  1. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 1.2 overs

    Slater lbw b Potts (Notts 8-1 - target 89)

Matthew Potts opens from the Radcliffe Road End.

He can provide a bit of pace - and he's struck inside two balls!!

  2. Postpublished at 15:52 British Summer Time

    Notts 8-0 - target 89

A second four of the opening over as Haseeb Hameed punches Ben Raine to the short boundary.

Durham must be absolutely reeling after that burst of pace bowling.

  3. Notts begin chase of 89published at 15:49 British Summer Time

    Notts 4-0 - target 89

After that remarkable end to the afternoon session, Nottinghamshire need just 89 runs to open the season with a remarkable win.

Josh Tongue’s four-wicket burst earned him a five-for as Durham lost their last five wickets for just 21 runs.

Skipper Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater are out in the middle. Ben Raine to open the bowling as Durham search for a miracle.

Hameed guides Raine's third ball down to the third man boundary to get the chase up and running.

    Middlesex 260 & 407 v Lancashire 359 & 109-3

Two slips and a short leg in for spin bowler Zafar Gohar's final over before tea, but it is safely negotiated by Marcus Harris and Matty Hurst.

Lancashire were looking good on 93-0 after finally bowling out Middlesex for 407, for whom Max Holden made a magnificent 184.

But the loss of Keaton Jennings, Josh Bohannon and Michael Jones in quick succession has perhaps now tilted the game in Middlesex's favour.

Lancashire will have 39 overs after tea to score exactly 200 - that's a rate of 5.13 per over. Middlesex, on the other hand, need seven wickets. Don't go anywhere!

  5. Tea at Tauntonpublished at 160 overs

    Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 415-7 - trail by 101

And that's tea at Taunton with the game, remarkably, still in the balance with one session to play.

Worcestershire lost their fourth wicket yesterday afternoon and looked dead and buried but just a single wicket has fallen in each of the last three sessions.

Brett D'Oliveira was the solitary batter to go in the afternoon and he was a trifle unlucky to be given lbw for a brilliant 121.

Somerset need three wickets to fall in the final session to seal what would prove a hard-earned win.

  6. Tea at Edgbastonpublished at 15:44 British Summer Time

    Warks 27-0 - target 388

Warwickshire safely see out eight overs to tea through Rob Yates and Alex Davies.

There should now be another hour of gentle batting to do after the break until a draw can be declared.

  7. Tea at Chelmsfordpublished at 15:43 British Summer Time

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 365 & 164-3

Dom Sibley batting for SurreyImage source, Rex Features

Surrey go through the session without losing a wicket and without really looking like losing one.

Since edging the first ball of the day just out of the reach of slip Dom Dibley has done what Dom Sibley does which is occupy the crease and accumulate quietly.

Essex failed to remove Ben Foakes in the first innings and are having the same issue again.

It was always going to be a tall order to take 20 wickets on this surface and that's how it's proving.

  8. Wowzers. Where did that come from?published at 15:40 British Summer Time

    Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 289

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

It looked like this game may have been edging towards a draw by mid-afternoon, thanks to a gutsy partnership from Colin Ackermann and Graham Clark.

They put on 145 for the sixth wicket and appeared to have piloted their side to calmer waters, only for everything to go a bit Josh Tongue! (We have to thank a listener for that one).

Clark was on 62 when he was bowled at the start of the 80th over, and Tongue then through the rest of the Durham order. He took four wickets for four runs in two overs, including Ackermann for 124.

Durham lost 5-21 in six and a half overs and were all out to leave themselves with a lead of just 88 runs. Tongue finished with 5-66.

I said Durham needed to bat until well after tea to save this one. But they didn't.

  9. Postpublished at 15:38 British Summer Time

Notts need 89 to beat Durham

At 268-5 and Colin Ackermann going very well with Graham Clark Durham were moving into safer territory.

But they were always vulnerable having conceded such a hefty first-innings lead.

And so it proved as Notts ripped out 5-21 in just 38 balls. Josh Tongue claiming 5-66.

The hosts should now mop up this small target to claim an opening round win.

  10. Postpublished at 26 overs

    Lancs 107-3 - target 309

Marcus Harris off-drives Zafar Gohar for four to get off the mark.

The Australian is using his feet to try and negate Gohar's spin and nudges the final one of the over to mid-on for a single.

Lancashire need 207 off 41 overs to win.

  11. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time

    Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 407-7 - trail by 109 runs

Ooh, Matthew Waite edges Archie Vaughan just wide of Lewis Gregory at slip and away for four runs.

We've got eight minutes until tea which would be another landmark for the visitors.

Hands-up who had this one going to the final session of the fourth day after Tom Banton's antics?

Put your hand down, I don't believe you!

  12. Postpublished at 15:33 British Summer Time

    Lancs 102-3 - target 309

As swinging yorkers go, that was an absolute belter.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 25 overs

    Jones b Roland-Jones 44 (Lancs 102-3 - target 309)

That is as good an inswinger as you will see anywhere.

TRJ produces a brilliant delivery which dips in late and finds the substantial gap left between bat and pad by Michael Jones.

Suddenly the Lancashire run-chase is unravelling and Middlesex may now be fancying their chances.

Matty Hurst comes out to join Marcus Harris - three wickets have gone down for nine runs.

  14. wicket

DURHAM ALL OUT AND TEApublished at 15:28 British Summer Time

    Potts c & b O'Neill 1 (Notts 579 v Durham 378 & 289)

Fergus O'Neill with the final wicket and Notts have created mayhem in the last half hour.

Matty Potts pushed forward too keenly and nudges sharp chance back to the bowler's chest and he clings on well.

It leaves Notts just 89 to win after tea.

  15. 400 up for Worcestershirepublished at 15:27 British Summer Time

    Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 401-7 - trail by 115 runs

How many times might a side get 400 in their second go and face losing by an innings?

It's a rhetorical question folks, please do not respond as you may still be charged.

  16. Postpublished at 15:26 British Summer Time

    Essex 582-6d v Surrey 365 & 159-3

Meanwhile, back at Chelmsford Noah Thain is the latest man to be handed the ball in a game of bowling pass-the-parcel.

Ben Foakes nudges a single followed by Dom Sibley unfurling a straight drive for four runs.

    It's not happening for Essex.

  17. Postpublished at 23.2 overs

    Lancs 102-2 - target 309

Zafar Gohar turns one enough to find the edge of Michael Jones' bat.

Blake Cullen dives full length to prevent the boundary, but Jones adds three to move to 44 not out.

  18. Postpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time

    Lancs 99-2 - target 309

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

The run rate will naturally now slow down (after those two wickets).

  19. wicket

WICKETpublished at 15:21 British Summer Time

    D'Oliveira lbw b Vaughan 121 Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 398-7 - trail by 118 runs

    Finally!

Brett D'Oliveira's long vigil is over and he may count himself unfortunate.

The Worcestershire skipper leans a long way forward to Archie Vaughan, is struck on the pad and up goes the finger.

The ball had a long way to travel but he's out after facing 340 balls in 407 minutes.

Ben Allison is in - will this one end quickly now or do the visitors still have more resistance in them?

  20. 50 runs

50 for Matthew Waitepublished at 15:20 British Summer Time

    Somerset 670-7d v Worcs 154 & 398-6 - trail by 118 runs

That's an eighth 50 in first-class cricket for Matthew Waite.

It's come up off 195 balls in a stubborn rearguard action with his captain Brett D'Oliveira with six fours.

    Will it be a match-saver?
