Noman Ali had no chance to react to that, another chance for Ben Duckett.

  2. dropped catch

Duckett dropped on 52published at 25.2 overs

Down! This is another tough chance as Ben Duckett whacks the ball back to the bowler.

Noman Ali gets a decent hand to it to his right but the ball does not stick.

Ben Duckett has batted really nicely here for England.

  4. Eng 94-3published at 25 overs

This battle between Sajid Khan and Ben Duckett is great value. There are more stares than Shane Warne in his pomp right now.

Warne had many things but he did not have Sajid's spectacular moustache.

  5. 50 runs

50 for Ben Duckettpublished at 07:38 British Summer Time

He keeps churning out the fifties...

Ben Duckett has batted really well once again in reaching his third fifty of the tour and 12th of his career.

  6. 6 runs

    Eng 87-3published at 23 overs

Ben Duckett's response to this mini-crisis is to bop Sajid Khan, Pakistan's off-spinner who already has two wickets to his name, back over his head for six.

Sajid gives him one of the great glares after beating an edge with one that turns a mile at the end of the over. Duckett just raises an eyebrow and gives a cheeky thumbs up.

Sajid Khan and Noman Ali have bowled every over so far. Sajid continues with 30 minutes to go until lunch...

    It's game on here.

  9. Eng 81-3published at 22 overs

Harry Brook is beaten by another that turns and then goes back to another that keeps low in a nervy start people would criticise Ollie Pope for. The difference on this occasion is he survives.

  10. Eng 80-3published at 21 overs

    Harry Brook, England need you.

It's not easy to bat - the ball is turning and the pitch is slow and low - but it feels like England are behind the game here.

    It's not a three-wickets-in-the-first-session kind of pitch.

Well I was raving about how cool Joe Root was for playing off his back foot but that one went straight past the bat.

Well bowled by Sajid Khan, he's found the right pace and length here.

After a strong start from England, Pakistan take a big wicket.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 21 overs

    Root lbw b Sajid 5 (Eng 80-3)

    Problems!

England are right in trouble now as Joe Root falls. He's missed a turning ball going back. It couldn't be more out. He's walking off before the finger goes up.

Problem with Ollie Pope going so early is that it can create a sense of panic - especially in an England team which, if we're being honest, still has a tendency to collapse. Time for a new number 3?

  15. Eng 77-2published at 20 overs

    Duckett 37, Root 4

Ben Duckett switches himself right around to heave at a reverse sweep while exposing all of his stumps. He gets three but every time I see him do that I wonder what Geoffrey Boycott is thinking.

I think Pakistan feel like they had to doctor the pitch to get results. It's not an ideal way to approach the Test.

  17. Eng 71-2published at 19 overs

    Duckett 34, Root 1

Here's Joe Root. Arriving at 70-2 is better than 20-2, I guess.

He's off the mark first ball with one of those sweeps.

A very good decision in the end, sweeping the ball on a low bounce wasn't good.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.5 overs

    Pope lbw b Sajid 3 (Eng 70-2)

Plumb! It's a bad review and bad news for England because, having won an importance toss, they have lost two wickets before lunch.

Ollie Pope was trying to sweep but missed. That was always going to leave him struggling.

It's the third time in a row Sajid has dismissed Pope. Let the questions of his place in the side commence...

It hasn't turned as much as the one earlier which missed leg stump. I think this is out.
