:17 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 325-5 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

A four followed by a six for Somerset's James Rew!

That's the sort of scoring the hosts want.

An expensive over for the Bears' Jacob Bethell who now has figures of 0-73 from 18 overs.

  8. 'A really hard fought few days'published at 17:15 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 270-4

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

It's a draw in which Lancashire thanks to Jimmy Anderson had real opportunity to try and win with his memorable 10-over spell yesterday that produced that stunning response and Lancashire with a real possibility to force home a three-day win.

But enormous credit to Joe Clarke last night and today, he's batted really well. That's a really skilful knock.

I thought Keaton Jennings' century in the first innings was a really masterful innings but I think Clarke was equally impressive in the second innings for Nottinghamshire. A real top innings and it's helped Nottinghamshire earn a draw.

It's been a really hard fought few days.

  9. Postpublished at 17:15 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 311-5 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

The number of runs required for Somerset drops under 100.

There are 16 overs for them to knock those off.

Warwickshire need to grab some wickets.

It's very nicely poised to say the least - which way do you see this going?

  10. Six for James Vincepublished at 17:12 3 July

    Hampshire 54-1 - target 179 v Kent

The skipper gets down on one knee but the only thing he is proposing is to get this game finished quickly.

A mighty slog-sweep over deep midwicket sends the spectators at the back of the seated area scrambling.

11 off that over, and brings the 50 up.

  11. Dropped catchpublished at 17:11 3 July

    Gloucestershire v Glamorgan 513-7 - Target 593

Almost two wickets in the over for Ajeet Singh Dale!

He offers width to new man Mason Crane, who goes after it. It flies off the edge over head height and Beau Webster, a tall man himself, can't clutch it at a wide slip position.

That would have been a screamer of a catch.

  12. 100 for Tom Abellpublished at 17:08 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 308-5 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

A single is enough for Tom Abell to reach his century.

That's his second in as many games after the 111 he struck in last week's draw with Notts.

  13. WICKET van der Gugten b Singh Dale 31published at 17:05 3 July

    Gloucestershire v Glamorgan 509-7 - Target 593

We are in the 130th over of this fourth innings and Ajeet Singh Dale bends his back enough to get the edge off Timm van der Gugten's bat.

And boy is he pleased as he runs off to celebrate!

Van der Gugten put on 56 with Sam Northeast, but he leaves the Glamorgan skipper with 84 still needed.

  14. 'A monumental victory'published at 17:03 3 July

    Surrey (262 & 278) beat Essex (180 & 215) by 145 runs

    Dan Whiting
    BBC Radio London

That is a monumental victory in terms of the 2024 County Championship.

Essex have battled hard, they've gone all the way but just the relentless attack of Tom Lawes, Dan Worrall, Jordan Clark and James Taylor has just nagged away and Essex just couldn't quite cope with it.

I feel for Essex, they were unlucky. I think the loss of Jordan Cox on the first day was not only a blow to putting them down to 10 men, but it was also a big psychological blow as well.

  15. WICKET Albert c Finch b Stobo 18published at 17:02 3 July

    Hampshire 41-1 - target 179 v Kent

Now then. Toby Albert has a swish at a full ball from Charlie Stobo which sends an edge through for Harry Finch to take flopping to his right.

James Vince is the new man.

Careful what you wish for, Kent.

  16. Six for Toby Albertpublished at 17:01 3 July

    Hampshire 41-0 - target 179 v Kent

Toby Albert isn't just going to stand there and watch Fletcha Middleton hit sixes.

He goes full IPL and gets the ramp out to send Grant Stewart over his own head and over the ropes for six.

Seven of the 31 overs done.

  17. 300 up for Somersetpublished at 17:01 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 300-5 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

James Rew joins the action with Tom Abell two runs from his century.

Somerset require 110 from a minimum 19 overs.

  18. Six for Fletcha Middletonpublished at 16:59 3 July

    Hampshire 32-0 - target 179 v Kent

One big crack and that's six runs from Fletcha Middleton off Charlie Stobo's final ball of his third over.

He got all of that, walloping it over deep midwicket. Pretty effortless even if it's not out of the manual.

Just like that the required rate drops back to 5.9.

There were plenty of people wondering why James Vince hadn't opened with himself for a quick chase - well, that's why!

  19. 500 up for Glamorganpublished at 16:57 3 July

    Gloucestershire v Glamorgan 501-6 - Target 593

Sam Northeast cuts Ollie Price behind square on the offside and he and Timm van der Gugten run an impressive three.

The 500 is up, this is now Glamorgan's highest-ever fourth innings score.

Van der Gugten then late cuts one and that is four for him and it brings up the 50 partnership between him and Northeast.

  20. WICKET Pretorius c Barnard b Rhodes 14published at 16:56 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 299-5 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

Migael Pretorius hits Will Rhodes for consecutive fours before trying a big heave which he mistimes badly, leaving Ed Barnard with an easy catch - his third of the innings.

It's getting more and more interesting here as the clock and number of overs ticks down.
