Re: the Pringles. I’ve often had comments for eating crips at like 9am at work. I don’t get why eating a greasy full English is fine in the morning but a handful of fried potatoes is wrong.

    Pete, Somerset

Prawn cocktail Pringles? That'll be the same sort of person who eats an egg and tuna sandwich in an open plan office.

Don’t disagree with the pringles but early morning is for the more passive flavours

The pitch might have just settled down a little, or maybe Sajid Khan is just holding his fingers back a little knowing he's going to have a lot of bowling to do today.

Zak Crawley is just trying to find different ways of scoring here, he's varying his shots.

  4. Eng 41-0published at 10 overs

    Crawley 21, Duckett 18

This is Zak Crawley's 50th Test.

That's the same number of Monty Panesar and Dennis Amiss, one more than John Snow and 50 more than Jon Snow.

  5. Eng 38-0published at 9 overs

Ben Duckett is starting to settle. He comes charging down the track to thwack Sajid Khan for four.

I bet he didn't have prawn cocktail Pringles at 6am.

Sajid Khan looks more of a threat here today.

My colleague has just opened a can of Pringles at 6:28am next to me. Thoughts? I think bold.

They're prawn cocktail as well. I think that makes it even worse at this hour.

500+ Paul @ 6:03? I take it you mean the total for both teams in both innings?

  9. Eng 29-0published at 7 overs

    Crawley 17, Duckett 10

Zak Crawley plays exactly the same shot as the previous over - so much so I have had a strange feeling of Deja vu - and gets another four.

He's started more confidently than Ben Duckett.

England are just trying to work out how they can put on the pressure on these two Pakistani spinners. After taking all wickets last Test they'll be full of confidence.

I wonder if we'll see any seam bowling today.

  12. Eng 22-0published at 6 overs

More yelps of "catch" come as Zak Crawley sweeps but this one has been nailed well clear of the fielder. One thing I can say is there should be no problem with the over-rate.

    Pakistan's spinners are flying through - a live-texter's nightmare.

Ben Duckett is a touch confused on how he's going to score runs here. He's tried to play two sweeps, one reverse and one conventional and got nothing from them. He's not sure how he's going to put the pressure on.

A total mis-hit from Ben Duckett, ugly shot and it's skied. Heart in mouth time there for the England dressing room.

  15. Eng 15-0published at 5 overs

    Crawley 5, Duckett 9

Four overs in - England have had their 'look'...

Having thrashed one four, Ben Duckett tries to hit the last ball of Sajid Khan's over into the empty stands but gets far more height than distance. The Pakistan fielders all frantically call for the catch but Noman cannot get back from his fielding position at mid-on.

Perfect time for Stokes to finally get a toss. 6 month old been up since 4:30am but just gone back down in time for first ball. 350 would be lovely.

  17. Eng 9-0published at 4 overs

It had been a very un-Ducketty start from Ben Duckett until this over but in this over he gets out the reverse and conventional sweep to bring a sense of normality. He doesn't make proper connection with either, I think beaten by the lack of pace.

It's two very different games with the loopy Noman bowling compared to the fizzing Sajid.

It's going to be an entertaining Test I feel.

  19. Eng 5-0published at 3 overs

I wouldn't cancel plans for the Test on Sunday, nevermind Monday.

Sajid Khan is getting this ball to turn a long way and is giving some top-class stares as he does.

That was a pretty standard over really.
