Pathum Nissanka cuts the ball away for four - and Sri Lanka claim just their fourth Test win in England.

It's their first Test win over England, home or away, for 10 years. A superb performance from the tourists.

England take the series 2-1 but their hopes of a 100% summer are dashed at the last.

Sri Lanka have been so good at playing what's in front of them. They deserve the win.

Sometimes you need reality checks. England will say they weren't complacent but they weren't on it.

That was a high-class shot from Nissanka, beautiful timing. He found the space.

    Shot!

Josh Hull angles one across the right-handed Pathum Nissanka, who crunches it through the covers for four.

Sri Lanka are one shot away from victory - one that they thoroughly deserve at the Oval.

  7. SL 208-2published at 39 overs

    Need 11 to win

The Sri Lanka flags are flying in the stands as Angelo Mathews sweeps hard for four to end the over.

Just 11 more needed for the tourists.

Shoaib Bashir is back on and bowls a ripper that turns back sharply through the gate and Angelo Mathews is very relieved to see it miss his off stump.

England have played poorly and Sri Lanka have benefitted from it.

  12. SL 192-2published at 37 overs

    Need 27 to win

It's all smiles in the Sri Lanka dressing room. They know this game is won now and are enjoying watching Pathum Nissanka and Angelo Mathews chip away at the runs required.

Just two from Gus Atkinson's over but this will be done before lunch. It's an extended session until 13:15 BST and, even if it's not quite finished then, they can take the extra half hour.

Bashir thought it was coming quicker to the boundary and was waiting.

It looked hard to judge whether it was going over his head or if he had to go forward. He was in two minds.

  14. SL 190-2published at 36 overs

    Need 29 to win

The short ball nearly does the trick as Pathum Nissanka sends one high, behind square on the off side.

Shoaib Bashir, who took a wonderful catch earlier, is the fielder out there but perhaps the ball got caught in the wind because the fielder misjudges it and ends up having to dive forward to try to take the catch.

In the end, he doesn't get a hand on it and Nissanka survives.

Nissanka had quick hand speed and he knows the pace of the conditions. I think he's enjoying himself.

Century made, Pathum Nissanka is going to have some fun.

England have gone for the short-ball tactic so the opener knows what's coming from Olly Stone.

He sets himself and hammers the ball over the leg side for six.

In the last 34 years, only 12 batters have come to England and made fourth-innings centuries. An interesting quirk - six of the last seven have come at The Oval.

We haven't seen Mathews play with anger today. He just settled in nudging the ball and stayed steady.

He looks prepared to open up the shoulders now.

  19. SL 181-2published at 35 overs

    Need 38 to win

Angelo Mathews had looked content to wait for the right ball to hit, push single and leave when he has to, so his leg side hoick to end the over is somewhat out of the blue.

It loops up but well over the head of mid-on and he gets back for two.

That's Nissanka's second Test century. Sri Lanka flags are flying. He will surely lead his team to victory.

He's not had to go swiping around to reach his hundred.
