    Surrey 256-8 v Essex 217

Kasun Rajitha is too full and Jordan Clark drives past mid-off for four to reach 50 off 62 balls.

Following a lean start to the season, Clark made 69 against Yorkshire last week and is maintaining that form here.

  2. 100 runs

Leicestershire centurions Lewis Hill and Rehan Ahmed

Hill survived a leg before shout against Anderson Phillip in the 90s but has hooked the same bowler down to fine leg for a boundary to bring up his hundred.

It is an eighth of his first class career and betters his 96 against Glamorgan in the opening round of fixtures as his best of the season.

It is worth reiterating that this partnership (currently 217 runs) with Rehan Ahmed has put this game in the palm of Leicestershire hands.

  3. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time 24 May

    Bedingham c Overton b Davey 8 (Durham 32-3 & 277 v Somerset 172)

David Bedingham completes a quiet game with the bat as he's gobbled up at second slip by Craig Overton.

Josh Davey puts it in just the right place, Bedingham comes forward and edges straight into Overton's skips.

    Durham's lead is 137.

  4. 100 runs

100 for Ahmedpublished at 14:21 British Summer Time 24 May

    Leics 230-2 v Lancs 206

An elegant cut behind square brings up Rehan Ahmed's century – the second of his season and third first-class hundred in all.

Lancs will be sick of the sight of him at the crease this season given his previous hundred (100) came against them at Old Trafford in round three.

His partnership, which is now up to 206, with Lewis Hill has delivered a significant and possible pivotal foothold in this contest.

  5. wicket

WICKET - Northants 469 all outpublished at 14:20 British Summer Time 24 May

    Guthrie c Green b van Buuren 33 (Northants 469 v Glos)

Finally Gloucestershire bowl the home side out.

Liam Guthrie has a shuffle down the track and, although picks it up nicely, he's also picked out Cameron Green in the deep at mid-wicket.

What a recover from Northants from 71-4 yesterday to 469.

Gloucestershire have to pick themselves off the floor here and clear their heads.

  6. 250 up for Surreypublished at 68 overs

    Surrey 250-8 v Essex 217

Jordan Clark cuts Kasun Rajitha for four and Nathan Smith finds the boundary with an excellent off-drive.

The Sri Lankan then squares Smith up with a good one, but it runs away for a single and Surrey have a batting point.

    It's time for Simon Harmer.

  7. 'Terrific from Mo Abbas'published at 14:19 British Summer Time 24 May

    Yorks 159 v Notts 228

    Jonathan Doidge
    BBC Radio Leeds cricket commentator

Terrific bowling display from Mo Abbas.

He's made best use of the conditions and has been supported brilliantly by Brett Hutton.

  8. wicket

YORKS 159 ALL OUTpublished at 14:18 British Summer Time 24 May

    Revis b Abbas 27 (Yorks 159 v Notts 228)

Mo Abbas upgrades his five-for with a sixth as Matthew Revis drags on from outside off stump.

Yorkshire are in a bit of bother trailing by 69 runs and their chief tormentor walks off holding the ball aloft after taking 6-45.

Dawid Malan's 64 stands out as Yorks best but Revis with 27 added some late impetus.

  9. Postpublished at 67 overs

    Surrey 240-8 v Essex 217

Kasun Rajitha misfields as the ball bobbles across the old wickets at extra cover and ends up going over the advertising hoardings at the boundary edge in his effort to deny Nathan Smith a four.

Fortunately, he is ok but Smith adds another boundary with a pull to long leg as Shane Snater drops short.

  10. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:14 British Summer Time 24 May

    Harrison c Bailey b Price 63 (Northants 465-9 v Glos)

Calvin Harrison's career-best innings is over. But what a knock.

Ollie Price finally makes the breakthrough for Gloucestershire as Harrison gets ambitious and whips out the reverse sweep/paddle.

But he doesn't get it right and flips it up round the corner to Archie Bailey. He's made 63 off 118 balls.

It ends a brilliant stand of 90 for the ninth wicket. As well as bringing up Northant's fifth batting point.

  11. wicket

WICKETpublished at 14:12 British Summer Time 24 May

    Jewell b Leaning 232 (Derbys 541-5 v Kent)

    Finally, it is over.

