Summary

  1. Aus 192-6published at 37 overs

    Need 13 runs to win

Australia would have still needed 22 runs with three wickets left had that catch been taken.

It looked such a strange one because Sophie Ecclestone seemed to have taken the looping ball.

  2. Aus 185-6published at 36.3 overs

And now Ash Gardner clatters the ball for four to bring the runs required below 20.

Sophie Ecclestone doesn't want to look.

That just typifies England's game in the field.

Sophie Ecclestone should not be dropping catches; that could have completely changed the game.

    Down!

That will probably be the game.

Sophie Ecclestone has put down Ash Gardner running around at mid-off. She had it in her hands but as she hit the floor the ball popped out.

A nice diving catch from Maia Bouchier and it was well deserved for Sophie Ecclestone.

Tahlia McGrath hasn't been in good form of late. She just stepped back and hit the ball uppishly on that shot.

  6. Aus 183-6published at 36 overs

Need 22 more runs to win

England are into the bowlers now. Alana King's ODI average is only 18.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 35.5 overs

    McGrath c Bouchier b Ecclestone 2 (Aus 183-6)

Good catch. Maia Bouchier clings on to a diving catch at point to keep England hanging on by the slightest of fingertips.

    Australia still need 22 runs.

England have looked flat in the field; they've had no consistency with the bat or ball and they have not built any partnerships.

Australia look like the only contenders in this series.

  9. Aus 180-5published at 35.1 overs

Ash Gardner gets the nine iron out now to chip a ball a mile into the air. It bounces once off the green before hopping over the boundary edge.

  10. Aus 176-5published at 35 overs

Need 29 more runs to win

If England are looking for positives after this you'd have to say their bowlers have done pretty well.

It was the batting that has left them 50 runs short at least.

  11. Aus 176-5published at 34.4 overs

    My bad.

Amy Jones gets one that arrives as a nasty half-volley and England's wicketkeeper lets it through her legs.

    Four byes.

  12. Aus 172-5published at 34.3 overs

It's 25 balls since the last boundary.

  13. Aus 171-5published at 34 overs

Need 34 more runs to win

It's only frustration for England as Tahlia McGrath plays and misses on the front foot.

    One run from the over.

'Huge' moment for England as Filer removes Litchfield

I understand why England like the pace of Lauren Filer but she is just too inconsistent. I would suggest bringing someone like Dani Gibson in who brings a bit with the bat as well.

Kate Cross' availability will be a big factor in that decision however.

Sophie Ecclestone has two overs left. She is going to bowl the first of those now.

Can she find another wicket to really make things interesting?

One thing Australia have done better than the England batters is running between the wickets. They have pushed hard for the first and always come back for the second.

England were jogging and quite tentative; they didn't really put pressure on the Australia fielders.

  17. Aus 170-5published at 33 overs

    Target 205

It feels like it has just got a bit darker at the North Sydney Oval and there's talk of a storm not too far away. Australia remain well ahead of the DLS score but only four runs come in Bell's seventh over.

Tahlia McGrath has batted at number six or lower in 16 previous ODI innings. Only once has she been not out at the end of the innings and lost - a key wicket for England.

  19. Aus 168-5published at 32 overs

Need 39 more runs to win

Heather Knight brings the field in to new batter Tahlia McGrath.

McGrath is a world class all-rounder so there is plenty of work to do and not a lot of time to do it but if England are going to do something special then it starts here.

Alyssa Healy just missed the ball as she came down the pitch. She played all around that shot.

Charlie Dean deserves the wicket. She changed her pace nicely, this one was slightly quicker, and it was a wicket that England desperately needed.
