That's not how you want to set the tone. Chris Woakes would like to have that one again.

  2. Ind 4-0published at 0.1 overs

Yashasvi Jaiswal to face the first ball of the innings - he's scored heavily in the first knocks of each of the past two matches, making 101 and 87, but not done so well in the second innings, scoring 4 and 28.

Chris Woakes starts with a drag-down and Jaiswal cracks it through the covers for four - the start of another big score?

It'll be interesting to see India's batting. They've been able to score a lot batting first in these matches, but now what happens when there's a bit of scoreboard pressure, as their top order has been outstanding.

If England can get a couple of early ones, that puts a lot of pressure on India.

Jasprit Bumrah leads his team off, finishing the innings with figures of 5-74.

Mohammed Siraj has 2-85 after the wickets of Smith and Carse today, while Nitish Kumar Reddy has 2-62 after removing both of England's openers in one over in the game's first session.

Ravindra Jadeja (1-29) took the remaining wicket, dismissing Ollie Pope with the first ball after tea yesterday.

I think Mohammed Siraj has deserved those two wickets. He was controlled yesterday.

India have hung on here. I think England have an above par score and India will have to bat really well in this first innings.

They'll have to go beyond England's score, as the wicket is going to get lower and slower.

    And that's the innings.

Mohammed Siraj's full delivery cleans up Brydon Carse - making him the fifth batter to have his stumps broken in this Test.

England finish on 387, with the last five runs coming earlier in the over when a Siraj delivery flew away for wides.

This could be a decent score for England on this wicket. It has got easier to score runs as the day has gone on.

That is a lovely knock from Carse and well needed runs for England, nothing better than seeing a bowler smack Siraj for 4 to bring up his first (of hopefully many) half century’s for England.

Akash Deep comes on in place of Jasprit Bumrah and bowls a maiden to Shoaib Bashir.

But hold on, England's score will go up by two as replays show Brydon Carse's half-century shot went for six - I was a bit confused, it was a massive shot, I thought I must have missed it graze the boundary rope but it cleared it quite comfortably.

They've changed the ground's old manual scoreboard.

    And Carse is dropped again!

The Durham seamer throws his bat at another Siraj delivery and Dhruv Jurel can't hold onto a flying edge.

Carse takes a single to move to 54.

There's a half century for Brydon Carse. He's played so well today and valuable runs from him, especially in that partnership with Jamie Smith.

He's trying to push England along to 400.

A first Test half-century for Brydon Carse!

He heaves Mohammed Siraj straight down the ground for four.

I fancy we might see a few more big swings before this innings is done.

Right, Brydon Carse has decided he 's not going to hang around.

He leaves out to the mid-wicket boundary - Akash Deep runs back and tries to take the ball diving towards the ropes, but can't hold on.

A difficult chance, and England's batters run two.

  18. Eng 370-9published at 110 overs

    Right, we're ready to go.

Shoaib Bashir is last man out for England and Jasprit Bumrah sears a bouncer past the tailender's head.

Dhruv Jurel collects down the leg side, and an umpire's check for a touch of glove from Bashir's attempted pull comes out clean.

While we wait the camera is roving around the ground.

Rishabh Pant is walking back to the pavilion having had a net - we have heard that should be fine to bat.

Meanwhile Stephen Fry and actor Jim Carter are sat together enjoying the day's play.

We aren't resuming straight away as Shubman Gill is down on the ground having his leg stretched - a hamstring issue?

While we wait, let's enjoy Jofra Archer facing his first ball in Test cricket in four years.

He may have already departed quite swiftly, but this was fun.
