    Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 380-6

The Somerset brains trust come together for a conflab as the search for wickets goes on and on.

They decide on a change and toss the ball to Josh Davey for the first time today.

Brett D'Oliveira and Matthew Waite pick up a single apiece. No alarms, alas, if you're of a Somerset persuasion.

  2. Hundred in both innings for Ackermannpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time

    Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 236-5

Colin Ackermann has become the eighth Durham batsman to score a century in both innings of a first-class game.

Following his 116 in the first innings, he's reached three figures in the second, in a very watchful and studious manner. It came in 195 balls and 13x4s.

Last season David Bedingham scored centuries in both innings at Blackpool, while Alex Lees did it at Leicester in 2023 and Sean Dickson at Worcester in 2022.

Ackermann and Graham Clark put on 93 for the sixth Durham wicket in the first innings on Friday and have added 113 today. But the team needs them to stay together for a lot longer than this if they are to save the game.

Too much width from Henry Brookes this time and Michael Jones gets on top of the bounce and thumps it away for four to bring up a half-century stand with captain Keaton Jennings.

Jones takes a couple of steps down the pitch to the final ball of the over and is squared up, but it runs away off the edge for three.

It's a little fortunate, but an edge down to the third man boundary brings up back-to-back centuries for Colin Ackermann!

He has looked in control for much of this innings, most of which has been played under some pressure as Durham seek to salvage a draw from a perilous position.

His 28th first-class century has come off 195 balls with 13 fours as Ackermann mixes caution with a little intent.

He came in at 29-2 with the visitors 172 runs adrift and is batting them into a decent position.

    Lancs 46-0 - target 309

Michael Jones can't pierce the off-side field from Blake Cullen's final delivery of the over.

There are 56 overs left for Lancashire to score 263 - that is 4.7 per over.

  6. Postpublished at 14:28 British Summer Time

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 365 & 123-3

We can't keep listing all the Essex bowling changes but Tom Westley gave himself the one over before tossing the ball back to Simon Harmer.

Dom Sibley has now chewed-up 150 deliveries for his 41 not out and is doing a brilliant job for his side.

Ben Foakes has got himself quietly to 20.

The deficit is now 94 runs incidentally.

Blake Cullen is called up as first change by Middlesex.

His first ball is run down to third man for four by Michael Jones.

It wasn't the most convincing shot but there's nothing wrong with a handsome cover drive later in the over as Jones advances to 20.

  8. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time

    Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 221-5 - lead by 20

Right-arm paceman Josh Tongue returns for his second spell of the day and again concedes a boundary with his first ball.

He strays on to the pads of Colin Ackermann who bisects two fielders on the short legside boundary to go within five of a second ton of the match.

The tamper is out for the second day running as a groundsman hammers away at a troublesome foothole over the wicket.

  9. Postpublished at 14:23 British Summer Time

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 365 & 115-3

We're going through the spin options for Essex now and the captain Tom Westley is on with his very-occasional slow right-arm offies.

Nothing to cause Surrey any concern since lunch so far.

    Westley bowls a tidy maiden.

  10. Postpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time

    Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 369-6

Lewis Gregory in for his 16th over and coughs up two no balls as the frustration continues for the home side.

Brett D'Oliveira picks up a single for the only scoring shot of the over to get off nelson and move on to 112.

The seventh-wicket stand moves to 84.

    Warks 454 v Sussex 528 & 259-6

Tom Alsop was very patient at the start of his innings but he's been rewarded with a half-century in exactly 100 balls.

He cuts a drag down from Taz Ali through cover for his sixth boundary.

Sussex now lead by Gooch - 333 - with 56 overs left in the game.

Ryan Higgins tries his luck from round the wicket, with the keeper standing up to the stumps.

He overpitches and Keaton Jennings finds the short boundary at extra cover. Easy pickings.

And there's one for Michael Jones too. This one is slowing down as it heads for the rope, but has just enough legs to reach it.

  13. 200 runs

    Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 204-5

The scores are level as Durham wipe out that first innings deficit.

Colin Ackermann times it nicely as a push through the offside off Lyndon James and it races to the rope.

And there's the lead as Ackermann sends James through midwicket for back-to-back boundaries. He moves to 89.

  14. Postpublished at 14:06 British Summer Time

    Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 197-5

Durham will be feeling a little more secure as they safely negotiate the opening half-hour of the session.

Graham Clark shows this renewed confidence as he drives nicely down the ground for his third boundary.

The deficit is just four. So still work to do, but Notts really need a breakthrough soon to stop this petering out into a draw.

Toby Roland-Jones is trying to get the ball to swing but there's not much sign of it at this stage.

He is full again and Michael Jones sends it straight down the pitch, just missing the stumps, and away for the third boundary of the over.

He did little more than lean on that. Exquisite timing.

  16. Postpublished at 14:02 British Summer Time

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 365 & 108-3

Simon Harmer is on now but a change of ends for him at Chelmsford

Dom Sibley pinches a single from the South African to move to 31 not out from 126 balls.

  17. Postpublished at 4.2 overs

    Lancs 12-0 - target 309

TRJ starts his third over and Keaton Jennings eases the ball through mid-off for his second boundary.

The next one, aimed towards mid-on is equally well-timed but the bowler manages to get his right hand on it and restricts the Lancashire opener to a single.

  18. 100 runs

100 for Brett D'Oliveirapublished at 14:00 British Summer Time

    Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 352-6

He's had to wait through lunch and then for a few more overs, but Brett D'Oliveira finally brings up three figures by driving Kasey Aldridge through the covers for four.

It's been a terrific knock of patience and concentration, spanning 258 balls and almost five-and-a-half hours.

    The 13th time he's reached a first-class ton.

It brings up the 350 for the Pears and is giving his side a chance.

Dillon Pennington looks to be the man to make things happen for Notts.

Colin Ackermann has to play a ball high on the bat and chips it in the air. One bounce to mid-on.

The first shot 'in anger' as Keaton Jennings greets the start of a new Ryan Higgins over with an elegant cover drive for four.

The other key bit of info, apart from the target, is that there will be 63 more overs after this one.
