Will England rue six dropped catches in India's second innings?

I think it just, once again, reinforces how big Ben Stokes is in this team. They're a totally different side without him.

Woakes injures shoulder after making dive at long off boundary

Putting aside Chris Woakes' injury in the field, do you think England need to play more bowlers/all-rounders given the speed that they bat and how little time they are off the field? No matter how many bowling options they have in the squad and how often they rotate them between games, don't they risk having a squad of broken fast bowlers by the end of a series?

The final two deliveries of Josh Tongue's over beat the edge of the bat.

He has a wry smile. Joe Root's arms swish in frustration. That kind of morning.

Jaiswal guides Overton over slip cordon for four

Overton's seam has looked gentle throughout this game compared to when we see him banging it in during white-ball matches. There's swing but it's from the hand and easy to manage. Akash Deep sees off another over.

It's almost like the perfect morning so far for India.

Real frustration for England and they have only got themselves to blame.

Jamie Overton is on for his first spell of the day. He's yet to take a wicket in the match.

I don't think it's a great sign that the skipper [Ollie Pope] has gone off the field to have a chat about tactics at this stage.

  10. Ind 111-2published at 27.3 overs

Ollie Pope has nipped off the field and is chatting to Brendon McCullum in the dressing room. You've got to assume that's for a tactical chat, 41 minutes in.

I hope I'm wrong, but this has got all the ingredients of a classic England wheel-off day. Dropped catch, nightwatchman hanging around, a bowler down. Probably all working towards being three down at the close.

That might give England their best chance of escaping with a draw given the forecast...

Are England trying to lose this Test match? Fielding at the village green level. I have a feeling that India are going to be 450-3 at the end of the day...

Only 17% of deliveries have seamed more than 0.75° this morning, well below the average of 40% across the opening two days.

Top seven batters in this Test match have averaged just 20 facing deliveries seaming more than 0.75° compared to 42 against deliveries seaming less than 0.75°.

Zak Crawley shakes his head. He's usually pretty solid in there.

That's the second one he has put down in the innings and the fourth England have dropped altogether.

    Akash Deep survives the over.

This takes me back to Headingley when India dropped all those catches and they were made to pay.

Another one down in the slips and it is pretty straightforward.
