  1. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 24 May

    Ackermann c sub b Overton 4 (Durham 68-5 & 277 v Somerset 277)

Not a great shot from Colin Ackermann.

Craig Overton's delivery is nothing special - in fact the opposite really - drifting down the leg side but Ackermann flicks at it and gets an edge - or maybe the face - off his thigh and gives Thomas Rew a first dismissal in first-class cricket.

The 17-year-old put down a hard chance to get rid of Alex Lees earlier so that will do him the world of good.

    Durham's lead now 175.

    Somerset on a roll.

  2. Raining again in Cardiffpublished at 14:59 British Summer Time 24 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 20-1

The umpires were planning to resume at 14:50 BST but the rain has returned so the waiting must go on.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:58 British Summer Time 24 May

    Kashif Ali c Webster b Barnard 31 (Worcestershire 151-8 v Warwickshire 227)

    Kashif cashes out.

It's a brave shot choice and it's cost Kashif Ali as he tries to belt Ed Barnard through the covers off the back foot.

But there's a smidgeon of inevitable movement and the ball's flown off the edge and screamed to Beau Webster at second slip.

The Australian needs every bit of his six foot plenty frame as he grabs it two-handed above his head.

  4. Postpublished at 1.2 overs

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 6-0

A terrific opening over from Dan Worrall costs him just a single.

Sam Curran will bowl the second over and Paul Walter flicks him through mid-wicket for four.

  5. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 24 May

    Ahmed c Jennings b Hartley 136 (Leics 280-3 v Lancs 206)

    Lancs have a wicket!

Rehan Ahmed has piled plenty of misery on Lancs bowlers with his highest ever first class score and his second hundred of the season against this opposition.

But his long stint at the crease, and his 256 run partnership with Lewis Hill, is over

He goes for a big shot against Tom Hartley and slices it to Keaton Jennings at short third man.

  6. Division Two updatepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 24 May

Leicestershire have now progressed to 271-2 against Lancashire - Rehan Ahmed is 127 not out, and Lewis Hill has 108.

Kent have begun their reply to Derbyshire's massive 587-5 declared and are 9-0 in the third over with Joe Denly and Ben Compton together.

Gloucestershire are 13-0 in the seventh at Wantage Road, replying to Northamptonshire's 469 all out.

  7. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 24 May

    Lees lbw b Pretorius 35 (Durham 63-4 & 277 v Somerset 172)

    Somerset keep chipping away...

Alex Lees goes, he's struck in front on his leading leg and with the angle round the wicket to the left hander it's knocking middle pole out all day long.

Migael Pretorius runs down the track with both arms up and then remembers he ought to check to make sure the umpire agrees and turns round almost as he passes the outgoing Lees.

    Durham 172 ahead.

  8. 150 runs

up for Worcestershirepublished at 14:53 British Summer Time 24 May

    Worcestershire 150-7 v Warwickshire 227

Kashif Ali pushes Chris Rushworth up to mid on and it's wide enough to scamper through for the single that brings up Worcestershire's 150.

This is a fine effort from Kashif, who's shown on more than one occasion in his time at New Road he has the calmness for any hairy situation.

The Pears' plight has been hairier than Chewbacca today but Kashif has 30 and, if he can stay in and nurture the tail, parity with the Bears' total is not out of the question.

  9. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 24 May

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217 & 0-0

The pressure is on Essex's batting line-up with their team 62 behind on first innings.

In case you weren't with us yesterday, we will remind you that Surrey have six seam bowlers in their team for this match.

Dan Worrall wasn't at his best with the ball in the first innings and he will be hungry to make inroads in this one.

  10. 50 runs

for Durhampublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 55-3 & 277 v Somerset 172

Durham's main objective will be to set Somerset the highest total of the match to win.

At the moment that's still nearly 120 runs away but the 50 is up.

Alex Lees is striking a commanding figure, palpably keen to make up for his first baller in the first innings.

