Ellie Threlkeld will be annoyed with that one as Marie Kelly would have been out by a country mile.

I like the intent of looking for two but not on that occasion.

  2. Phoenix 69-4published at 62 balls

A very uncharacteristic mistake from Ellie Threlkeld with the gloves.

Marie Kelly should be run out by a distance but Threlkeld has knocked the stumps with her gloves before she's taken the ball.

A chance for Kelly and the Phoenix - can they capitalise?

  3. Phoenix 68-4published at 60 balls

Emma Lamb has had to watch helplessly as the rest of the top order has fallen around her.

She has 32 from 24 balls so far.

You feel a lot rests on Emma Lamb's shoulders now. She just needs that partner with her.

Marie Kelly is a busy player so that should benefit the Phoenix and will give Lamb a release of pressure.

Sterre Kalis almost did the splits there to try and make her ground. Great hand work from Ellie Threlkeld behind the stumps to whip the bails off.

  6. wicket

Kalis st Threlkeld b King 2 (Phoenix 64-4)

    No mistake this time!

Alana King had bowled a waist-high no-ball previously, but got away with the free hit which only cost two.

But she responds perfectly, tempting Sterre Kalis down the pitch and she almost gets back, but Ellie Threlkeld's fast hands behind the stumps beat her to it.

Heather Graham was not sure where the boundary was. She will be disappointed with that as it's a catch she should be taking.

  8. dropped catch

Lamb dropped on 21published at 51 balls

    Phoenix 58-3

Wait, have we just seen an Australian player drop a catch?!

Emma Lamb tries to take the attack to Alana King, clubbing the ball into the leg side, where Heather Graham is well-positioned but it somehow slips through her hands.

To make matters worse, it's gone for four!

The overall catch percentage in this year's women's Hundred sits at 77.8%, higher than any previous edition of the women's Hundred and higher than the most recent editions of the Women's Premier League (74.5%) and Women's Big Bash League (72.9%).

A steady start for the Phoenix. We saw a really good innings from Sterre Kalis in the last game so she will want to build a partnership again.

  11. Phoenix 49-3published at 50 balls

Oh my word, that's a beauty.

I'm not sure how Alana King hasn't got a wicket there and neither can she.

Lovely flight, pitching on leg and rips past Sterre Kalis' off stump. Unplayable, and something that'll bring back some painful memories for England players (and fans) from the past winter!

The lamest, limpest and easiest of dismissals. Amy Jones can hardly believe it.

  13. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 42 balls

    Jones c & b Gardner 9 (Phoenix 49-3)

    Oh dear. That is soft.

Amy Jones had beautifully reverse-swept the previous ball for four off Ash Gardner, but gifts the Rockets skipper a wicket by simply chipping the ball straight back to her.

Phoenix are in all sorts of trouble.

I would love to see how many matches Amy Jones plays in a year. She never really gets a break being the only wicketkeeper who plays in the England side.

  15. Phoenix 45-2published at 40 balls

Amy Jones joins Emma Lamb in the middle.

She is another of England's players who could really use some runs and confidence before the World Cup.

The catching has been very good in the women's Hundred. Some grounds are more difficult than others - Headingley can be awkward as the ground dips.

Cassidy McCarthy made that catch look more theatrical than it needed to be. It might make the highlight reel now!

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 33 balls

    Perry c McCarthy b Gordon 14 (Phoenix 38-2)

No such luck for Perry today!

The runs were drying up against the spinners and Ellyse Perry tries to kick on. She skips down the pitch and tries to hit Kirstie Gordon down the ground, but picks out Cassidy McCarthy at long-off.

    Huge wicket for the Rockets.

Ellyse Perry in the women's Hundred:

    • Home - 30.0 average, 118 strike rate
    • Away - 33.6 average, 135 strike rate

Not only does Perry's strike rate increase in matches away from Edgbaston, four of her five half centuries in the Hundred have also come in away matches.

  20. Phoenix 36-1published at 30 balls

Needing a wicket, it's no surprise that Rockets skipper Ash Gardner turns to her fellow Australian superstar Alana King.

She starts neatly, with Perry and Lamb happy to tick over in singles for now.

King is also the latest guest with Kate Cross and Alex Hartley on the No Balls podcast - you can listen on BBC Sounds here.
