We'll leave you with England's winning moment, which saw Pakistan bowled out for 160.

You won't be waiting long for more cricket though, as the women's ODI series between these same two teams continues tomorrow at Taunton at 11:00 BST.

And then this series continues on Tuesday from Cardiff at 18:00 BST - let's hope the weather helps us out for the rest of the week!

If you missed any of today's action, here's Stephan Shemilt's match report from Edgbaston and we look forward to you joining us tomorrow!

  2. 'We were brilliant with the ball'published at 18:19 British Summer Time 25 May

England all-rounder Moeen Ali, speaking to Sky Sports: "I thought we were brilliant with the ball.

"The bowlers came and executed the plans we'd spoken about. Jos actually said he felt we were a little bit under [par with the bat] but it was still a good score.

On England's plans: "Even just having one side a little bit bigger and playing the game on the field and executing it.

"Sometimes even if you're not bowling well but you're sticking to a plan, you can get away with it."

On his role and being flexible: "We have been speaking about it. Today we just wanted guys to be playing but in another situation or at a World Cup, I probably would have gone in ahead of Harry Brook.

"You see who you're playing against. Then we have that sort of chat."

On bowling first over: "Jos spoke to me a couple of days ago and said it might be an option.

"He was going to change his mind before I spoke to him!

"No, sometimes it does work and, as a spinner, sometimes you have more chance of getting a wicket in the powerplay than through the middle.

"I felt like I was bowling quite well and the figures weren't too bad."

  3. 'There's always going to be peaks and troughs'published at 18:16 British Summer Time 25 May

England captain and player of the match Jos Buttler, talking to Sky Sports: "We got a huge amount out of the game today, great performances from everybody."

"I thought Jofra Archer was brilliant, you could see his emotion taking wickets for England again but we need to temper those expectations because he’s not going to be the same straight away."

"I’m really pleased with the whole bowling group, those two overs from Jordan were outstanding."

  4. Postpublished at 18:12 British Summer Time 25 May

Jofra Archer's return was the big talking point for England ahead of this series, and he delivered.

Two whopping sixes with the bat, and 2-28 with the ball. What an asset he'll be if England are to defend their T20 title in the Caribbean next month.

  5. 'We had our moments'published at 18:08 British Summer Time 25 May

Pakistan captain Babar Azam: "We got them to a par score, our bowlers bowled very well and we had our moments when we were batting.

"But we didn't finish well. We had a small partnership, myself and Fakhar [Zaman] but we didn't get any other 40 or 50 partnerships that England did."

On the top four: "Mostly we are flexible but everyone knows his role. So before the match, or the series, we decide who is playing where and the role.

"We've all been in good form so we are flexible."

On Fakhar Zaman: "The way he dominated was good. If me and Fakhar could have stayed together two or three more overs, I think we'd have a different outcome."

On Imad Wasim: "Good for us with the way he is bowling. He's an experienced bowler and he knows how to bowl in different situations. He's a very clever bowler."

On confidence ahead of World Cup: "We are mostly set-up, we have announced the team and playing in Ireland, we changed on mindset and that gave us confidence."

With England 144-2, and Jos Buttler and Jonny Bairstow on the charge, Pakistan were looking at conceding 200 at one stage.

But they fought back admirably with the ball to take five wickets in the final five overs. It came a little too late, but Babar Azam will be pleased with their response when things weren't going well.

We'll hear from the Pakistan captain shortly.

  7. Postpublished at 18:02 British Summer Time 25 May

Buttler will also be thrilled with his own form. He smashed an eye-catching 84 from 51 balls in England's 183-7.

There was a middle-order wobble that saw England fade away at the end of their innings but other than that, it was a pretty complete performance.

  8. Postpublished at 17:59 British Summer Time 25 May

It was pretty comfortable for England in the end, with the wickets shared around.

Three for Reece Topley, two each for Moeen Ali and Jofra Archer - whose return will have pleased many an England fan.

Fakhar Zaman entertained with his 21-ball 45, but Babar Azam was the only other Pakistan batter to pass 30.

Jos Buttler will be thrilled with everyone's contributions as their World Cup preparation gets the perfect start.

Terrific bowling form England in the end, they held some very smart catches, their outfield have been outstanding.

Pakistan have looked good in pieces but need to improve drastically for the next game.

Reece Topley takes the final wicket as Shaheen Afridi is caught on the boundary, and England wrap up an impressive victory!

The perfect start to their international summer with a fine all-round effort.

  11. Pak 158-9published at 19 overs

    Need 26 from 6 balls

Chris Jordan finishes his spell with 1-31 - a cracking final over to wrap it up.

Pakistan, with one wicket remaining, need an unlikely 26 from the final over.

Chris Jordan targeting the stumps, the off cutter working well, ending a great spell on a high.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.3 overs

    Amir b Jordan 5 (Pak 154-9)

No doubt about that one. Castled.

Number 10 batter Mohammad Amir goes for an audacious ramp over his shoulder but it's too full, and Chris Jordan finally has his wicket.

It's been a masterful spell of death bowling from England here.

  14. Not outpublished at 18.1 overs

    Pak 153-8

What do I know? It hit the pad outside the line and Shaheen survives.

  15. Pakistan reviewpublished at 18.1 overs

Has Chris Jordan joined the party? A sharp yorker pins Shaheen Afridi on the toes.

It's given out on the field, but the fast bowler reviews it. I think it's an ambitious one.

Very impressive end to Jofra Archer's spell, his pace has been good and we've seen variations in his bowls, what a way to come back.

  17. Pak 153-8published at 18 overs

    Need 31 from 12 balls

A streaky edge for four is the only blemish in Jofra Archer's last over.

He finishes with 2-27 on his return. We'll take that, right?

England can celebrate because that is realistically the last chance in Pakistan's comeback.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.3 overs

    Imad c Livingstone b Archer 22 (Pak 147-8)

Imad Wasim goes, and Pakistan's hopes probably go with him.

Jofra Archer has another, drawing Imad Wasim into the big shot over cover which he actually nails pretty well - but Liam Livingstone is patiently waiting at deep point.

    England close in.

One very big over is needed, Wasim can provide Pakistan with some excitement but England have fielded brilliantly, the catching has been brilliant, the ground fielding has been snappy.
