Will England rue six dropped catches in India's second innings?

Ahsan Raza shakers his head after an lbw against Akash Deep. It looked very out. England want another look.

India have got some runs on the board, and they're not just surviving.

I wouldn't fancy being in the seamers shoes if I didn't get a wicket in the first session. It could be a long day boys.

A first hint of in-swing from Gus Atkinson threatens Yashavi Jaiswal's front pad but the left-hander gets his bat through the line and onto the ball. We're yet to see any of the real zip off the pitch from the two previous days.

30 runs have been added in the first half an hour.

Is there anything better than watching an England Test match in the balance on an August Saturday?

There are a few Graham Thorpe head bands in the crowd again today. We're told more than £120,000 was raised yesterday.

Akash Deep is currently doing his best right-handed tribute to the gritty batter.

More and more overs in the legs...

If these two guys can stick together for an hour, then it's an hour's worth of pain for England's seamers.

There's a lot of chatter in the middle, not between India and England but between Yashasvi Jaiswal and Akash Deep. Young Jaiswal looks to be talking his less experienced batting partner through everything.

An edgy two brings up India's 100.

A good start for India. The boundaries are coming and it's frustrating for England.

Akash Deep is doing a decent job - 18 off 17, so far.

And another boundary completes Josh Tongue's over as Akash Deep guides it away.

This is not the start Bernard spent the night dreaming about.

    Previous four Tests this series

    Attacking Shots - 45.0

    Defensive Shots - 63.7

Attack has perhaps proven to be the best form of defence so far in this Test match, a complete reverse of the first four matches of this series.

Fiddled through the slips by Yashasvi Jaiswal! I think he's played that. It's the third boundary of the day already.

Sorry Nige from Bedfordshire (@11:05) - But that’s incorrect. 3-1 would be a fair reflection. Up until now we’ve been better in most of the decisive moments of the series.

It's not pretty but Akash Deep is swinging to good effect for India. He manages to hack the ball between mid-on and mid-wicket and there's no stopping it with the outfield having quickened up a touch.

Tuffers is already worrying this pitch has flattened out.

England will be desperate to make an early breakthrough. Even if it's the nightwatchman, you don't want him around for 20 or 30 runs.

Akash Deep solidly defends after Yashasvi Jaiswal gets one away for a single.

We are right that Jacob Bethell's introduction wasn't some funky plan. Gus Atkinson is going to bowl the third over.

As an England supporter of course I want to see England win this Test & the series. But a 3-1 series win wouldn't reflect how close the series has been.

    Nige, Bedworth

  19. Ind 81-2published at 19 overs

    Jaiswal 51, Deep 10

Deep is more circumspect at the end of the over and Bethell is able to slow the scoring.

It's going to be Josh Tongue from the other end. He was impressive last night...

Might be worth having one deep there as it looks like Akash Deep is going to have a pop against spin.

Not a good start for England - it's not what you want. It sets the tone getting that first jab in.
