England have produced a lot less lateral movement in the first ten overs of the innings (0.5º) compared to India yesterday morning (1.4º).

They have adjusted to this well, by bringing the stumps into play more in this early stage. 8.3% of England's deliveries have been going on to hit the stumps, compared to India's 3.2%.

It's like Jofra has never been away. What a spell of bowling.

I wonder who the text readers would rather have in their team - thumbs up for Archer and thumbs down for Bumrah

Jofra Archer has looked good and he's looked whippy, with that whippy action he has.

It'll be interesting to see how Ben Stokes manages him. He won't want to bust him too early.

  8. Ind 41-1published at 10 overs

And Jofra Archer will get another over.

Nair and Rahul again take a single each before the former faces four more balls without scoring.

Woakes is one of the best ‘conditions’ bowler I’ve seen. Unplayable at times. Key word is ‘conditions’. Has offered very little else in this series so far. A few balls that nibble but not really enough, Is he playing for his place?

  10. Ind 39-1published at 9 overs

A first change for England as Brydon Carse replaces Chris Woakes.

KL Rahul and Karun Nair take a single apiece from his first over, to fine leg and backward point respectively.

At this moment it's a battle out there for India. They have to consolidate and see it through.

Jofra has just signalled to Ben Stokes he wants at least one more over.

  13. Ind 37-1published at 8 overs

In comes Jofra Archer again, and he beats the edge of Karun Nair with his second delivery.

Nair does pick up successive fours later in the over, driving through mid-off and then gloving the ball in a gap between the wicketkeeper and Ben Stokes at leg slip.

He then pushes two more to take 10 from the over.

England will be sensing that they can breakthrough early on and put India under pressure.

They have to eke out a meaningful lead and not let India get away.

I am impressed with the way KL Rahul is batting in this series. He is really solid and a lot of openers don't bat like this.

  16. Ind 27-1published at 7 overs

KL Rahul helps Chris Woakes' first ball on its way with a pull shot, beating Shoaib Bashir on the ropes at fine leg.

The opener's first four of the innings, followed by five dot balls.

The noise of the crowd behind Jofra takes me back to '97 and the roar that Devon Malcolm had coming in with every ball as he knocked South Africa over at The Oval.

Chris Woakes has the best bowling average of anyone in Test history at Lord’s and his overs currently feel like a sideshow.
