Cometh the hour, cometh the Lamb. Come on Emma!

    Owen in Kingswood

England's top order in disarray? This is like watching the men's Test side of five years ago.

    Katherine in Kenilworth

It's not just the opening partnership that has been the problem, our middle order has produced nothing so far. Now I'm worried as we need them to perform for the first time in the tournament!

  2. Eng 54-4published at 9 overs

Swing and a miss from Sophia Dunkley on the drive and wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz, stood up to the stumps, takes a nasty blow on the end of the finger.

To make matters worse, the ball runs away for four byes.

Fatima Sana is through five overs now but with figures of 3-19 and the ball still nipping around, she will be very tempted to keep herself going for another over or two.

Well, maybe not. The Pakistan skipper is heading off the fielder. She crouches down just off the playing area and seems to be struggling with something.

Fatimia Sana is finding, on average, 1.2° of seam movement off the pitch in the first 10 overs of the innings.

This is the most of any seam bowler in the tournament to play more than two games. As a consequence, she is the leading seam-bowling wicket-taker in the Powerplay so far.

  4. Eng 50-4published at 8.1 overs

    Top shot.

Slightly overpitched from Fatima Sana and Sophia Dunkley drives superbly between extra cover and mid-off.

The fielder gets a fingertip to it but that's not enough to stop it reaching the fence.

Pakistan have for a real opportunity here. How many times have we seen this happen with teams like Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka?

This is not what anyone would have predicted.

  6. Eng 46-4published at 8 overs

The seamers have torn through England's top-order but with Diana Baig struggling for consistency, she is taken out of the attack and on comes left-arm spinner Sadia Iqbal.

Sophia Dunkley cuts nicely behind square for two and Emma Lamb ends the over with two clipped to deep backward square.

Good running and it's six from the over.

It is a huge advantage to the bowlers that England only really have right-hand batters. It means you don't really need to change your line.

I wonder if England will be hoping for the rain to come in now.

  8. Eng 40-4published at 7 overs

You're not the first to suggest Emma Lamb moving up to open, Caz, and she's at the crease in the seventh over so it's not that different from opening...

Well, other than the numbers of batters left to come in after her.

Lamb gets off the mark with a crisp drive, it's well stopped in the covers so it's just a single.

Surely it's time to look again at this opening partnership. Perhaps we should move Lamb up to open with Jones, drop Beaumont and bring Wyatt-Hodge in down the order.

We thought the spinners were going to make an impact but instead it's the seamers causing all the issues.

A staggering start from Pakistan! Their bowlers are continuing where they left off against Australia.

    England are in trouble.

    Knight lbw b Fatima 18 (Eng 39-4)

Three reds and Heather Knight is gone.

Movement back in off the seam once again from Fatima Sana, who has got this ball on a string, and it beats Knight's inside edge for the umpteenth time.

Height was never an issue, impact was in line and it was going on to thud into leg stump.

This could be a massive moment here. If we thought the wicket of Nat Sciver-Brunt was huge - this could be even bigger.

  14. England reviewpublished at 6.4 overs

    This could be four...

Heather Knight is rapped on the pad, is given out and, for the third time, there is going to be a review.

I think she might be struggling this time.

Pakistan will be thrilled. That delivery was coming in and smacks into the middle stump.

This is as good a start as Pakistan could have hoped for.

    That was a very 'un-Nat Sciver-Brunt' shot.

    Sciver-Brunt b Fatima 4 (Eng 38-3)

Dragged on! England are in bother now...

Captain versus captain and Fatima Sana gets Nat Sciver-Brunt - and, of course, it's another ball that nips back off the seam.

This one is slightly shorter, the England skipper goes back to try and thump it through the off side.

It probably wasn't quite wide or short enough for that shot and the error of judgement costs Sciver-Brunt. Pakistan are jubilant.

  19. Eng 38-2published at 6 overs

Better end to the over from Diana Baig, still not exactly consistent but five dot balls are five dot balls.

  20. Eng 38-2published at 5.1 overs

    Four more.

Lovely late cut from Heather Knight and the ball races down to the deep third boundary.

It is all happening so far. Runs, wickets, reviews, you name it...

Ah, add a horrible full toss down leg to the list. Diana Baig is not showing the same control as her captain.