Caleb Jewell attempts a weary slog sweep, the ball holds its line and hits the top of off stump.

Jewell batted for 516 minutes, faced 361 balls and hit a six and 21 fours.

An epic innings for his side.

  12. Rew replaces Rewpublished at 14:07 British Summer Time 24 May

Durham 24-2, lead Somerset by 129

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

Thomas Rew has replaced his brother James behind the stumps for Somerset.

James, who is due to captain England Lions next week, has gone to hospital for a check on a hand injury.

His 17-year-old brother is in the first year of is A Levels at King's College in Taunton and recently signed a short-term contract to play in all formats for Somerset.

After a 20 minute delay, because of showers during lunch, play has resumed on day two. Nine wickets have fallen so far today and I imagine there will be a few more this afternoon.

  13. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time 24 May

    Yorks 142-9 (trail by 84 runs) v Notts 228

Ben Coad is channelling a bit of anger into this last wicket partnership crashing three consecutive fours off Mo Abbas.

Abbas and Dillon Pennington put on 20 in a last wicket thrash for Notts on day one and something similar would be handy for Yorks here.

  14. Back out after delayed resumption at Chester le Streetpublished at 14:05 British Summer Time 24 May

    Durham 277 & 18-2 v Somerset 172

Josh Davey opens up now that it's all dried up after that heavy shower during the lunch break.

David Bedingham gets the first runs of the afternoon with a couple off the fourth ball.

    Durham's lead is 125.

  15. Career-best score for Jewellpublished at 14:04 British Summer Time 24 May

    Derbys 532-4 v Kent

    Caleb JewellImage source, Rex Features

After Luis Reece hits Matt Parkinson for six over mid-on, Caleb Jewell helps himself to a single at the start of the next from Jack Leaning and reaches 228 not out - the highest score of his career.

Maybe not a player people in England knew much about prior to this season, but he is doing a fine job for Derbyshire.

  16. dropped catch

Hudson-Prentice dropped on 70published at 14:03 British Summer Time 24 May

    Hants 154 v Sussex 246-5 (lead by 92)

Fynn Hudson-Prentice gets a second life with Fletcha Middleton failing to hang on to a difficult high chance at midwicket.

He gets a hand to it but fails to grab it and it spills out for a single.

Hudson-Prentice was dropped earlier on 51 by Toby Albert (an altogether more straightforward grab) in the slip cordon.

Hampshire could have done with that.

  17. Five-wicket haul for Kasun Rajithapublished at 64 overs

    Surrey 226-8 v Essex 217

The leg trap is set and Sam Curran falls for it.

He gets too far underneath a pull shot and Simon Harmer calmly collects a steepling catch at deep mid-wicket.

A fine innings nonetheless by Curran, who put on 82 with Jordan Clark (41 not out).

  18. 'Chris Woakes is a top class performer'published at 13:59 British Summer Time 24 May

    Worcs 120-6 v Warwicks 227

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

He doesn't like it the batter but the finger was up right away. Ethan Brookes obviously doesn't think he hit it but Woakes has his third.

An absolute beauty of a delivery, I don't really know how you can play a delivery like that.

Chris Woakes is a top class performer as we know and he looks it today.

  19. Postpublished at 13:56 British Summer Time 24 May

    Yorks 124-9 v Notts 228

Ben Coad deals with an attempted yorker to deny Mo Abbas his hat-trick, pushing it out into the off side.

Abbas still has a double wicket maiden and a 49th first class five-for (5-30).

The Pakistan international has been the wrecking ball which Notts have used to destroy this Yorkshire reply.

  20. wicket

WICKETpublished at 13:55 British Summer Time 24 May

    Brookes c Davies b Woakes 12 (Worcestershire 120-6 v Warwickshire 227)

    Stop it Chris Woakes!

It's unplayable again from the England seamer.

Draws Ethan Brookes forward with one that's just a fraction shorter and hinting at middle and leg, then there's that jag away, then the edge, then the catch behind, then the trudge off.

It's the cricketing equivalent of 'show 'em the right, hit 'em with the left'.

Not sure how you play it tbf.

    Woakes has three now...
