  1. Postpublished at 14:09 BST 6 October

New Zealand's total is six runs short of the 237 they made in pursuit of Australia's 326 at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore last week.

The Kiwis are going to have to bowl well.

  2. 'I think 231 is defendable'published at 13:59 BST 6 October

New Zealand batter Brooke Halliday: "I guess being a left hander South Africa have to adjust their line and length and that benefitted me today, it paid off.

"The balls when they are on the stumps are not bouncing as much, we are lucky that we have been here a week to practice.

"I think if we hit the stumps and make it quite simple, maybe set our fields straighter and make them play squarer we will go quite well. I think 231 is defendable."

  3. Postpublished at 13:52 BST 6 October

New Zealand's last seven wickets managed just 44 runs as they went from 187-3 to 231 all out. South Africa will fancy their chances of chasing this down, you suspect.

  4. South Africa strangled the orderpublished at 13:48 BST 6 October

Certainly from the position they have put themselves in early in the day, they have underachieved. Their period of rebuilding and the partnership of Brooke Halliday and Sophie Devine they built a really healthy platform. South Africa to their credit, strangled the rest of the order.

    Carson run out (Bosch/Khaka) 4

A chaotic end to New Zealand's innings as they finish on 231 all out with 2.1 overs left unused.

Ayabonga Khaka is hit down the ground and some good fielding by Anneke Bosch prevents the boundary.

Carson attempts an ambitious third run but Bosch's throw to Khaka at the non-striker's end is good and she does the rest with the Kiwi batter's dive in vain.

That really is fantastic and nicely timed by Lea Tahuhu, that is truly brillaint.

    Tahuhu c Wolvaardt b Mlaba 5 (NZ 226-9)

Wowzers! A stunning one-handed grab from South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt.

Lea Tahuhu wallops a flighted delivery from Nonkululeko Mlaba outside off stump, but Wolvaardt anticipates it brilliantly at extra cover.

Wolvaardt dives to her right, sticks out at hand, and somehow the ball sticks.

As spectacular catch as you will see in this World Cup.

  8. NZ 226-8published at 46.4 overs

New Zealand's innings in danger of finishing on a bit of whimper.

Just two runs off Nonkululeko Mlaba's final over from Lea Tahuhu and Eden Carson so far.

  9. wicket

    J Kerr c de Klerk b Khaka 2 (NZ22-7)

A filthy biff down the ground from the bat of Jess Kerr off the bowling of Ayabonga Khaka, but the Kiwi cannot get enough on it.

Nadine de Klerk is safe as houses down at long on and takes the catch above her shoulder.

Kerr looks to the heavens in frustration.

This will be heartening South Africa. We have always said that if you take wickets, it transfers that scoring rate back and relieves pressure.

  11. wicket

    Devine b Mlaba 85 (NZ 220-7)

Sophie Devine is denied back-to-back World Centuries after more smart bowling by Nonkululeko Mlaba.

The South Africa spinner hangs one up and Devine ends up playing all around it having been through the shot and the ball skids through, brushes her pad, and hits the stumps.

  12. NZ 219-5published at 44 overs

Marizanne Kapp bounces Sophie Devine with the final ball of the over, and the New Zealander picks it early and pulls it for four.

    Kapp is chuntering.

  13. wicket

Gaze run out (Mlaba) 10 (NZ 212-6)

Isabella Gaze is called through for a single by Sophie Devine, after a flick fine off Marizanne Kapp, but she hesitates.

Nonkululeko Mlaba throws to Kapp at the non-striker's end and the all-rounder aggressively throws down the stumps.

Gaze is short of her ground and on her way.

  14. NZ 212-5published at 43 overs

A good battle between Sophie Devine and Nonkululeko Mlaba here.

Devine skips down the pitch to Mlaba's second ball and biffs it past the fielder at mid-off for four.

Three dots and two singles off the remainder of the over, though. New Zealand's run rate is currently 4.93.

  15. NZ 206-5published at 42 overs

That redoubtable competitor Marizanne Kapp is back into the attack.

The South Africa all-rounder has a face like thunder after a clinical piercing of the gap by Sophie Devine to a slower ball, though, which races away for four.

  16. NZ 202-5published at 41.3 overs

Nonkululeko Mlaba has 2-30 from her seven overs today.

    Is that a dropped catch?

A beauty from Nonkululeko Mlaba who tosses the ball up, gets it to grip and spin away from the bat of Isabella Gaze as the Kiwi batter attempts to work it to leg.

South Africa wicketkeeper Sinalo Jafta spills it behind the stumps and then quickly scuttles to the other end. Might have been a bit of bat on that.

That is really frustrating for Maddy Green, I don't mind the shot if it's got strength but she just looped it in the air and it was a great catch for Anneke Bosch.

    Green c Bosch b Mlaba 4 (NZ 195-5)

Nonkululeko Mlaba strikes with the first ball of the over yet again.

This time Maddy Green is on her way after a fine diving catch at backward point by Anneke Bosch.

The Kiwi batter fails to get enough on a reverse sweep to a delivery from Mlaba and Bosch swoops.

  20. NZ 195-4published at 40 overs

A run-out shout as Maddy Green reaches to make her ground after a quick single by Sophie Devine of Nadine de Klerk, but despite the direct hit from the fielder the Kiwi batter is comfortably home.

Devine has a steely look in her eyes, here. That kind of 'I'm going to bat through here' look.
