  1. drinks break

    Drinks - SA 99-1published at 16 overs

Need 133 more runs to win from 34 overs

New Zealand will have to hope this drinks break can halt Tazmin Brits' momentum. It's 13 overs since they took that wicket of Laura Wolvaardt.

Drilled for four by Tazmin Brits. She is motoring now.

The way South Africa play Melie Kerr, is really important for the outcome of this game.

  4. SA 93-1published at 15 overs

    Brits 41, Luus 27

This slipping away from New Zealand now - the failed attempt at a sliding stop by Brooke Halliday epitomising that. Tazmin Brits gets Melie Kerr away for two boundaries, both of which come through the off side.

The required run-rate is now below four.

  5. How's stat?!published at 15:12 BST 6 October

The last time New Zealand played South Africa in a 50-over World Cup match on Indian soil was in 2013 in Cuttack. The Kiwis won by 151 runs after making 321-5 and then bowling South Africa out for 170. This contest looks like it will be a littler closer.

Need 150 more runs to win

Dot, dot, dot, dot, four aaaannnnd four...

It's another good over for Tazmin Brits and South Africa. Georgia Plimmer is flat on her back having failed to stop the ball on the boundary.

South Africa are well on top now.

South Africa have just been able to find the gap. They have found some really nice boundaries too. New Zealand struggled in their first 10 overs in hitting the fielders.

  8. SA 74-1published at 13 overs

    Target 232

Whether leggie Melie Kerr can tie South Africa batters down and then dismiss them will have a significant say in the outcome of this match. She has very little to work with from the pitch.

Such a nice shot, right in the arc. She has hit that mid-wicket pocket. Lovely.

Sune Luus responds to the introduction of key wicket-taker Melie Kerr by slog-sweeping a six.

  11. SA 66-1published at 12 overs

    Brits 22, Luus 19

Just when New Zealand leak a few runs, they manage to follow with an over that drags things back. South Africa are still on top, they're comfortably ahead of the required rate, but they haven't quite broken free.

Two runs from this one from Lea Tahuhu.

  12. SA 64-1published at 11 overs

    Target 232

Sophie Devine's face is currently painted with frustration. She is driven for four and then gives Tazmin Brits a leg-stump half-volley which is punished too.

    10 from the over.

New Zealand spinners have had a lot of success. It will be interesting to see how South Africa play the spinners.

  14. SA 54-1published at 10 overs

    Brits 13, Luus 17

Lea Tahuhu - once the quickest seamer in the women's game - makes a good start with her first over which concludes the powerplay. She's another with plenty of experience. This is her 99th ODI in addition to 98 T20s.

  15. SA 52-1published at 9 overs

    Target 232

Sune Luus presses South Africa further into the ascendancy by becoming the first batter to get Sophie Devine away for a boundary today. Some good running from Brits and Luus keeps the scoreboard moving too.

They've nearly matches their 69 in the England defeat already.

That is a lovely shot and an example of the batter letting the ball come onto them a little bit more.

  17. SA 45-1published at 8 overs

Sune Luus ends a run of three overs without a boundary by sdlashing through the covers. New Zealand are rattling through the overs here, perhaps trying to hurry South Africa.

  19. SA 41-1published at 7 overs

Need 191 more runs to win

Sophie Devine concedes only one from this opening over of hers in a boost to her side. She really can do everything.

  20. SA 40-1published at 6 overs

    Target 232

South Africa are already 18 runs better off than New Zealand were at this stage.

The White Ferns have the experience to think of a way back into it. Suzie Bates is twiddling her hands, I think suggesting ways for her side to get back into this.

The result is skipper Sophie Devine bringing herself on with a slip in place.
