Very proactive session from England who have looked to get bat on ball and keep the runs ticking. They have played a shot at 97% of balls faced this morning.

Thanks, Sam. A reboot was required.

Nadine de Klerk gets a short ball slightly off key and Amy Jones pulls it for four through mid-wicket.

A couple of balls later and Jones anticipates a delivery which skids low and whips for another boundary square of the wicket.

He's not missed too much in this over as England take a pair of singles from Sune Luus' over.

My highlight was England women v Pakistan at Edgbaston in May with my brother and sister-in-law. Thought the match would be over very quickly when England were 11-4 but we pulled it back for a win! The sunburn, despite plenty of suncream, was not so much of a highlight.

Curious with Ayanda Hlubi, who was in her whites doing various warming up exercises. South Africa's bowling attack is already shorn of Marizanne Kapp today.

Nadine de Klerk back into the attack but England have one eye on the luncheon interval so it's a fairly cautious approach.

Apparently Ayanda Hlubi has been ruled out of the rest of this match. So she is not about to come on after all.

Look out, Ayanda Hlubi is going to come on. This should be good. But it does beg the question, where has she been? What has she been up to? I hope they're not taking a risk with her.

Sune Luus for the first time today. Heather Knight and Amy Jones happy to knock her into the gaps for the time being.

The weather forecast for day four is scattered thundery showers. But, as always with cricket, you have to be mindful about playing your plan to a forecast that may not come to fruition.

  11. Eng 149-4published at 45 overs

Amy Jones is the new batter and seems content to defend to initially Nonkululeko Mlaba before she crisply punches the South Africa spinner through the on side for four.

England will not want to lose another wicket before lunch.

Sekhukhune deserves that wicket but it's a weak dismissal for Danni Wyatt-Hodge and she'll be really frustrated with herself.

Not a great delivery and she slashes at it. It's a fly slip or short third, a good position for Wyatt-Hodge, who plays with hard hands, and it picks out that perfectly-placed fielder.

In an eventful over, Tumi Sekhukhune gets the wicket of Danni Wyatt-Hodge. Albeit it's not the prettiest.

A bit of a filthy slash from the England batter to a wide one from Sekhukhune and the ball comes off the edge and flies into the hands of Anneke Bosch at short third.

    Smart catch by Bosch.

Great shot from Wyatt-Hodge. Just slightly back of a length with the ball angling in towards her but she picks it up and over mid-wicket.

Tumi Sekhukhune is exasperated, arms outstretched with a can't-believe-it grin on her face.

Danni Wyatt-Hodge slashes at wide one which goes for four.

Nothing fortuitous a ball later when Wyatt-Hodge uses her low centre of gravity to waspishly whip it for four.

  16. Eng 131-3published at 43 overs

Nonkululeko Mlaba continues to wheel away around the wicket to a rather stoic Heather Knight and Danni Wyatt-Hodge, content to work the spinner into the gaps.

My highlight of the cricket season was a weekend in Manchester for the T20 against Australia. The only white-ball game against them abandoned without a ball bowled...

Heather Knight has done well to keep that out. It's a back of a length delivery that probably would have hit not even a third of a way up the stumps.

    It's not easy out there.

Tumi Sekhukhune draws a play and miss from Heather Knight outside off stump. The England skipper does well to dig out one which skids low along the pitch later in the over.

A maiden from the South Africa seamer.

Heather Knight is leading by example - there was some talk about her not passing 50 for a while, but now she has.
