    Poor cricket all-round.

The delivery wasn't special, the shot was horrible and the keeping was probably even worst.

  2. NZ 121-3published at 26 overs

    Target 237

Rachin Ravindra cuts loose off the first delivery of the over and punishes a full delivery from Mehidy Hasan Miraz for four.

Four byes off the final ball add to a productive over for New Zealand.

The required rate is back below five.

    Thanks Jonty.

It's advantage New Zealand with the required run rate just above five an over.

But a wicket would make this interesting. Can Bangladesh manufacture a breakthrough?

  5. NZ 111-3published at 25 overs

    Target 237

A solid start for Rishad Hossain, who brings up the 25 over mark with an over of three singles and almost forcing Rachin Ravindra to chop onto his own stumps.

The halfway stage also marks a change in our commentary.

I shall hand you back to Elizabeth Botcherby.

  6. NZ 108-3published at 24 overs

    Target 237

Three singles come from the over in total for New Zealand.

At halfway, barring a high-scoring over next up, they will be slightly behind the halfway total of their 237 chase, but with safety in knowing they are still comfortable.

Rishad Hossain is coming into the attack for a first taste of some leg spin.

A day to forget with the bat from a Bangladesh point of view.

They played Michel Bracewell really poorly and that's something they'll have to look back at.

Batters go through these panic stages through an innings and it is so unnecessary.

  8. NZ 106-3published at 23.2 overs

    Target 237

A nervy shot from Rachin Ravindra.

He stepped forward and went for a big slog sweep off Mehidy Hasan Miraz.

He didn't get all of it and slipped while playing it, but the shot lands safe.

    A touch unnecessary.

  9. NZ 105-3published at 23 overs

    Target 237

Taskin Ahmed's latest over brings just two singles, with Tom Latham not forcing anything or taking risks.

Given New Zealand's comfortable position so far, they have no need to either.

  10. NZ 103-3published at 22 overs

    Target 237

Bangladesh have not conceded too many boundaries in recent overs, but New Zealand are keeping the scoreboard ticking over well.

Another over without a four or six, but four singles are scored and New Zealand are into three figures.

  11. NZ 99-3published at 21 overs

    Target 237

Five runs come from that over on the whole.

New Zealand remain in control without having to worry too much, despite losing two early wickets.

From here, it's just doing a professional job with the bat. You don't want Tom Latham to get settled.

Rachin Ravindra is a class player. He burst onto the scene. He has a lovely calm to his game and he doesn't look flustered.

He goes about his work quietly, but when he needs to step on the gas he can.

  13. 50 runs

50 for Ravindrapublished at 20.2 overs

    NZ 98-3

Rachin Ravindra has his half century.

After almost chopping onto his own stumps in the previous delivery, Ravindra drives down the ground for four and in doing so, moves onto 51.

He has looked very composed throughout the day and has hardly had to move out of second gear.

He's been a really tough nut to crack today.

  14. NZ 94-3published at 20 overs

    Target 237

More aesthetically pleasing scoring from New Zealand for you number fans out there.

    11..11 - a four run over.

At 20 overs, New Zealand need 143 runs from 30 overs to win this match at a rate of almost five an over.

Taskin Ahmed will return to the attack next.

The BCB [Bangladesh Cricket Board] have always preferred foreign coaches and they often look to Australia.

Phil Simmons was interviewed for the job several times before, but then they gave Steve Rhodes the job.

Simmons has always been a favourite for many players in Bangladesh.

  16. NZ 90-3published at 19 overs

    Target 237

Three runs come from the over, with dots and singles symetrically exchanging throughout.

The third of those singles was a gift after some unnecessarily poor fielding from Bangladesh, which Tom Latham and Rachin Ravindra pounced upon.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has returned to the attack for a bit of spin.

The last wicket to fall was off the bowling of Mustafizur Rahman.

He forced Devon Conway to chop onto his own stumps when on 30.

Former England all-rounder Moeen Ali is to retire from domestic cricket and miss this year’s Hundred.

Moeen, 37, will play a final season for Warwickshire in the Blast, but will not be on the Birmingham Phoenix retained list when it is announced on Tuesday.

His decision comes as the England and Wales Cricket Board enforces tighter restrictions on home players taking part in overseas leagues that clash with the English summer.

“This is a big decision for me and not one I’ve taken lightly,” said Moeen. “But I’ve reached a decision in the last few days, taking into account what I feel is best for me and my family at this stage in my career.

“I’m still passionate about the game and want to play as much as I can. I still love playing. I still have passion for the game and I love being in a team environment.

“I also enjoy talking to players about cricket, the tactics, and I think that’ll help me move smoothly into coaching after my playing days are over."

  19. NZ 87-3published at 18 overs

    Target 237

An unusual shot from Rachin Ravindra.

He looked to sweep and completely top edges Mustafizur Rahman's delivery behind him.

There's too much height for wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim and it runs behind him for two.

An over consisting of nine runs.

Where will those wickets come from? It remains to be seen.

New Zealand are doing exactly what they need to do - they're trundling along.
