Paul Walter has batted well since coming in. Leaving the balls he should and putting away the right ones.

He takes two from Jordan Clark to reach his half-century.

Simon Harmer is yet to get off the mark from 13 balls at the other end.

  2. Play resumes at Cheltenhampublished at 16:04 British Summer Time 3 July

    Glamorgan 453-6 - Target 593

Some good signs of turn from Ollie Price as he races through four dot balls to new batter Timm van der Gugten.

Glamorgan need 140 but it will be very tricky if the ball is turning sharply.

  3. Postpublished at 16:03 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 333-9

Harry Finch moves on to 79 from 127 6 balls with back-to-back fours off James Fuller, both banged in short and pulled away through square leg.

    Hampshire's frustration grows.

    The lead is 171.

  4. Play resumes at Southportpublished at 16:01 British Summer Time 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 191-4

Some people are on the pitch, they think the rain's over... it is now!

33 overs remain in the game and let's hope we get to see them.

George Balderson bowls the first over after the resumption.

  5. 'Hampshire still favourites but Kent are hanging around'published at 15:57 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 325-9

    Matt Cole

    Kent are hanging around.

It was a 44 partnership between Harry Finch and Matt Parkinson. It was important at the time and it could still be important in the context of the match.

They are looking for a miracle to draw this game but that partnership has just made it possible I suppose that they can do it.

    Hampshire are still favourites.

  6. wicket

WICKET Pepper c Sibley b Lawes 26published at 15:55 British Summer Time 3 July

    Surrey 262 & 278 v Essex 180 & 181-6

Tom Lawes strikes in the first over after tea!

A sixth Essex wicket is down and the Walter/Pepper partnership which had been going along so well before the interval is broken at 64.

A big blow for Essex so early into the final session.

  7. Postpublished at 15:51 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 319-9

Hampshire have elected to take the extra half-hour to try to claim this last wicket, thereby preserving an extra couple of overs with which to chase down the target, whatever that might be.

If Kent can hold on until the delayed tea then it would mean Hampshire lose two overs for a change of innings whenever they do finally take the final wicket.

    Clear as mud? Good.

The lead is 157 at present. Already a touch over four an over for Hampshire to chase.

  9. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 230-3 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

A good partnership between Toms Abell and Banton has moved Somerset's score along during the afternoon and they now need 180 runs to win.

The hosts were 144-3 when Tom Kohler-Cadmore was out with a needless shot but Abell and Banton have proved a tough nut to crack for Warwickshire.

  10. Tea at Cheltenhampublished at 15:45 British Summer Time 3 July

    Gloucestershire 179 & 610-5 dec v Glamorgan 197 & 453-6

With the dismissal of Dan Douthwaite, it is time for tea in Cheltenham.

Gloucestershire took a wicket at the start and end of that middle session, but Glamorgan controlled the middle of it.

Sam Northeast remains unbeaten on 147 and with him, his side's chances rest.

The rest of the batting line-up will have to conjure up the remaining 140 runs for an incredible world record win with 38.4 overs remaining.

  11. 50 runs

50 for Tom Bantonpublished at 15:42 British Summer Time 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 229-3 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

A single off Jacob Bethell means Tom Banton joins batting partner Tom Abell in securing a half-century.

    We're almost at tea.

  12. wicket

WICKET Douthwaite c van Buuren b O Price 39published at 15:41 British Summer Time 3 July

    Gloucestershire 179 & 610-5 dec v Glamorgan 197 & 453-6

Is that the curse of the text commentary team?!

It's the final over before tea but Dan Douthwaite is tempted by width from Ollie Price. The only problem is that the all-rounder drills it straight to Graeme van Buuren at extra cover.

Relief, joy, delight - a bit of all three for the Glos skipper as the players head off.

  13. wicket

WICKET Parkinson c Brown b Abbas 15published at 15:40 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 317-9

The Kent advantage has ticked past 150 but they are down to their final wicket.

Matt Parkinson's resistance is over after a 44-run stand with Harry Finch. He's not happy about it. Mo Abbas wheels away appealing for the faintest of edges through to Ben Brown and up goes the finger.

Nathan Gilchrist is the last man in.

Kent lead by 155. Fewer than 40 overs remain.

  14. 450 up for Glamorganpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time 3 July

    Gloucestershire 179 & 610-5 dec v Glamorgan 197 & 452-5

The team agreed this morning that we would only begin to talk about a possible world record fourth-innings chase until Glamorgan reached 450!

They now have arrived at that juncture and Sam Northeast and Dan Douthwaite have put on 104 for this sixth wicket.

So, the highest domestic run chase was 507 by Cambridge University against MCC in 1896.

But the highest fourth innings chase anywhere came in India as recently as 2010 as West Zone chased 536 to beat South Zone. India all-rounder Yusuf Pathan hit an unbeaten 210 to guide his team by three wickets.

  15. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 218-3 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

A good over for Somerset as we approach tea, with 12 runs coming from it.

Michael Booth took a bit of treatment as Tom Banton struck a six and Tom Abell a four and it could have been more but for some good Bears fielding.

Abell is on 70 and Banton 42 and Somerset need 191.

  16. 'Bears' best chance is to force risks'published at 15:34 British Summer Time 3 July

    Somerset 284 & 219-3 v Warwickshire 412 & 281-8 dec

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

I think Warwickshire's best chance is to frustrate the batters by keeping it tight and force them into taking risks.

  17. It's raining at Southportpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 3 July

    Lancashire 353-9d v Notts 126 & 191-4

Sadly despite crossed fingers and toes there is no imminent sign of a return at Southport as the covers remain on and there is rain in the air still.. the blotter is out there trying to keep on top of the standing water.

Will keep you updated if we hear more.

  18. Tea at The Ovalpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 3 July

    Surrey 262 & 278 v Essex 180 & 181-5

Tea is taken with Essex needing 180 runs.

Tom Lawes' two wickets in as many balls early in the afternoon session looked to have set Surrey up to close in on the win and it looked even more so when Dean Elgar was removed.

But since then Essex have fought back strongly and in Paul Walter (43*) and Michael Pepper (26*) they have a partnership which has scored runs quickly.

An interesting evening session awaits in about 20 minutes.

  19. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 3 July

    Gloucestershire 179 & 610-5 dec v Glamorgan 197 & 440-5

Beau Webster hits Dan Douthwaite on the pads and appeals.

Is there a hint of panic in that? Possibly, but it was a good shout. The result is not out though.

  20. Postpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 3 July

    Hampshire 505-8d v Kent 343 & 309-8

15 minutes to go until tea. Kent will be desperate for Harry Finch and Matt Parkinson to be unbeaten when they come in for their cuppa.

The lead is 147 which is would mean a chase of just a touch over three an over for Hampshire across more than 40 overs in reply.

Not quite a knife edge, but, more interesting than many suspected it would be, even an hour ago.
