Mikyle looks forlorn as he walks off, but he's been done by a beauty there.

It shows the versatility of Gus Atkinson, too. He's bowled a lot of wobble seam today but that was seam up. It just nibbled away and took a feint edge.

I really like the look of Gus Atkinson. He's not a one tricky pony.

    There's the breakthrough!

Gus Atkinson can't stop taking wickets and he's finally taken the edge for England this morning.

There's just a hint of movement away and Mikyle Louis can't help following it, like a toddler to a sweetie. There's a little edge through to the big, black gloves of Jamie Smith. England strike.

Kraigg Brathwaite's half-century came up off 70 balls, with six fours. He has 42 50+ score in Tests, 12 of which he's converted to centuries.

Vineet Jacob: Your first objective as an opener is to see off the opening bursts of the main bowlers and the West Indians have done so. Now, it's about making that start count and making use of the time spent so far.

England have missed a trick this morning. They've bowled a couple of feet too short.

Very good from the West Indies skipper, who goes to a half-century. There's another waft at Stokes, this time aerially past the diving point fielder, then a tickle off the pads to reach the milestone. Brathwaite is having a good morning. First the toss, now this.

West Indies seem to be so solid with their openers, but as soon as their first wicket falls there seems to be a real panic. Is this due to an inexperienced team or merely upsetting a game plan they wish to stick to?

Jamie Smith has kept very tidily, but I haven't been totally sure about him down the leg side. This take, one-handed off Atkinson, is a very good one, high to his left. When we're commenting on wicketkeeping takes, you know it's a quiet morning.

I don't mind that from Kraigg Brathwaite. He's got to throw the kitchen sink at it though, no half measures.

Slashed hard! The first sense of a loose shot as Brathwaite flashes at a wide one from Stokes. It flies over the slips, no chance of a catch, but could have gone anywhere.

Hi, I’m new to cricket. Regardless, the Test championship rules made up by the ICC, seem to overly value bowling overs quickly, which seems to suit teams playing in conditions where spin from both ends seems likely for large parts of the game. Should the final not consist of the two best teams?

Wood has indeed only bowled four overs and has given way to Gus Atkinson. It's too straight from Atkinson, has it has been all morning, but Louis can't tuck in.

Stokes slides in, hair bouncing. It's slippery, full length, hint of swing. Brathwaite, minimal foot movement, plays from the crease and jabs a couple of runs. There's, erm, an uncomfortable blow, too. Painful.

This is the third consecutive 50+ opening stand for the West Indies. For context, in their previous three tours of England - that's nine Tests - they had no opening stands of 50+.

This is Wood's fourth over. He doesn't often bowl spells longer than than this. Louis has been solid. He's looked more comfortable against the extra pace than Brathwaite.