    He's got 29 and Ollie Robinson 18.

  11. 'Essex have bowled pretty well'published at 14:45 British Summer Time 24 May

    Surrey 279 v Essex 217

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It was entertaining as always from Dan Worrall but he goes for 13.

Surrey end the first-innings with a very handy 62-run lead.

Rajitha the pick of the bowlers for Essex who have bowled pretty well there.

  12. Latest from Cardiffpublished at 14:44 British Summer Time 24 May

    Glamorgan 383 v Middlesex 20-1

There has been no play since lunch at Sophia Gardens because of rain but the good news is the umpires have taken a look and hope to re-start at 14:50 BST.

  13. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:40 British Summer Time 24 May

    Worrall c b Harmer 13 (Surrey 279 v Essex 217)

Innings over, but Surrey will be content with a 62-run lead, having been 144-7 during the morning session.

Simon Harmer takes the final wicket as Dan Worrall goes back and edges to slip where Dean Elgar claims a fourth catch in the innings.

The main bowling honours. though, go to Kasun Rajitha, who finishes with 5-87, figures which could have been even better had Sam Curran not punished some short stuff during his 70.

  14. Postpublished at 72.2 overs

    Surrey 279-9 v Essex 217

Dan Worrall biffs the first ball he faces from Simon Harmer down the ground for six.

Second ball of Harmer's next over, he clears the man at long-off for a single-bounce four.

  15. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:37 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hudson-Prentice lbw b Wheal 74 (Hants 1554 v Sussex 256-6)

And Hants break the sixth wicket partnership.

Fynn Hudson-Prentice is trying to flick that extravagantly off his legs and it hits his back pad.

Not much doubt about that and he know it as his head sinks at the crease.

That has been a terrific partnership with John Simpson, the pair adding 173 for the sixth having come together at 83-5.

  16. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 24 May

    Waite c Davies b Rushworth 13 (Worcestershire 138-7 v Warwickshire 227)

    Worcestershire's chugging choked.

Chris Rushworth picks up his fourth wicket and Alex Davies pouches his fourth catch as Matthew Waite departs.

It's slightly different to all the others in as much the ball as cut back in and followed the batter off a good length.

Waite simply can't get his hands out of the way fast enough as the ball brushes either glove or bat, hard to tell, on its way through to Davies.

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 70.3 overs

    Clark c Elgar b Harmer 54 (Surrey 265-9 v Essex 217)

Jordan Clark tries to cut a ball from Simon Harmer that is too close to him. It's a sharp chance to Dean Elgar at slip which he can't take cleanly but grabs at the second attempt.

A good innings by Clark, who hit eight fours, and has helped secure a lead for the reigning champions.

  18. 50 runs

for Luis Reecepublished at 14:30 British Summer Time 24 May

    Derbyshire 587-5 dec v Kent

The agony is finally over for Kent.

Luis Reece takes a single off Jack Leaning to reach from just 46 balls.

Martin Andersson then swishes Leaning straight for fourth six of his 31 off 17 balls cameo and Wayne Madsen calls Derbyshire in.

That is Derbyshire's highest-ever score against Kent, beating the 583-4 declared they made in 2009 when another Australian left-hander, Chris Rogers, played the Caleb Jewell role for 208.

  19. 'Terrific innings' from Jordan Clarkpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 24 May

    Surrey 256-8 v Essex 217

    Mark Church
    BBC Radio London commentator

It's been a terrific innings from Jordan Clark who has back-to-back fifties in the County Championship.

He sort of marched down there, and along with Sam Curran, has took the game by the scruff of the neck.

  20. Postpublished at 14:29 British Summer Time 24 May

    Worcestershire 138-6 v Warwickshire 227

Worcestershire have managed to carve out 50 for the last two wickets as they try to recover from their wobble this morning.

Kashif Ali and Ethan Brookes put on 32 and now Matthew Waite has helped add 18 with Kashif since coming in.

    Got to keep chugging.
