  1. Tea at Derbypublished at 15:44 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 243-6 f/o

Alex Thomson will bowl what might be the last over before tea.

Ryan Higgins tries to turn the ball leg side but doesn't clear the field.

He sweeps the third ball to deep square for one.

Two slips in for Zafar Gohar who blocks on the front foot.

Four close catchers in as Zafar goes forward and drive to extra cover for one more run and we'll get one more over in.

Three close catchers in for Zafar who is right behind the ball to block to the leg side.

The third ball is pushed behind square leg and Higgins declines the single.

The last ball is pushed safely off side and that's tea.

Middlesex remain precariously placed but will be grateful to Ryan Higgins for batting out the session. He's 32 not out, Middlesex are 86 ahead and the new ball is due a couple of overs into the final session.

Derbyshire still have time but they must strike early after the break.

  2. Postpublished at 15:37 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 241-6 f/o

Ryan Higgins goes back to Jack Morley, punching to deep point for a single.

Zafar Gohar blocks from the crease with three close catchers plus the keeper for company.

Zafar is well forward and across to defend and the ball bounces off the pad.

Turn and bounce in evidence there.

Plenty to keep the Derby faithful interested.

  3. 'That's close to a stumping'published at 15:34 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 240-6 f/o

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

I tell you what that's close... his foot seemed to travel along the crease line.

Alex Thomson beat him three times in the over.

  4. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 240-6 f/o

Martin Andersson is off after a couple of overs and Alex Thomson is back on bowling his off spin.

Slow and plenty of flight on that ball as Zafar Gohar is beaten as the ball turns and bounces outside off.

Zafar is well forward to block the next one.

The third ball spins past off and an appeal for a stumping is turned down. His back leg just stretched over the line in time.

Zafar gets one off the fifth ball on the back foot to deep cover.

Ryan Higgins sweeps outside off to square leg for one.

  5. Postpublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 238-6 f/o

Can Derbyshire prize one more out before tea? At least four overs left before we reach that point.

Ryan Higgins defends into the off side.

Good flight from Morley and Higgins waits and blocks.

He's a bit late on the last ball but he pushes it down the track from the crease.

  6. 'Time is starting to run out'published at 15:28 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 238-6 f/o

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

The lead is 81. 41 overs left in the day. Time is starting to run out for Derbyshire... they need these four wickets as quickly as possible.

Can Wayne Madsen and his senior players plot a way to get them?

  7. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 238-6 f/o

Martin Andersson continues from the City End.

The second ball is tickled to fine leg and that's a great stop at leg gully by Blair Tickner.

This time Ryan Higgins gets the ball away to long leg for one.

A play and miss from Zafar Gohar outside off stump but Zafar survives the over.

  8. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 237-6 f/o

More defending from the crease by Zafar Gohar.

You have to get bat on those!

The fifth ball is outside off stump and pushed into point going forward.

He tries to turn the ball leg side but there's no run. Maiden over.

  9. Postpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 237-6 f/o

    Bowling change.

Right-arm seamer Martin Andersson is coming on in place of Zak Chappell.

This is his first over of the innings and only his sixth of the match.

Ryan Higgins turns the first ball into leg for a single and now the field changes over for left-handed Zafar Gohar.

We have a slip in and Zafar leaves outside off stump.

Zafar is nearly undone by a ball that keeps low and passes off stump for a bye.

    Almost a "pea roller".

Ryan Higgins defends into the on side.

He tries to glance a very leg side ball fine but misses.

  10. 'Andersson coming on for the first time'published at 15:17 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 235-6 f/o

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Martin Andersson is coming on to bowl.

He only bowled five overs in the first innings, the only overs he's bowled in the entire contest.

  11. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 235-6 f/o

Jack Morley will carry on from the Racecourse End.

Zak Chappell is going off the field and that might be it for his bowling in this game.

    He's had a great match.

Best Derbyshire bowler on show in the first innings and a fantastic delivery to remove Jack Davies this afternoon.

A full toss from Morley is crunched through cover by Zafar Gohar for four runs.

Zafar goes back in his crease to block out the over.

  12. 'Middlesex need plenty more runs to feel comfortable'published at 15:12 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 231-6 f/o

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

If we go back to our conversation about leaving them 150 with 16 overs left after tea then Middlesex still need 75 more runs before they start to feel they are far enough away that Derbyshire are not going to get this.

    75 runs... four wickets...

  13. Postpublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 231-6 f/o

Now Zafar Gohar will face Zak Chappell...

Edged and just short of a diving Wayne Madsen at second slip for four!

The ball went low, fast and between first and second slip.

The next scoring shot is a far more convincing drive to long off.

    Four more.

Zafar defends down the ground and then nudges a single to long leg.

Ryan Higgins has one hand off the bat as he defends into the off side on the front foot.

  14. Postpublished at 15:08 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 222-6 f/o

Ryan Higgins is down the ground to Jack Morley, defending down the pitch and realistically, Middlesex need him to bat out the session and a bit beyond.

He'll get a single with a neat deflection to mid wicket.

Three close catchers in for the left-handed Zafar Gohar.

Slip, leg slip and short leg.

Zafar eases a single into the off side to get off the mark.

  15. 'New ball not far away'published at 15:07 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 220-6 f/o

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

The second new ball is not that far away now either - 11 overs.

  16. Postpublished at 15:05 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 220-6 f/o

Zak Chappell roared with delight. That was a great delivery for his first wicket of the innings and fifth in the game.

Zafar Gohar pushes tentatively to point for no run.

He leaves a ball at the last possible moment as pressure builds.

Zafar nicks the last one but it bounces well in front of Derbyshire skipper Wayne Madsen at slip.

This game is far from safe for Middlesex.

  17. 'They are into the lower order now'published at 15:03 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 220-6 f/o

    Kevin Hand
    BBC Radio London commentator

Davies gets a good one from Chappell. Beautiful ball, fair play to him.

The big man has his first wicket of the second innings after four in the first dig.

Zak Chappell might have just opened a door Middlesex are unable to shut before the match is out.

They are into the lower order now.

Zafar Gohar has a very big job to do.

Middlesex's lead is 63 and they have six wickets down.

    Davies c Guest b Chappell 7 (Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 220-6 f/o)

We're halfway through the day's play. Middlesex lead by 62.

Zak Chappell will continue from the City End.

Ryan Higgins pushes into the off side and sends Jack Davie back.

Can't risk a run out here.

Higgins pushes the next ball out a bit deeper and there's a safe single.

Now Jack Davies has gone! A loose push outside off stump and he's edged it through to keeper Brooke Guest.

Great ball. Had to play it. Zafar Gohar to bat next.

  19. 'It's a big effort from Derbyshire'published at 15:00 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 219-5 f/o

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

Derbyshire players will be weary after enforcing the follow-on. It's a big effort from the players.

Zak Chappell had his hands on his knees after his last over but he will bowl the next.

It's 177 straight overs in the field now.

  20. Postpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 28 April

    Derbyshire 472 v Middlesex 315 & 219-5 f/o

Jack Davies plays Jack Morley from the crease, dabbing the spinner into the on side.

He latches on to a full, wide ball to drive through cover for four.

Davies defends down the pitch and shovels a short ball that barely bounces past leg slip for two.
